Every interview I have watched have been the same. I know I'm late on watching this, but I stand behind what she's done. She is setting a platform for any other black female/male that comes with this same situation. She should demand respect and equality. I love everything she stands for. It's been 4 years ago that Mo'niek had this ao interviews. Has anyone seen her in anything in these last 4 years, coz I don't think so and she couldn't play Cookie like Taraji P. Henson anyway, it would've been a totally different character, that doesn't fit, not as Lucious wife or the look of a sexy woman like Cookie was. Having said this, it's a shame she d I didn't want to promote Precious outside the US, all expenses paid for, but not money for promotional purposes, she should've gone, coz now she seemed to think doing the movie itself is enough, which, in the real world isn't the case, esp if it wins prices like the Oscar and certainly Cannes, so I get why they didn't like that, but it is not in her contract? That's her excuse, that she didnt get paid for it to promote her own role and the movie, so what, if all expenses are paid and you're flown in a private plane. Her refusal to go is just unprofessional, imo. Also for the other actors, who did go!
The interviewer is not listening to exactly what Mo' is saying and receive her answes. He is chasing to ask the questions but not making follow-ups to her responses. My opinion is that no empathy is showed to her pain. He is not even looking at her body language instead he is awaiting her next question. It almost feels like the interviewer already has the answers to the questions before he even asked them... real sad
@@Boadicea6 For the small amount of money Monique was paid for doing Precious. I believe just doing the movie was enough. Monique did it as a favor to Lee Daniel's. Also the real reason she didn't go to promote the movie is because she had a few days off and chose to spend quality time with her children and husband at home which she had been looking forward to doing. How can anyone not respect her for wanting to spend time with her family and she has said this on many occasions and never changed her story. Also when you are traveling to promote a movie the actors get put in hotels for free and travel for free so it wasn't like they were doing her a favor by picking up the bill. I have been following Monique for sometime now and one thing Monique has done is she always tells the same story which is easy to do when your telling the truth. The money she got paid for Precious was laughable but like Monique said she did it as a favor. To make up for the low pay they should had offered her a percentage of the earnings but no one knew Precious was going to be a hit especially because it was a low budget movie. I love the fact Monique sticks to her words and Guns. Very few celebrities do that today and while she has done that friends have gone against her and bad mouthed her especially when she was feuding with Daniel's, Oprah and Tyler Perry thinking Monique was overreacting. When Lee Daniel's & Tyler Perry went public and apologized to Monique those same people who went against Monique didn't know where to put there faces at. So good for Monique for sticking to the truth cause it's not always worth playing the game. It's more important to have self respect and self worth. Monique is one hell of a strong woman and she isn't only doing it for herself she is also fighting for those who want to make it in this business especially those who are not a size 8 with a 27inch waist and long blonde hair. It's so much harder for the Monique's and Miss Sidibe's to make it as actresses. So I applaud and respect women like Monique because they got famous with just pure talent. Not because daddy had connections or because she looks slim and beautiful in every gown she puts on. Her talent got her to where she is today. I admire those so much more because they literally worked for it and earned it and most of all deserve it!!!
@@rickyparrilla2426 Girl, you're way too much involved in this, but to each their own. I didn't even know her b4 this movie came out and in the end, it only hurts her career since then. She could've had a career after that movie and all she did may help the next black actress not to make certain decisions, like wanting a piece of the proceeds, that's all in the contract you sign, so in the end it's good for the next black actor in such a position and not make the same mistakes she did, which took all the good of the movie's place through backlash, media gossip and wounded egos!! Thank God Ms. Sinibe did do her part promoting the movie and the roles she played since then, unlike Monique, who kinda killed her career. I'm not saying who's right or wrong, just what the end result turned out to be for the players in this and Perry and the others, who are all on their A Game. I'm white, so I'm more pragmatic, she's black and thought she was more important than the movies message, she probebly thought abt those who will come after her, although I doubt that's the 1st thing that she thought abt, it was all abt her and that's a big no no in the movie business. It's a cutthroat business and if you're no A list actor, you do have to do promotional work, esp Award shows. What was she thinking, she's no Oprah, who was just a producer after it was made and even she was there! I know her reasoning, but that's not good enough, not in this business and certainly not if you're not even that famous outside the US, but she didn't think abt that one either, that's egotistical imo.
Monique stand strong! You will see yourself soar and those who would bear false witness against you will fall from grace and the whole world will see their disgrace. Let God vindicate you. I believe you.
People get upset when a person do not go along with the plan. So be it, you have to have intregrity, moral values, and truth. There are times in life you have to say no and stay with it.
This is how a real woman handles her business and be comfortable in her own skin while doing it. How many of you men and women out there can be as honest and open as Ms. Mo'Nique? Bravo my Sister. Bravo!
Carmen Hinton One you stand in your truth and know your worth nobody can tell you otherwise. When you know better you do better. That’s why people are afraid to speak out thinking if we talk too much things will be stripped away. It’s time for to be like Monique and Kaepernick.
I truly enjoyed this interview and I love Monique the actress Ang Monique the woman. She is truly one of the great one's. I can't believe that's all she got for precious, they ought to be ashamed of themselves.
They only mad because she told the truth the fact that they all reacted and got mad for being exposed as a fake a fraud and a uncle Tom sellout or a controlled puppet proves that she was right and is the realist woman and true comedian
How she articulates the events of her life is sweet and real. I will not watch the Precious movie, as I've seen enough trauma via movies for a lifetime, and want to build in another way, yet, Monique is beautiful. The way she speaks about her family, wow! Beautiful. She has no reason to be "difficult" and it never sounded believable when the cowards who say she is, say this. In all her perfect imperfections, she has integrity. Can't be bought, can't be sold.
