Who's here after the fact that she was correct about the discrimination against black woman in the Hollywood actors industry and she gave LENARD A HISTORY LESSON THANK YOU MONIQUE
🤚🏾! It’s 2024 and all I want to say is, “I’m so sorry Monique 😢😢❤.”Charlemagne was very arrogant and contradictory throughout this interview. He was so arrogant he wasn’t listening at all. Basically he said, “Sure you are a legend, but you don’t deserve to get paid as a legend should.”
Monique never changed her story, she was so consistent and never gave up. Good on her. People didn’t listen to her then, but she never gave up, what a strong 💪 woman .
I’m here after seeing and hearing Taraji cry in the interview. She’s crying about being underpaid and working hard within her career. Now all of sudden people are supporting her. But when Monique first came out about discrimination, color bias and age bias… everyone shunned Monique. Now everyone saying that she was right all along.
It’s because Tariji is portrayed as not tough and more feminine, they supported her more. Monique is a strong black woman and when strong black woman speak out they are mislabeled as angry black woman. You have to cry and be feminine to be heard????! Crazy world we live in
True. But also I believe that is truly their personalities, too. One is not better than the other. But one thing for sure eventually kryptonite will leave, and that's okay. @@NolaMarieSings01

I come back to this interview all the time because Monique’s strength is inspiring. You have to know what your worth or the world will hand you anything!
I have to give Monique credit for talking to them like she did because they were really talking to her stupid. If it's all our struggle it's Monique's not just her applying it to her own situation like LENARD said. Why would you not put some worth on yourself instead of saying you arent worth it and someone else is when you know your resume you feel you're as worthy as the other person. I would have just told them to kiss my AZZ , especially "LENARD." He was acting like he had to pay her salary ☹️
I love Sidney's and Monique's professionalism and integrity during this interview. Shame on you, Leonard! Netflix was bogus! Idk if they have apologized to Monique, but it's overdue! Monique's resume speaks volumes, period! She IS a Legend❤
Monique said the whites and Latinos stood up for her and shut their shows down, but when it comes to my people, “I get donkey of the day”! I felt that, we gotta do better!!!
As a Latino we love Monique, so talented and beautiful. The things is in the game u have to sign that contract sell your soul . Then u will get Netflix, HBO, showtime etc . Love u Monique for not selling your soul. Start your own production company baby . I love what Monique told charlame that he will sell his sister to the white Master.
Charlamagne definitely seems like one of those types that will realize that they're wrong mid-argument, but continue to argue their side because they can't admit defeat. Do not be that person.
derek anderson 🚫🤦🏽♂️👎🏽😡🤦🏽♂️ bro this woman is just mad cuz she didn’t get payed by Netflix so she’s going all out calling them racist and anti woman I mean nowadays if your black and someone tell you No!!! You just call them racist!!! You don’t need no facts I means this shit is out of control instead of helping the community is dividing the community because you can called out racism so much until it looses its meaning!!! And you dumb people will follow a chicken if it calls racism!!! SMH 🤦🏽♂️👎🏽🚫
derek anderson you took the words right out of my mouth! I have experienced the same treatment knowing my intentions are good and I know my worth. So I canceled my Netflix a month ago now and I don't miss it at all. I canceled because this is complete gender bias and racial bias . No black woman has ever been offered a 7 figure deal by Netflix . Ever... this woman been talking about this for 10 yrs now. She is most decorated 57 awards more than any other comedian. She should not have to keep being quiet. 500,000 compared to 11 million. Now look at those two numbers and tell me it doesn't LOOK unfair?
Kool Red she never said Hollywood didn't like her dummy. Listen. This is about the whole picture not a piece of the picture. Black women are not Given the same value.and that is deliberate
She cherry-picks the information she conveys just like everyone else, but when someone else decides they don't want to name names it's an issue I guess.
@@jeffcaldwell30 well it is an issue when you bringing up something somebody said about me but refuse to say who said it ,so yes that's a big problem, I feel like this don't tell me what somebody said if you not dropping names because then it's pointless and you can keep that information to yourself , that part of the conversation is over before it starts , I don't need or want to hear it so let's move on, that was Monique's whole point and I don't blame her .......if we're not dealing with Names and Facts were not discussing it, like she said....keep that he said she said shit on the playground .....
Essence Rodriguez she actually said names as far as I heard. Mo’nique don’t give all the truth either. She wants to be right so bad that she’s burning up that seat she was sitting in because of Charlemagne. I agreed with him. From a numbers standpoint justify why you should get what the “legends” are getting? The word legend is as about as weak as having a Oscar nowadays because it doesn’t sell tickets. I agree with her that their is a financial disparity with women of color. No one disputes that, but we’re talking about Mo’nique and not the color of her skin. She’s trying to make a racial case for why she was offered so little and not a bankability case.
After watching this video I have even more respect for the beautiful Queen "Monique'. She led the interview with grace, knowledge and truth. Her talent and legacy are unmatched, and her resume and body of work should speak for itself.
It was just announced this past week that Eddie Murphy is in talks with Netflix to do a comedy special for around 70 million. I wonder what charla has to say about that since he hasn’t done stand up since the 80s...
That people are still asking Eddie about doing it 30 years later. Who the hell was asking Monique? People actively WANT Eddie to come back. Just because Monique has the title "legend" doesn't mean people want to see her as much as others. Before this controversy, who the hell here honestly was like, "You know what would be CRAZY!? If Monique got on stage again! OMG EVERYONE would watch that!" The answer is nobody.
Nate River not the point I’m making lol. In this interview, that I’m not even sure you watched or else you wouldn’t have commented, Charla said “this is a what have you done for me LATELY business. What has Eddie done for us lately? I love Eddie and you better believe I’m watching this special. I just want people to understand that Moniques stance is valid and thousands of black women face the same discrimination daily. This is hypocrisy. That’s all.
I'm confused as to how some of these people in the comments were so confused as to what Monique was saying 5 yrs ago, now all of a sudden they comprehend it so well. 😄
Charmalayne, I respect all brothers in the community, but this brother is whack for attempting to put down one of our beautiful sisters, I admire her approach and the fact that she was respectful in airing the facts, charmalayne, is a clown he should of held his tongue and stepped down, however his pride led him to diiresoect his own. Baby Monique we love you baby keep pushing come to Toronto if able you'll sell out
Watch Katt Williams' shay shay interview,. Everything CTG said about the numbers is what Katt said and broke down. Monique and her husband go their feelings in it.
Yes, sir, it is scary. Which means she has put her foot down and what happens to her is real. People get tired of those who say shit and hide their hands. Ty & Op. D be more respectful of a strong sister. Need her to know something, say it to her. I find this ironic with comedians- true shit said on the stage at work, does hurt.
Well spoken Monique! Masterfully kept her emotions at bay and came to clear her name. I support her and every black female comedian who is being silenced and given crumbs in comparison to their peers. Bravo Monique!❤
I love how Monique talks like she don’t have to yell in conversation she speaks calmly even when someone opposes her statements or opinions or even facts.
I don't work in entertainment, thank God I didn't go that route, but I do work for 33 years. Everytime you speak up for yourself in the workforce, you are labeled "difficult" now all that stuff Mo'Nique said, is coming to the light!!! I commend you Mo'Nique for ALWAYS speaking up for yourself!

