I had both the V65 Sabre and Magna way back. Those things were fast in a straight line. I remember reading a bike magazine where the Magna went 10:83 in the quarter mile and I think the rider was a guy named Jay Gleason. Then in 2001 I got a Kawasaki ZX12. Needless to say it was much faster than the older Hondas. But nothing else I've ridden compared to the brute power of the latest generation of the Yamaha VMax. That thing was from a different planet.
I'm looking at a Magna V65 1100 of v4 badassness. I owned a 1984 Honda Interceptor 1000 with 116 hp , 6 speeds, and it was THE fastest , easiest bike I've ever owned, and then I just discovered the Magna, and I'm smitten. EDIT : I'd MUCH rather have the piece of mind of a shaft drive than a chain. The Magna / Sabre are THE best bikes ever made for the money. I own a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic in shaft drive and I LOVE it so much.
That 84 Interceptor is one of my all time favorites of the old bikes and I'd like to have one but nice ones have gotten rather expensive. It would go good with my 83 1100F and 79 CBX.
My dad and I had an 84 V35 Magna, only version that was a chain final. I've been playing with the idea of getting a V65 in the future. I saw one that was an 85 that was super cherry sell for 4800.
Awesome bikes but I'm to short. My rectifier and stator are wired together and I think cause of the way they did it it's killing my batteries. On my third battery and it's pretty dead. What do you think? 83 honda shadow 750
I’m 5’5” and with the shorter seat I’m ok on these bikes. It’s possible the connections are not solid and they are shorting out causing harm to your battery. Have you tested output from your stator?

I’m not sure we can go wrong with a v4 cruiser! I have quite a few!