Monique is certainly a beautiful, powerful, strong, courageous, Ect black woman...Our prayers are always with her...stay strong Monique... truthfully speaking: Whatever has been covered in the dark for years, God will reveal it. I get what you are saying Monique! I respect you 100%! My take away from this interview is "YOU ARE BREAKING THE CYCLE OF BEING BLACK IN HOLLYWOOD'S GAME PLAYING AT ALL COST EVEN TO YOUR OWN HURT!" GOD HAS YOUR BACK! STAND YOUR GROUND!❤
You're right it definitely has costed her. Monique had every right to say no to promoting precious without being paid to do so but it cost her. She did nothing wrong by saying no because that was her right to make that choice. But, Actors are not paid to promote movies. So by her saying no they viewed her as being uncooperative and being difficult to work with. That's how they view the situation and they have a right to feel that way and to not want to use her on any future projects. So she can't say they are wrong for that.
Man the last 5 mins had me shriving and cryin cus it was so real and pure and it was everything any honest person could ask for...God bless Monique and her family God got something big in stored for yall and you didn't have to kiss no ones a** to get there..Amen
Black women the voice of comfort in old slavery times they put everyone to sleep and generally got us all right(Doctor, Herbalist,Therapist, leader, lawyer...). This includes the slave owning family.
Although this interview is almost 3 yrs old. The fact still remains. Her story is unchanged. She names names. With respect. Otherwise its called gossip. And we all know there is negativity and a lot of untruth behind gossip. Mo'Nique knew the "consequences" of her speaking out back then as she does now. She was prepared. I stand with Mo'Nique. Don't accept crumbs off someone else's table ESPECIALLY when you know you dont NEED to. Black people need to know their worth. Why do you think we're kept under a thumb? Because they know we are amazing. And will be beyond them if they let that thumb up.
25:48 Back in 2018, Mo’Nique stated Taraji P. Henson should have been one of the highest paid actresses on TV. In 2023, Taraji shared her pain from Hollywood’s CONTINUED DISRESPECT of compensation to black actors. It’s inspiring to see brave folks like Mo’Nique speak up for what’s right, even against the powers that be.
I agree with her and understand what she's saying, they expect her to work for free!! She's an academy award winning actress!! It's sad how black people treat each other! Shameful ! Daniel's and the others ( and you know who I'm talking about) are the same old Back Network and it makes them worse than the white man's GAME !!!🤬 The power has gone to their head and they use it to hurt other actors, instead of lifting them up!! STOP IT!!🤯🤯
Thank you Mo'Nigue.... For Speaking Your Truth... You are a real bell ringer...... Awareness is important. You are truly living your truth by telling your story.... Many thanks.
Coming back to this interview adds clarity. Monique's issue was originally with Mr. Lee Daniels. He was upset she didn't mention him at the Oscars. Danny Strong said she didn't receive the offers for the Bulter and Cookie. Lion's gate told Monique her business was with Lee Daniels and she had a 5% back end deal with Precious with residuals netting $15k. Lee called Monique demanding, insinuated she was difficult to work with and said she was blackballed. Monique said she didn't buy into the black balled because the offers and scripts never stopped coming in. The offers never reached $1M and never made sense based on her winning the award. She only mentions Tyler with what she should make after awards season. She only mentions Oprah after Lee called her to tell her Oprah signed on the Bulter and she gave her blessings cause she knew how much the project meant to Lee. Tyler admitted his own difficulty with Monique offered $450k and admitted she didn't have to do international press (contractually) in his recording. Oprah has never addressed it. The Bafta speech by Lee that Monique was mad at them was another factor. Lee had apologized. She told the Oscars they needed to fly her team out to give an Oscar the following year! They declined. This was never about Tyler and Oprah. Their names keeps the story alive tho. I'm glad Katt afforded her the opportunity to join him on tour!
This is the Best interview she has done to explain her side. Other interviewers just don't get it or afraid to admit it. Hollywood! It ain't for everybody.
That’s our problem, we give white people the benefit of the doubt all the time, but when it comes to our own, we can’t wait to pull us down. Slavery still at work, you asleep, you just don’t see it!
I loved her show and watched it every night. It was so positive and fun loving. I enjoy her energy. The Parkers was the shit!! Monique stand you're ground.
Put some respect on this woman's name! Great interview! You can't help but stand with Monique, she is calling Lee Daniels out, he is the issue not Monique. Stand your ground Monique! You will make a difference for black women in Hollywood. Shame on you Lee Daniels!!! You have an issue with Monique for some reason, Hollywood doesn't have the issue, you have the connections that's trying to suppress her but your lies and nonsense will eventually have to come to a end...Nothing last forever, not even your career!
They are mad because she woke up. Realized that living is more important and put a real price tag on her talent. Didn't want to play the game they wanted to play.
Truth: is spilling out all over the world. Even those that promote real truth; are being shaken. When truth calls: listen & respond. Before A giant breaks your world down and leave you empty. Then when personal TRUTH is needed the Most. It will NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE for personal use. Be rich on the inside; more than the outside. Only God can make it POSSIBLE to have both riches in character & money! Its too much to balance and still be completely right.
An Lynn I'm rooting for Monica but Hollywood is evil and there's too much powerful people so Lee Daniels is right you do have to play the game I feel that it's great that she's exposing them but she won't win your end up like Alex Jones she just going to have to work for herself and make her own platform and just forget about other brands to make a bigger than what she is. She looks beautiful
You may think she is ridiculous but that does not take away from her worth, it does not take away from her talent and it does not take away from the fact that she represents many black women in Hollywood that are not getting their dues. This is not a new thing. This goes back to Hattie and Eartha and will affect newer generations to come. This affects you as well. See you are probably not making as much as your white counterpart and don't even realize it. If you were a loyal negro you wouldn't have said a word. Cause you don't have to like her to respect her.
An Lynn Oh i'm sorry I didn't know that THIS is a women's table, I thought this was a public website called RUclips. Also you said "go build something" That was kinda strange because you assuming that I haven't built anything, I already built that's why I can be on RUclips in the morning talking to idiots.

