Lost Island ThemePark is located in Waterloo, Iowa. This brand new theme park just opened on June 18, 2022
Ride filmed July 2022
I'm always impressed when a non-Disney & non-Universal park pulls off a fairly good attraction. A good mix of practical FX and screens.
And in IOWA!
Very true, this is why it frustrates me that here in the UK they keep focusing on big thrill rides and not immersion based rides... Hex was one of the best in the UK (now closed all the time) at Alton Towers and even that was mediocre compared to things like this and rides from Universal/Disney. Alton Towers is ridiculous for doing this as well because they have a height limit for how high they can build rides but they keep building coasters??? Like wtf are they doing, they have the capability to put some amazing dark rides in that would easily fit in the height limit but no.
Wdym the ride is like 80% screens, a good mix would be around 0%
Same! Especially a brand new park & in IOWA of all places!😮
@@dinonuggies2276 in my opinion o good mix is like 20 percent at Disney but for a park in Iowa the budget isn’t the highest and at that level you kinda need screens to tell the story without it feeling way to artificial
At around 3:26 if you look at the bottom left corner of the 4D screen you can see the Windows taskbar along with software icons for whatever’s running on that particular machine.
True but it still does look like a good ride
Should have alt tabbed
... and the Unreal Engine icon, which is probably what they're using for the visualisations :D
Idk why but that gave me duck hunt on the super Nintendo vibes for Windows 10.
Busted 😆
The Windows taskbar at the bottom of the one screen is what really sells it.
For an opening day attraction of a brand new park, it's really great!! I wish they had saved money on the trackless system and used that budget to fully immerse the scenes. It would've gone a long way. Still better than Webslingers. I'm excited to see this park grow!
Trackless cost more?
@@aidsetab806 yep
I agree. It still looks great but honestly it doesn’t seem like the trackless aspect is really being utilized and adding anything. Could have done a basic dark ride system and added more scenery. While it looks good there is a lot of empty space between and around some scenes.
3:25 you can see the taskbar on the bottom XD
oof yeah indeed
Looks like its running on Unreal Engine :)
I’ve been on this ride and call it “Indiana Jones: Midway Mania”
A Disney and Universal style dark ride in an independent family park, awesome!
The only thing that I have against these kinds of rides that I've been seeing pop up a lot lately... Why trackless? I feel like the entire point of a trackless ride is to sort of have your riders guessing where they're going to go next, or interacting with different set pieces, or taking a different path each time they ride. But it seems like if its really obvious where the car is going next, and its the same ride experience every time, whats the point? Aside from that, it was a good mix of screens and practical sets, which I love.
Maybe trackless actually uses less material and is cheaper in some cases now.
@@mattdaaamon thats a good point - Id have thought all trackless ride systems would be more expensive due to the installation of the complex tracking/charging systems, but Im not a theme park, maybe the technology is improving and is now cheaper than the alternative?
@@mattdaaamon that could potentially be true, but how about the computing system of the carts and the motion sensors? I’d imagine that would be a lot pricier
I have also wondered that about inverted track dark rides. There is no proper utilization of scares below the riders.
They use it Disney for their Star Wars ride. It’s pretty fascinating.
So nice to see a brand new, well executed concept. Amazing!
3:13 Sally Corps once again using the same Cerberus animatronic from El Laberinto del Minotauro and The Challenge of Tutankhamon. They seem to love it hahaha.
Actually that’s hydra
Very great concept, could be polished up a little bit, had areas with just screens and no theming around them. Which is an easy fix, this is certainly going in the right direction. And I would love to ride this ride
I'm just wondering, what is the point of a trackless dark ride if it stays on a single path all the way?
Some of the rides are arcade games though. ( this is a shooting one like a laser blaster one). XD
Easy ability to "tweak" or reconfigure the ride system in the future and safer during emergency shut down evacuations.
Smoother/quieter ride experience.
Wow, great to see my local park getting attention! It’s been my dream to open an immersive park in Iowa. I didn’t think anyone would do it. Hoping for more dark rides and inside attractions that allow for year-round operation.
