I was 16 years old, living in Daytona Beach when Pedro Rodriguez drove the Gulf-Porsche 917 to victory in the 1971 24 Hours. After the race, the fans were allowed to come down to the pits and see the cars. Standing next to a 917 at idle is something I will never, ever forget. Your entire body vibrated to those 12 cylinders.
I love seeing and hearing these classic race cars out on a track, they're no longer pushed to their limits but they are active and they are getting to amaze us all over again. Restoring classic cars and parking them in a museum is tragic. (BTW, I feel the same way about classic airplanes, they need to fly!)
These cars were capable of what, 240 mph at LeMans 50+ years ago? Amazing piece of equipment I'd say. And, one of the most iconic and evocative race cars to ever roll on our planet. Simply awesome.
It must have been a crazy thing to do, driving such a soaring rocket 50 years ago... what an impressive machine. What a sound of an engine. Goosebumps!!!
Last weekend I saw the exact same car (#21 ; 015/035) here at the Historic Grand Prix demo in Holland. It was the first time for me to see (and hear) a 917. Video on my channel ;)
It's so quiet and refined, I could hardly tell the engine was running - NOT! That noise is like a vaccination against Snowflakes for me! No EV will ever sound that ballsy.

There are some cars that have a sublime sound, and then there's this.
There is also American engines, which beat all the German mofas:):)

The sound of a Flat-12, what a rare beast
that sound at 0:28 is one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with the Porsche 917.
Great car like the Ferrari and the GT40 sound
For me its that tone right at 1:00 mark. That long harmonic drone of 12 pistons firing in harmony.
Then listen to a mercedes benz sauber c9 or c11 you'll fall in love with the twin turbo v8
The most beautiful sportscar in history.

Excellent, possibly the next best sound after a Merlin 12 cylinder.
I'd say second to the audi sport Quattro. the 5 cylinder sound is incredible like these are
With all due respect please add a Beechcraft 18 twin with P&W radials

Ohh my fucking god, I love the Sound ❤
A symphony of cylinders…
Sounds like a mix of a Porsche 991 911 gt3rs and a Lamborghini Murciélago
I can only imagine how fast the Kansas City Chiefs guy Rasheed rice would be going if he had this car but I would also say not very long
This video needs to be WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY longer!
6 hrs at a minimum. 🤔
The only ONe for me

sounds like an abusive father... i don't know what I mean by this
How stupid to ruin this video with a music track, especially given the title of the video.
Your songs ruined the video
Turn that shit music off. Omg. Really?