Vegas Mitchell I agree black moguls portray a life style that appears to be irresponsible , the elephant in the room is this why do we have to be held at a greater accountability to other counterparts that are in the same lane there was a show called Life Styles of the Rich and Famous that use to come on and it showed white entertainers living a extravagant life style why is it when it's our turn we have to be on a leech with everything it's a double edge sword . Blacks don't get the same as there white counterparts .

I respect Mo'Nique for standing her ground. In Hollywood, it's not uncommon for some actors or directors to quit a movie for whatever reason and still get paid for it.
I applaud her for telling her side of the story. IMO the best way to confront accusations, false statements, suspicious agendas etc is to have a conversation with all parties involved. The back and forth is not going to solve the problem. JS
I love Mo and what she stands for. I applied for a job and they tried to low ball me. My resume speaks volumes and I just had a company recognize it. Other wanted to settle because I hit a low point. I told them i struggled to hard and put too much time to work for pennies.
Now she gotta flip it to A blessing. Surely the interviewers and big wigs want drama from black folks especially. Being dramatic actress on film or stage we tend to be triple threats and over what's necessary to be recognized as talent. People grow bored if in real life,if a lot aint happening their too. This is a sad way to support a person demanding they lose privacy.

Carretta Roberts she is fake as fuck bro, everything about her is fake and off-putting. She is arrogant, conceited and an entitled narcissist. Perfect example is the obesity thing, she couldn't even admit that she shamed women for being "slim" (healthy) and then turned around and SLIMMED down because her husband was concerned about her HEALTH; why? Because that would make her a hypocrite which she IS. Idk if she was actually blackballed (because everything out of her mouth is a lie), but if she did for the reasons they claimed? I completely agree, she should be blackballed Btw her account of her demands is a proven lie, she is outright lying and trying to spin the story to exonerate her rediculous attitude.
Girl always remember that with GOD before us ....it really doesn't matter who or what is against us. When GOD is for us who can stand against us. GOD GOT IT !!!

