I knew what was up with MSNBC after Melissa Harris-Perry left & why she left. Now I love Joy Reid and understand her having to keep her job; but you can see the tightrope she has to walk at times.
Don't trust any black face in a high place. What she can and can't say has been set by corporate interest not ours. And yes they will let her criticize Trump but not advocate fully for black america. The Democrat party and CBC is also very do nothing and problematic but she wont criticize them. We have to break out of the you bad you good model. There is a lot of nuance out there. Really it's rich Republicans and Democrats cleaning all of our clock and she is there to help that not us.
I don’t include Joy Reid in this. Joy has been consistent in staying on Trump and the Republican’s neck- on her show and social media. She also does great pieces that go in depth and discusses things that others aren’t. I also think Eugene Robinson is credible. He’s a real journalist and usually on point. He doesn’t change his stance just because he does Morning Joe.
Dr. Hunter, honestly I think you’re it. Your channel is the source we need to discern and decipher current events. ALSO to inform from the perspectives that aren’t engineered propaganda and entertainment commentary. We need and deserve the truth. Delivered by trusted sources… from YOUR network Dr. Hunter. Yes, you’ve created a network. But the truth comes at a price. It makes you a target. So I understand why this precious platform is structured the way it is. Stay strong and thank you Dr. Hunter for your service to our community. 🖤💚❤️
Eugene Robinson expresses the truth within the bounds he's forced to work. Al Sharpton gives coverage to Morning Joe but he speaks on topical issues for black folks in his own show. Joy Reid attempts to bring it but she bites her tongue on many occasions. Eddie Glaude is telling the truth to Morning Joe but he's trying to comfort their feelings in the process, his pleadings with them is exasperating to watch. Honestly, I really miss Tiffany Cross!
Karen Hunter is the voice of the people! I scream this almost everyday I need my people to stop being satiated by symbolism. Black faces in high spaces with no action is nothing!
Orlando Jones character on "American Gods," Mr. Nansi is an example of the kind of Black faces we need representing us in the media. "Always question the knowledge" regardless of the sources.
Yes, international news sources & multiple sources are critical to being able getting to facts. As for being skeptical - Yup! My depression baby Grandpa always used to say "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear". This ain't a new game, people just ain't got a clue how it works...
Who can we trust. Not most. We truly need to bring on and interview the BM and BW who are involved in and have a history of working and volunteering in the Black communities, ie, the brotha who has been honorably working at the community center for 35 years. This does, however, require us to let go of our own elitism. I know BM and BW who think you’re stupid and worthless if you don’t have a master’s or doctorate degree, therefore, your opinions, ideas, and concerns are invalid.
LeMonde is AMAZING!!! I too just read and watch international news --> MHz Networks is great news source...Also PBS is still useful and have great news journalists...
No we do not and that is why I am tuned into you for clarity on some issues. I no longer watch corporate news. Always knew that Morning Joe was for self. And Mika married the boss and got her promotion. Yet she is telling women how to succeed.😭
I have been a voracious information junkie since I was old enough to read. I had a Sunday routine for almost 5 decades. I had our local daily newspaper delivered; my weekend gift was a trip to a local news stand for both Chicago papers, as well as both Detroit along with the NYT. I could then sit down in the evening and consume all the goodies on my printed buffet. Now my local paper is owned by USA Today, I periodically glance over the Chicago/Detroit online, and haven't read a New York Times in years. My media choices have dwindled down to just a few, like Joy Reid, Lawrence O'Donnell and one of two others at MSNBC. I have stopped watching CNN, due to the increased appearances of Scott Jennings, as well as Dana Bash. I think by 2028, it won't matter, since I might just look for a one-bedroom studio cave in which to dwell.
Last Christmas my nephew who is in college told me he didn’t think Helen Keller was a real person or if she did exist she wasn’t really blind and deaf!! My jaw dropped! Apparently this was an internet hoax, but I worry for the generation behind me. (I’m s 45 yr old xennial) unsurprisingly his mother voted for Trump because as she said “Harris could not understand the complexity of sending troops into battle.” I flat out told her she was racist and sexist. I voted for Harris. As did my husband and my parents.
Trust balance perspective, trust journalism that seeks to give perspective and not infuse strong opinions, trust opinions that aren’t afraid to speak against a popular narrative, trust anyone that has a mic that thinks critically without prejudice. I’ll say this Bill Maher as of late is beginning to opine on the ridiculousness we see in media
I don't have cable so I don't look at cable news. I just look at clips on RUclips. I love joy Reid And Chris Hayes, that's it. I still look at local news, eyewitness news on channel 7 and news 4. At 630 I watch NBC nightly news with Lester Holt, And every Sunday 60 minutes. I just need you to report the news, I don't need any one's opinion🤷🏿
Joy, Lawrence,Rachel,Alex, ruhl ,Nicole seem to be holding it down.anyone talking up democracy and pointing out those attacking the constitution etc are on the right side.talking about preserving rights are on the right side when it comes to cable news.outside of that, independent free press doing the same
