    Skar Audio designed the VXF subwoofer series to have the perfect combination of SQ and SPL features alike. Utilizing a high temperature 3" dual voice coil, and massive 300oz motor, the VXF's get extremely loud while sounding incredible. Conservatively rated at 3,000 watts max power.

    The difference in them is the box you can't take a sub that needs lower tuned box and put them in the same box there is going to be a big difference so box is the biggest thing you need a box that's tuned around 30 hz and a box tuned around 35-40 hz to be able to test and get more of an accurate feel for each sub in my opinion

    • @theejoeylee
      @theejoeylee 2 года назад +6

      I mean true but a lot of people are just going to drop a new Sub in their box, plus a lot of vehicles only have a certain amount of space so building a new box may not be possible, that being said I feel like this is still a valid test for those reasons. But you are absolutely correct it should be in a box built by the TS parameters to really know the differences in sound quality ,and output.

      @Babyk Most videos I watch make it seem like it doesn't get low as it should, but there's a whole bunch of videos with the Sundown X playing lows real well. I have the vxf 12s, but I'm about to get the Sundown X v3 12s.

    • @drjd2real
      @drjd2real 2 года назад +4

      @Babyk I understand that people think they play lows good, but these videos are not that far off. You must have heard the most shitty setup if you can't tell the difference between a 95 pound sub vs a 57 pound sub. There is a guy on RUclips that had 4 15 zvx and switched to Sundown and said it was better. The x12 v3 is 70 pounds. I've been building boxes for a long time and some subs just don't do good. I have some old Sa15s that don't play lows worth a damn, but I dropped some Audioque 15s street duty in the same box and the lows were very deep. I don't need any 15s now because I already have too many subs now. I don't need the Sundown X either, but I just want to try them out.

    • @drjd2real
      @drjd2real 2 года назад +2

      @Babyk The weight means more motor force. You can't meter higher than a zv5 because they take more power than a zvx. 2 zv5s can take 8000 watts all day, but the zvx would burn up. I could care less why someone switched to Deaf Bonce, but I know it is a very good brand. Sundown is on sale and I'm not trying to spend 800-900 on one sub. Like I said before, you must have heard a bad Sundown install because the zvx can't keep up. Skar would have put Sundown out of business by now if that were true. I've never heard anyone on any forum recommend the zvx over Sundown. It can't keep up with an American Bass xmaxxx Monster or DC level 5 which is similar to zv5's power handling. I'm not trying to turn you against Skar. If you like it, that's all that matters because some people think L7s sound good, but they don't. The DNR sub they stopped making could compete, but the zvx is not on the same level as the ones I named.

Loudest I've ever heard in person, which isn't as loud as competition stuff obviously, but never heard a better sounding/shaking sub in my own experience. Not sure of the longevity of them yet but so far AWESOME!! subs. My 20yr home audio theater build is 48,000 REAL WATTS, CLEAN RMS and is audiophile grade SQ. But my Semi on the other hand, I just wanted to get outright loud.
    Mission accomplished!!! Currently running 2 ZVX 12"d1 in my 2020 Peterbuilt, in a compound loaded isobaric 6th order, tuned at 28-50hz. Everyone swears my truck is full of subs LMAO. Lows not as good but It's def louder than my X15's where by far. not to mention way less weight and take less space. It is SOOOO LOUD You absolutely cannot see straight at 45-50 hz. and when it hits, it literally feels like someone hit your entire body with a giant feather pillow. For what I payed for them. But imo! It's a BUDGET STEAL NO DOUBT!

    I just got the VTX today and after looking at sundown. I'm going to base all my hearing ability off of a JL audio w7 which got stole out of my car a few years back. I don't expect this speaker to even come close. I am very impressed with the build of Skar! I am literally waiting on the FedEx truck now for the Skar box... I have watched a few of your videos and they are very informative coming from a ex contester. Just getting back in it after 12 years. I'm running mine off of a Directed D -2400 at the time I paid around $2,300 for this amplifier one ohm stable. I am very excited to see what this sub does in my car. I believe once broke in though through the controls of a really good head unit me I'm a Pioneer fan. The head unit gives you so much flexibility for the subwoofer. And once broke in which is going to take a while with the VTX model the foam will become able to flex more. The spider will break in before the foam gasket will. At least that's what I've learned over time but I'm sure you break all your speakers in. Me I like that a little more base than anything else I can contour it to my own ear specifications hopefully. But wanted to thank you for making these videos I know you do get money for these awesome speakers. But I understand what you do takes a lot out of your back! I installed for years! Except back then we didn't have nothing like this! And I may just upgrade to sundown but I believe the build behind the subwoofer I chose is a lot better as far as moving air around and keeping the speaker itself at a good cool running temperature

    Good comparison video Parker. Definitely was looking forward to this showdown. The VXF gets my vote. I like SPL, but I also need my music to sound good, and the VXF seems more tight and controlled and gets lower. I'll save $120 and get 2 VXF 15's in the future because they will easily handle the 3,500 ish watts my Orion XTR 2500.1 puts out. Looking forward to the Soundqubed HDX series tests, and hopefully a $250 - $300 sub showdown in the future as well. That's the price range I will be shopping in for sure, and I'm sure a lot of others shop in that price range as well for 1 or 2 of the 1500 to 2000 watt range subwoofers.

