Rose Zee being strong isn't getting her any movies deals, being strong isnt helping her voice be heard enough to make a difference, I say she close her mouth and do her job and fire her none experienced husband for destroying her career with diva demands, she should have played the game till she got to the top then start making demands like Oprah did.

Oh she is consistent, because she don't lie. No way. She tells it like it is and people can't handle it. People are not used to honesty, and it seems everyone has something to hide, so they do NOT like honesty. Funny thing is; she woulda never exposed anyone's "secrets" because she not built that way, not in her makeup. So their fear of her honesty is why they blackballed her. Just think of the wonderful things she could be doing...

Who did she expose HERSELF!!!! She know why the Monique show ended...and if she stop pointing the blame on others and just focus on herself...pick up and move on.....she’s done other movies for less money...it’s always confusing why she never wanted to accept the $50k?? And she is still singing the same blame song and we are in the year 2021...guess what everyone has moved on and she’s stuck...when she was to promote precious which initially had a low budget that SHE accepted willingly...she refused to promote it even after Oprah called her and offered her jet to take her to the movie premiers...she still refused and she went on to to drag people who were there to bring her up to the next phase in her career she BLEW it...Whoopi gave her a chance...after the show she tried to drag her from a personal conversation they had...soooo needless to say I would love for Monique to move on and reach her endeavors because she does great work...zeitgeist the blaming needs to stop and look within

It's been 4 years ago that Mo'niek had this ao interviews. Has anyone seen her in anything in these last 4 years, coz I don't think so and she couldn't play Cookie like Taraji P. Henson anyway, it would've been a totally different character, that doesn't fit, not as Lucious wife or the look of a sexy woman like Cookie was. Having said this, it's a shame she d I didn't want to promote Precious outside the US, all expenses paid for, but not money for promotional purposes, she should've gone, coz now she seemed to think doing the movie itself is enough, which, in the real world isn't the case, esp if it wins prices like the Oscar and certainly Cannes, so I get why they didn't like that, but it is not in her contract? That's her excuse, that she didnt get paid for it to promote her own role and the movie, so what, if all expenses are paid and you're flown in a private plane. Her refusal to go is just unprofessional, imo. Also for the other actors, who did go!

    • @DyvercityPossibility
      @DyvercityPossibility 2 года назад +5

The interviewer is not listening to exactly what Mo' is saying and receive her answes. He is chasing to ask the questions but not making follow-ups to her responses. My opinion is that no empathy is showed to her pain. He is not even looking at her body language instead he is awaiting her next question. It almost feels like the interviewer already has the answers to the questions before he even asked them... real sad

@@Boadicea6 For the small amount of money Monique was paid for doing Precious. I believe just doing the movie was enough. Monique did it as a favor to Lee Daniel's. Also the real reason she didn't go to promote the movie is because she had a few days off and chose to spend quality time with her children and husband at home which she had been looking forward to doing. How can anyone not respect her for wanting to spend time with her family and she has said this on many occasions and never changed her story. Also when you are traveling to promote a movie the actors get put in hotels for free and travel for free so it wasn't like they were doing her a favor by picking up the bill. I have been following Monique for sometime now and one thing Monique has done is she always tells the same story which is easy to do when your telling the truth. The money she got paid for Precious was laughable but like Monique said she did it as a favor. To make up for the low pay they should had offered her a percentage of the earnings but no one knew Precious was going to be a hit especially because it was a low budget movie.
I love the fact Monique sticks to her words and Guns. Very few celebrities do that today and while she has done that friends have gone against her and bad mouthed her especially when she was feuding with Daniel's, Oprah and Tyler Perry thinking Monique was overreacting. When Lee Daniel's & Tyler Perry went public and apologized to Monique those same people who went against Monique didn't know where to put there faces at. So good for Monique for sticking to the truth cause it's not always worth playing the game. It's more important to have self respect and self worth. Monique is one hell of a strong woman and she isn't only doing it for herself she is also fighting for those who want to make it in this business especially those who are not a size 8 with a 27inch waist and long blonde hair. It's so much harder for the Monique's and Miss Sidibe's to make it as actresses. So I applaud and respect women like Monique because they got famous with just pure talent. Not because daddy had connections or because she looks slim and beautiful in every gown she puts on. Her talent got her to where she is today. I admire those so much more because they literally worked for it and earned it and most of all deserve it!!!

    • @Boadicea6

@@rickyparrilla2426 Girl, you're way too much involved in this, but to each their own. I didn't even know her b4 this movie came out and in the end, it only hurts her career since then. She could've had a career after that movie and all she did may help the next black actress not to make certain decisions, like wanting a piece of the proceeds, that's all in the contract you sign, so in the end it's good for the next black actor in such a position and not make the same mistakes she did, which took all the good of the movie's place through backlash, media gossip and wounded egos!! Thank God Ms. Sinibe did do her part promoting the movie and the roles she played since then, unlike Monique, who kinda killed her career. I'm not saying who's right or wrong, just what the end result turned out to be for the players in this and Perry and the others, who are all on their A Game. I'm white, so I'm more pragmatic, she's black and thought she was more important than the movies message, she probebly thought abt those who will come after her, although I doubt that's the 1st thing that she thought abt, it was all abt her and that's a big no no in the movie business. It's a cutthroat business and if you're no A list actor, you do have to do promotional work, esp Award shows. What was she thinking, she's no Oprah, who was just a producer after it was made and even she was there! I know her reasoning, but that's not good enough, not in this business and certainly not if you're not even that famous outside the US, but she didn't think abt that one either, that's egotistical imo.

