We are very blessed with Prof. Brown, who helped so many Chinese students through thick and thin. Prof. Brown also helped the China story to the English world. Thanks for the interview.

This is what really living is all about. Getting out of your comfort zone, accepting and giving, and taking chances, and 1 american professor within billions of people from completely another culture accepting professor as a human being is very very promising and impressive. Just thinking about the 80's is impressive itself. The whole world was really racist and less educated. amazing!

Your channel will grow sir. You bring quality guests and you ask the right questions. Yes, there are Americans who fall prey to the lying American media, and you and Prof Brown remind me that redemption is not about saving the sinners (like American media), its about removing the blanket condemnation. All the best bro....from your African bro (Kenyan)
I confirm what Doc Brown has said. China built Tazara Railway, a 1000 mile Railway from Daresalam to Luzaka after Rhodesia closed Zambia border in a bid to sabotage independence. At the time, China GDP was only $200 billion but they helped. That is generosity. We are grateful China.

Don‘t blame Dr. Brown for falling in love with Chinese language, culture and prople. It is the best language on earth--it embodies meaning and art form for literal and artistic expressions. He witnessed the modernizarion of China and its governace under CCP. I visited FuZhou, a sister city nearby and was impressed with its economic vitality and clean, quiet streets full of electric bikes and vehicles.

The politicians of Uncle Sam have zero sum game mindset. The rise of the panda is considered as a threat to the global dominance of Uncle Sam. They want to be no.1 but not no.2. Contain and oppress the panda is the target which both parties of Uncle Sam agree.

Please note the translated "Shaman" is Xiamen, used to be known as Amoy, which was a Westerner's attempt at "Eh Mui", which was Xiamen in the Zhangzhou (as opposed to the way the Fujian (Hokkian) people in, say, Xiamen and Quanzhou call it: "Eh Mng"). I myself am a Malaysian born Chinese with parents from Xiamen, now living in Sydney.

The auto-captioning unfortunately cannot get the names (like Shaman for Xiamen) right - so that viewers without the background info on China may not be able to relate the names with the actual places. Fujian becomes "fuin", Quanzhou becomes "Cheno", "Chen Joo". Quanzhou is "Chuanchew" in the local Minnan dialect - attrociously transliterated "Chin Chow" , "Chin Chew" etc etc, and Zaiton by the Arabs.