    • @josephmuniz9959

      At that time I was running an MD 8k (taramps). Now was it worth it. I believe so, main reason is it was much more efficient and I had a bit more bandwidth (range). Now I’ve moved to one 18” in a plain ported. I will admit that at times I miss the SPL part of the 6th order but the flatness of this setup it awesome. I would say if you have the money build one and also build a nice ported box @ around 30-32 Hz and see what sounds best.

      technically the vxf would be getting worse and less sound with higher ohms, 1 ohm produces the most power out of amp and lets say 4 ohms would produce 3 times less. so if a amp is 4000 watt 1 ohm stable and 4000 watt, that would mean 2 ohm would be 3450 watt, 3 2750 watt and so forth. so in his case the vxf was taking more power, and producing hard hitting LOW fq bass, while the zvx was produce a faster and higher fq, while using less power.

    I have a skv2 2500 pushing dual 1ohm zvx 12s in the skar prefabed ported box. Tuned at 33 hertz. Sounds insane. Only upgrade i have is the big 3 and added another battery. I should of gone with the 3500 but was on a budget. All I can say is that skar backs up what it says on the audio. The lows in my set up is crazy. If you can't hear it, you will definitely feel it

    Also not many people take into account the sensitivity rating...the vxf has a higher sensitivity rating so it doesn't take as much to get as loud...like my ddx 12 has a 90plus sensitivity rating so it gets loud quick especially since I only have 800 watts going to it

    How could anybody give this a thumbs down OMG best video sub comparison I have ever seen dude you're awesome beautiful taking the chance with your subwoofers with that tar amplifier knowing how much distortion those amplifiers have. Just for the record I'm pushing 60 years old always been a DJ for many years and your video by far is the best. I would go with the vxf because I listen to all kinds of music the quality of the sound matters to me loudness is always there . I do have a question I'm ordering a 15 vxf 1500 watt RMS SQ SPL . Im thinking 4 ohm because when i get the other one i can wire down to 1 ohm or should I get 2 ohm? , how would it do with audiopipe 1800.1 1800 w RMS.

    I didn't really have a choice, because I'm running an 18" ZVX. Out of maybe 30 enclosures I've built, I never had one dig deeper, or sound cleaner. Maybe an 18" VXF would sound a little better.... "IF" they made one. I'm an SQL kind of guy, but I think the enclosure, and the DSP tuning make more difference than the actual sub woofer in question. Good video though :) TY.

    • @knucklestheechidna5718
      @knucklestheechidna5718 Год назад

      I def agree. You really need to give a ZVX or any big sub like that some serious cubes to get it in it's element. Also meeting port area spec at bare minimum and ratio of port area per cube. But then again I do slot ports I know aeros can get away with less port area. I ran every sub size except 18 and I'm between going with a ZVX 18 or two vxf 15s prob will get the one 18.

    VXF for the win. Look at the specs. If you listen to your subs and not just burp them, the FS and frequency response kills the ZVX. Same coil size and power handling. Leads are every bit as good on the VXF. Taking Parkers bias out of the equation. If you like something because of looks that's ok too. No worries. Performance wise the VXF is a clear choice. Of course Parker likes the Black Juice on his coils for whatever reason since there is NO verified evidence that any of the coatings make a difference. He really is hung up on the coating and unfounded criticism directed at the uncoated coil. Kind of weird. Both very strong subs at decent prices.

    Parker, aren't you glad I suggested to you several times to do this video? You're coming up on 100K views! Congrats! Glad I could help. Another suggestion I have would be adding a Fi sub into the mix (Fi Neo). Fi now builds them in about a week, not 3 months as before. Eventually you could compare Fi vs Deaf Bonce vs Sundown vs DC vs PSI vs Crossfire. I suggest having several different boxes on hand (volume, adjustable port area, and adjustable tuning) and use the one that is closest to the sub's manufacturer's volume suggestion (middle of the road) bcuz using the same box for all subs will hurt the SPL score for subs built to require a larger enclosure (3ft³), and larger port area (16in² per net vol ft). I also suggest you remind viewers in every video the box specs and say how just bcuz a sub doesn't perform well in this specific box doesn't mean it can't have better SPL if in appropriate suggested enclosure.

    Hey Parker your doing awesome with your channel really stepping it up! You are very familiar with American Bass and I cannot figure them out there prices (from there site) features and specs are all over the place... On there site in the 15" $200-$300 price range the elite is the most expensive? And it's steel and 150oz magnet? The xfl is 2nd with 200oz cast but 1000w rating, then XR 200oz cast with 1500w then the TNT 200oz cast and 1500wrms?? I'm confused why is the steel elite the top one is That price range?? I can't get a 2nd NVX VCW15 at moment nor a factory recone for my broke VCW15.. so I may switch it up to American bass but I'm baffled at there prices and ratings, I do not want an steel basket it just seems cheesy plus may mount them inverted also so the elite is out of the choices.