THANSEER Abbas yeah that was sick. Mo’Nique is more a Bette Davis, Jessica Lange style that’s so intense you feel like you’re in the film. Meryl is good with replicating. But Weinstein I guess kept Meryl working long past an actress’s prime age in Hollywood. Oprah is getting roles now and she was pretty good in the Butler but she hasn’t brought it since Color Purple, Women Of Brewster Place. I’m not a fan of Oprah’s especially after she did Mo wrong.
KBFT...Which black women? Actresses & comediennes, nurses, teachers, lawyers & attorneys, blue collar workers, retail & food service workers, stay at home moms, those in "inter-racial" pairings, the homeless, or regular, non-descript, general ladies just going about their business of making an honest living--without the benefit of a public platform? She's not the sole-nor most important mouthpiece, but rather one, serving one perspective. This is the mistake of thinking she speaks solely for "black women". How about as one voice on behalf of women, in general?
K Brown she’s referring to black women in the entertainment industry and the inequality that exists for women of colour. She is paving the way for future actresses (black and white) to push for pay equality.
She’s not the first, nor is going to be the last when it comes to speaking about inequality. Hollywood isn’t decent & she should speak about her experience

Bravo Mo'Nique , people are jealous when they can not control you...
Monique stand strong!
You will see yourself soar and those who would bear false witness against you will fall from grace and the whole world will see their disgrace.
Let God vindicate you.
I believe you.
Exactly. They hate a self confident woman .
Fact of life!!
Indeed.
People get upset when a person do not go along with the plan. So be it, you have to have intregrity, moral values, and truth. There are times in life you have to say no and stay with it.
We know what game they’re talking about. God got u Monique.

Me too
Me too this woman is unbelievable
They only mad because she told the truth the fact that they all reacted and got mad for being exposed as a fake a fraud and a uncle Tom sellout or a controlled puppet proves that she was right and is the realist woman and true comedian
All money ain't good money that is facts reality and honesty your Integrity and your dignity as a woman is more valuable and more important than money
No matter how big or small. Because nothing is too hard for God.. AMEN!! 🙏 🙏 ❤🎉😅😊😂😮
I’m glad someone gave her more than a 10 min platform to speak on!!! My heart goes out to her and I hope people give her the respect she deserves.
That was one of the best interviews I've seen allowing Mo'Nique to tell her side of the story with no interruptions no judgement no criticism
She should have been paid more than 50k for Precious. She was great in that movie!
i agree. i thought actors/actresses get an initial pay and then make more based on the success of the movie. it makes the most sense. but i guess not
Exactly
Monique is so talented. I wouldn't have done it. That is no money for a woman of her talent. I saw her at queens of comedy show in Houston, Texas

She's right 100%
I get what you are saying Monique!
She was asked to take a pay cut to do the movie and she would be taken care of.
@@cbeyond1957 see my comment. Then afterwards didn't take of her and expected more without taking care of which would have covered that promotion

I felt this
25:48 Back in 2018, Mo’Nique stated Taraji P.
Pay. The woman now
EXACTLY

She is a very intelligent black woman love her

I agree with her and understand what she's saying, they expect her to work for free!! She's an academy award winning actress!! It's sad how black people treat each other! Shameful !
Daniel's and the others ( and you know who I'm talking about) are the same old Back Network and it makes them worse than the white man's GAME !!!🤬 The power has gone to their head and they use it to hurt other actors, instead of lifting them up!! STOP IT!!🤯🤯
Yeah, but because of the demons within & external - she’s messing up. She going against herself, because she’s not see what she needs to see.

Not even white ladies being Mary Poppins for free lol.

An Lynn def not she’s ridiculous
You may think she is ridiculous but that does not take away from her worth, it does not take away from her talent and it does not take away from the fact that she represents many black women in Hollywood that are not getting their dues. This is not a new thing. This goes back to Hattie and Eartha and will affect newer generations to come. This affects you as well. See you are probably not making as much as your white counterpart and don't even realize it. If you were a loyal negro you wouldn't have said a word. Cause you don't have to like her to respect her.
Common Sense why are sitting at the women's table, talking it up like the rest of us? Put my cup of tea down and please go build something!

I completely agree, she should be blackballed
Btw her account of her demands is a proven lie, she is outright lying and trying to spin the story to exonerate her rediculous attitude.

What black people don't realize is that Monique is kicking the door down for black woman unlike ever before .
Monique you are so amazing and I admire your integrity. Always remember and keep in mind that you can say whatever you want to say and be aware of how you say it. God bless you and your family. Roland thanks for this interview.
I love Mo For standing up like a Strong Black African Woman against the odds. She didn't sellout. Speak Sister. I am a witness to being blackballed. Trust me people black balling does happen; That does not make her an angry black woman. GOD got Mo and her Family. What GOD has For Mo is for Mo. She just might out shine every last one of them. To GOD be the Glory. Shine Sister because in doing so your testimony is not only teaching us women but our young ladies how to stand-up, speak elegantly and be factual. Well Done My Lady. GOD is using you Warrior. In Jesus Name. Amen