I will not watch the Precious movie, as I've seen enough trauma via movies for a lifetime, and want to build in another way, yet, Monique is beautiful. The way she speaks about her family, wow! You're right it definitely has costed her.
Monique had every right to say no to promoting precious without being paid to do so but it cost her. She did nothing wrong by saying no because that was her right to make that choice. But, Actors are not paid to promote movies. So by her saying no they viewed her as being uncooperative and being difficult to work with. That's how they view the situation and they have a right to feel that way and to not want to use her on any future projects. So she can't say they are wrong for that.

And we all know there is negativity and a lot of untruth behind gossip. Mo'Nique knew the "consequences" of her speaking out back then as she does now. She was prepared. I stand with Mo'Nique. In 2023, Taraji shared her pain from Hollywood’s CONTINUED DISRESPECT of compensation to black actors. It’s inspiring to see brave folks like Mo’Nique speak up for what’s right, even against the powers that be.

Coming back to this interview adds clarity. Monique's issue was originally with Mr. Lee Daniels. He was upset she didn't mention him at the Oscars. Danny Strong said she didn't receive the offers for the Bulter and Cookie. Lion's gate told Monique her business was with Lee Daniels and she had a 5% back end deal with Precious with residuals netting $15k. Lee called Monique demanding, insinuated she was difficult to work with and said she was blackballed. Monique said she didn't buy into the black balled because the offers and scripts never stopped coming in. The offers never reached $1M and never made sense based on her winning the award. She only mentions Tyler with what she should make after awards season. She only mentions Oprah after Lee called her to tell her Oprah signed on the Bulter and she gave her blessings cause she knew how much the project meant to Lee. Tyler admitted his own difficulty with Monique offered $450k and admitted she didn't have to do international press (contractually) in his recording. Oprah has never addressed it. The Bafta speech by Lee that Monique was mad at them was another factor. Lee had apologized. She told the Oscars they needed to fly her team out to give an Oscar the following year! They declined. This was never about Tyler and Oprah. Their names keeps the story alive tho. I'm glad Katt afforded her the opportunity to join him on tour!

Then when personal TRUTH is needed the Most. It will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE for personal use. Be rich on the inside; more than the outside. You may think she is ridiculous but that does not take away from her worth, it does not take away from her talent and it does not take away from the fact that she represents many black women in Hollywood that are not getting their dues. This is not a new thing. This goes back to Hattie and Eartha and will affect newer generations to come. This affects you as well. See you are probably not making as much as your white counterpart and don't even realize it. If you were a loyal negro you wouldn't have said a word. Cause you don't have to like her to respect her.

Carretta Roberts she is fake as fuck bro, everything about her is fake and off-putting.
She is arrogant, conceited and an entitled narcissist.
Perfect example is the obesity thing, she couldn't even admit that she shamed women for being "slim" (healthy) and then turned around and SLIMMED down because her husband was concerned about her HEALTH; why? Because that would make her a hypocrite which she IS.
Idk if she was actually blackballed (because everything out of her mouth is a lie), but if she did for the reasons they claimed? I completely agree, she should be blackballed
Btw her account of her demands is a proven lie, she is outright lying and trying to spin the story to exonerate her rediculous attitude.

K Brown she’s referring to black women in the entertainment industry and the inequality that exists for women of colour. She is paving the way for future actresses (black and white) to push for pay equality.

She’s not the first, nor is going to be the last when it comes to speaking about inequality. Hollywood isn’t decent & she should speak about her experience

This interview was very heartfelt, honest, & profound.... and should not go unnoticed. This sister, Mo'Nique is what I call a real - Black Woman - human being working in Hollywood(Not falling for "So, how's the project going? It's all gravy" rituals)... She earns her money the honest and respectful way. She has not forgotten what it means to first Love GOD, Self & Family. She KNOWS WHO holds the future for her and her family. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HEART AND MIND. STAY STRONG QUEEN Mo'Nique!!!

@Jordan Sharpe, Hun, If you are going to call someone stupid please do so within the form of a properly constructed sentence. Your post should have looked as such: "vly703 You're stupid and don't know the business. When she signed on, it was a low budget film that no one thought would be that good. They never expected that"

I love Mo For standing up like a Strong Black African Woman against the odds. She didn't sellout. Speak Sister. I am a witness to being blackballed. Trust me people black balling does happen; That does not make her an angry black woman. GOD got Mo and her Family. What GOD has For Mo is for Mo. She just might out shine every last one of them. To GOD be the Glory. Shine Sister because in doing so your testimony is not only teaching us women but our young ladies how to stand-up, speak elegantly and be factual. Well Done My Lady. GOD is using you Warrior. In Jesus Name. Amen