This looks pretty good! They could do with some cheap rock murals and maybe like cheap styrofoam rocks on some of the blank walls, definitely has potential, and could be a really good, complete experience with some love!
Waterloo is John Deere. And John Deere is Waterloo. Don't MISS the factory tour! Seriously. It even ends in a gift shop!
They definitely spent some money on that amazing ride! It's neat to have a dark ride as the premier ride at a park instead of a coaster. I know that park has two smaller relocated coasters too.
This ride is surprisingly interesting
Much more interesting and inventive than crappy Web Slingers.
best joke ive seen in awhile...
saw the animatronic at iappa. it looked good. its a reprogrammable one that can be changed on the fly. the ride itself likely a redo of a few existing dark rides but ok for kids.
This is very far away from my home but I love this ride
I really dislike shooting dark rides. And this one has way too many screens with little theming on the ground. Maybe the lights were turned up for the preview, but it needs to be darker. I'd definitely skip this one.
px
o
other than the weird dead spaces from the track I like it
This is honestly a very solid and well rounded ride. Hopefully this park kept on whoever designed this ride to design more dark rides in the future
Hope this new theme park gains attention. Cause i see a good opportunity in it.
I rode this two times today! In the front row of the car, it is quite immersive. A little less so in the back row. You are so busy looking for the next target, you don't really see the "blank" areas everyone is mentioning. It flows well from one area to the next.
Love to see that this ride is run by windows 3:30
That’s a sharp looking ride
That was without a doubt, completely awesome! Loved it.
One of the nicest rides i have seen, cool
This is way better than the new Spiderman ride at California Adventure, Disney should learn a lesson from this
I dont think with all the money Disney makes it needs to learn any lesson lol but ok
Considering the spiderman ride u don't even need guns to shoot ? 😂
That Spiderman ride was prob more than half of the cost of this entire park. Disney has such out of control budgets.
True the spiderman rides look kinds bad
The practical theming, scenery and animatronics were wonderful and interesting. I did not care much for the video game screens.
This ride looks very fun even the animatronics in this ride look cool and they move awesome and I love the hole ride 😁
This ride is part Legoland, part Knotts old Voyage To The Iron Reef vibes to it. And the park looks so deserted like the Dubai Park looks in videos.
To think this is in Iowa just baffles me a little bit but it looks really fun
Nice dark ride. They need to add a lot more set elements to many of the rooms to really immerse you in the theming.
3:40 the windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen.....
i will ride there someday...😍
You did pretty good with the glasses! Kudos!
I was there and wow what a fun awesome park, had the chicken fried rice...omg so good. Seriously!
The 4d ride was epic and yes... universal has to step up! Loved the fossil plant prints on the walkways. A very educational and environmental fun park! Will be back next year for Yutaka falls.
And isle casino was right close by!
got a chance to ride this last week. Absolutely impressive. This is a fantastic dark ride! Seriously on par with Disney and Universal. the Lost Island is a great little park with lots of charm. I wish nothing but the best for this new park.
Another attraction I haven't seen before !
That’s one very impressive dark ride, good mix of screens and set pieces. World Class experience and the storyline is great
A very impressive ride
The ride and pre show looks great but the outside looked a lot better in concept art
Where is this new theme park located at? I really want to know!
Waterloo, Iowa
@@iowadarkride Thanks for the info
@@maui3551 No problem!
A solid step in the right direction.
This ride looks awesome!
That's one very impressive dark ride, good mix of screens and set pieces. Word Class experience and the storyline is great
I’ve never seen an Aztec/volcano inspired ride that’s new to me and I’m already in love 😻
What do you mean? You’ve never been on three amigos at wdw? Haha that is sarcasm. They need something great in that big Mayan pyramid tho
That que animatronic was awesome! Look out Lincoln .. this guy is way more realistic
I'm all the way from Indianapolis it's gonna take me a long time to get there but still really cool
I love this park play ori and blind forest and wil of the wisp music while I walk around, it know true good game osts.
Excellent job, liked & Subscribed 👍
I remember see your guide in a video from IAAPA.