What's sad to me is that I go out here and grind on a daily basis send when I have a chance I usually will come to social media and see what is going on. Up until November the 7th 2024 I listen to some of these people in the rhetoric that they spewed. I'm thinking they're providing me with vital information to help me when the reality is they're just spreading fear and confusion. Then that go and sit with their colleagues on the other side of the aisle eating filet mignon drinking the best wines receiving the top awards meanwhile regular folks like me are anxious and feeling hopeless. Even in Congress there are members on certain platforms where the article reads so and so called out Trump or so and so called out gabbert. My thought since having my eyes opened is that for years since Trump was in office before people have been talking about the things he's doing that are negative but no one does anything about it. Even when things could be done they wasn't. It's sad that the news media and Congress and people in positions running this world want us regular people to simply play Red Rover with ourselves. They want us to be mad at each other when the reality is they're the problem.
I think that's the major issue!!! You and others like you brother are getting your "News" from people who are paid to and upheld to have a certain opinion, mean while 9 times outta 10 it's a bold face lie and young people and others suck it up because it's on one of their favorite social media platforms!!? That's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard! Bottom lie....do your research!
Just because you like a certain platform or podcaster doesn't mean that's news! These people are paid by others that don't like you (black people)! Or have your best interest in mind, so if ya get duped then you kinda asked for it if ya listening to Fox News, Tik Tok, Facebook etc.
I don’t trust anyone in that thumbnail Maddow is so overrated, Joy Reid sometimes, Joe from Mississippi what do you expect, Willie go along to get along, Minka side piece
Think of it this way. Corporations which includes the democrat party wont allow you to ascend if you are not just for towing the company line. And corporations have never had black peoples interest in mind. We should be moving way more left and fighting with people like Bernie thats against the corporations. But black people we just stuck. Whatever the black boule say do we do at our own peril.
Corporate America forces all employees to conform. We need to think about what isn't shown or stated to get the full story. These days, US news is more sleight of hand than fact-based. Non-UK European sources are more objective than vertically-integrated, friends-and-family-owned US "news" outlets.
Do not get your news from social media. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is also a great news source even through, as he says often, his show is a comedy show and not “School” or a news show- he gives really well researched stories and offers solutions for the problems he investigates on his show.
I hear the frustration. I think you can listen to these people and realize that you are not getting their unadulterated opinion on black issues. They would not be able to be their if they were giving that type of opinion. Many of these people are for black people in the space they are allowed to occupy. When they get the power and bring as many dollars as other white figures on these shows, then they will be able to give you that. As far as black issues not becoming better that's a collective failure, because we have yet to come together and support one another. That's not to say this criticism is entirely untrue. I just don't think it's completely fair and accurate.
Leave Rev Al alone.... He's there for the black boomer audience..Jst saying an they have some young black news correspondent too... Jst saying. I left MSNBC viewing back on 2016 I do tune in to Joy Reid show , Lawrence O'Donnell...Rev Al is on Morning Joe ...I stopped watching them a long time ago... But not because of Rev Al ... He usually offers his opinions when ask and most of his opinions are fact based ...So what's the problem... I could see if it was Candace Owens or Brandon Tate ect ...
One thing to help get educated is to read reputable and academic books and journals. It should be noted that PBS takes a lot funding from multi-millionaire s by way of nonprofits and foundations in addition to funding from the government and individuals. So be careful with PBS and other corporate news outlets.
I listen to BBC news because I want to hear what people outside of the US is saying about this country.
Both are important but BBC doesn’t discuss issues relevant to the African American community.
I knew what was up with MSNBC after Melissa Harris-Perry left & why she left. Now I love Joy Reid and understand her having to keep her job; but you can see the tightrope she has to walk at times.
So are you people saying don't trust Joy. Joy is going at Trump's neck. More so than anyone else.
I do not trust Joy. Or corporate-backed MSNBC. They are beholden to corporations to spin the narratives they do. Not to the people.
Joy Reid has been right on point all year. I don’t put her with the others on the network.
Facts. C'mon. What do you think a mainstream journalist is supposed to say?
I don’t include Joy Reid in this. Joy has been consistent in staying on Trump and the Republican’s neck- on her show and social media. She also does great pieces that go in depth and discusses things that others aren’t. I also think Eugene Robinson is credible. He’s a real journalist and usually on point. Educate your own. Build your own. Support your own.
100 percent facts.

Tiffany is on Native land podcast
If I watch MSNBC, I watch Joy Reid and Lawrence O' Donnell.
They are just two more corporate puppets upholding the status quo. Check out independent media. They aren't selling big pharma and weapons!
Joy not with them Trump people
Love your honesty Karen. That’s what brought me here and keeps me here, even when I disagree with you ❤
AMERICA SHOWED U MORE THAN 10x who they R y’all keep the faith I’ll keep it real to my degree I see fit
Karen Hunter is the voice of the people! I scream this almost everyday I need my people to stop being satiated by symbolism. Black faces in high spaces with no action is nothing!
Its not the faces; its the hearts and minds on TV that's the problem.
Tiffany Cross was a good example of Black Progressive opinion an always based in fact ..like most of the Black journalist on MSNBC...
I thought she was great. MSNBC turned out to be such a disappointment.
Everyone is subject to examination...How does it free us???♥️🖤💚
The Most High is your only refuge

AMEN ❤
Orlando Jones character on "American Gods," Mr. Nansi is an example of the kind of Black faces we need representing us in the media. "Always question the knowledge" regardless of the sources.
Deadass but he couldn't even be represented in a fantasy show let alone bringing that energy to a news outlet
Yes, international news sources & multiple sources are critical to being able getting to facts. As for being skeptical - Yup! My depression baby Grandpa always used to say "believe half of what you see and none of what you hear". This ain't a new game, people just ain't got a clue how it works...

No I don't think the right people are representing us on tv, corporate media tells them what to say
Joy Reid is certainly trustworthy.
What
I'm checking out LeMonde right now and will definitely recommend to my friends who care about expanding their horizons. Thanks Professor Hunter.
Excellent question
Great question! Thanks!
We have all been in those spaces. I'm not here for your comfort and validation. Too many have a hard time acknowledging that.
Eugene an Rev Al are both there on MSNBC for the Black Baby Boomer audience...
Can’t trust any of them they have their own interests @ heart
Yes yes yes! Double check all sources!
Yes!! I also like to study!
Great conversation!
Thank you for being real!
LeMonde is AMAZING!!! I too just read and watch international news --> MHz Networks is great news source...Also PBS is still useful and have great news journalists...
Verify everything. The truth should be in more than one place.
No we do not and that is why I am tuned into you for clarity on some issues. I no longer watch corporate news. Always knew that Morning Joe was for self. And Mika married the boss and got her promotion. Yet she is telling women how to succeed.😭
"Trust But Verify" (emphasis on verify). # DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE how quickly we forget Chuck D's warning from 1988.
I listen to you and Don Calloway
thank you.

In a word. No.

Good chances to that answer is an absolute NO!

Where is Lawrence O'Donnell?
If he’s smart, he left the country!
Lawrence has always kept his nose to the truth.
You, Karen Hunter!

Yes we have become a universal people. Utilize the the universal media resources. I love BBC, Amnophore?
Hi Professor Hunter, can you recommend any other reputable media sources? How about The Guardian?
Hello Professor Hunter and commenters
Which us? There are many us.
If you have to ask, maybe you are not part of us.❤