A themed ride with a decent and consistent narrative? That alone is pretty cool. I'm guessing the reason the ride is "trackless" despite not having any variation is it might actually be cheaper now to use trackless technology than to build and maintain rotating ride vehicles.
3:24 the windows task bar 💀💀💀
I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s on par with Disney’s primary trackless attractions. It’s not bad but it’s clearly not the same level of immersion as you will find on rise of the resistance, Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway or Mystic Manor.
This may be a dumb idea, but I feel like the rooms should be darker and if anything use spotlights on the props to make it feel more immersive. I feel like that’s the case with many disney/universal dark rides. Theming of this ride was great, but it just felt off because the inside of the ride was really lit up.
Maybe it was just the camera though, I don’t really know
Fantastic! I hope the park is very successful. Thanks for the polarized lens during the interactive animations - that was quite thoughtful!
Not a huge fan of these kinda rides but it looks fine to me, now if only the rest of the park looks similiar
Poseidon Entertainment would be impressed.
Your camera footage is amazing in all conditions, what kind of camera are you using?. Thanks
That was awesome thank you so Sharing
What are all the sayings from the report did he say 2, 3, or 4?
I love this house 🏠 😍 ❤ 💕 💙 ♥ 🏠 😍
Pretty cool!
Is it just me or does the guide voice you hear sound kinda like Tails the fox from Sonic.
This ride is impressive
Looks like the only diff between this and a top quality Disney ride is the queue time. Very noice!
Did you have the entire park to yourself? Kinda looked like it.
Does this have multiple endings?
Iowa?? Are they ALLOWED to have cool things in Iowa?
They just passed a law last year that legalized fun things for us now. Stop by sometime.
This is amazing!
The wide lanes necessary for this track system lose the intimacy. All the scenes are too visible .. total lack of immersion. I don’t like them. The only ride that does this “large where house” style right is Indiana Jones.
Yes! There is so much dead space it breaks the immersion.
Playing my PSVR sitting in my living room looks better than those graphics. Cool enough ride though
In Iowa and I hear no one, not even Waterlooans say hey there is a new theme park now.
Fairly decent looking ride, but my daughter would not like it because she's not a fan of heavy use of video screens as a substitute for a more immersive environment
Very nice good
yep a good start but this ride is like 25 percent done lol where the rest of it!? I'm seeing black screens and long hallways with nothin connecting the themeing. great to nod off too just set it on auto pilot and grab me a blankey and ill be good! woot! i can sleep anywhere! lol
although this is a great ride, i have a feeling that this park is going to go bankrupt.
This ride looks fantastic! So impressed.
Amusement parks with Ghost train and Haunted house maze =Funny
What camera are you using?
Looks very fun and awesome, but the trackless system seems very wasted on this ride. Seems like they could have just used a tracked system to me instead of using more expensive technology
It's cool an all...but why does every new ride have to have lazer guns
The ride lighting is way too bright to create mood.
It looks better in person. Low-light camera video here after all...
We’re is this ride at
If im being completly honest its not a very good ride i would expect it to be a little bit more technologically advanced
3:40 Windows Taskbar haha
iowa
Like being in a mall with cheap patricians. It is sad this is what passes for a dark ride today.
Good idea, but meh. I mean, A LOT of screens and the theming Isn't too much immersive, looks like a bit empty
the arcade segments were so bad. Just a projector screen in a black featureless room. Should've been built into the environment, make the projection look like it's part of the landscape, use it to give depth to the backdrops and set pieces. Also one of those screens literally had the windows taskbar up, super embarassing lmaoo.
Peppers ghost effect ruined then
Ride this or Spider-Man? No contest.
Only marginally better than jumunji
Literally almost the same thing as men in Black
Must be nice to set fire to a big pile of money that could be used for good.
Even thought this ride is another soulless shootem up. I gotta give them credit that they do what most rides like these don’t. Squinching
Which from
Lost Island is always so abandoned in every photo and video I see. I swear to god it’s a money laundering front or something
Looks boring