I always come back to this interview. I always stood by her and supported her. Even with my friends and family telling me I sound stupid. She wasn’t wrong and now we’ve come full circle with the whole Taraji situation in the color purple.
I'm in the same situation with my lady friend and she still don't understand💡 She is confused by the outburst Monique made on stage and think Steve was trying to help her..... Who is rewatching the interview after the news broke out that she’s suing Netflix? 🙋🏾♀️ Edited: who is here after the DL Hughley incident? 🤦🏾♀ Edit again 😂: who is here after Taraji discusses the pay disparities of Black actresses/actors?
TheChemi She may very well lose, but as part of the lawsuit they’ve got to deal with depositions and discovery and that will be more telling than anything. On the heels of what Byron Allen is doing with Comcast right now, it’s all important. It might not go their way, but the discussion about pay parity and access to markets is important.
Um I beg to differ. They were looking for comparable pay to comics doing comedy specials. When has Monique sold out a solo comedy special? When has Monique headlined a comedy movie? Her defense were her roles that were part of ensemble casts in dramatic roles. Not the same.

I love how she looks him straight in the face ! And took off her glasses ! This is a master class for interviewing and for those who are being interviewed! She’s amazing
She's pulling the race and gender card against a woman and black guys.. Don't compare yourself to others if you aren't prepared to accept they're better. It's not like you can't become better than them later.
This is so hard to watch. Why would they choose to attack her and make her defend her right to what she deserves? Why her of all people? She is amazing.
They were trying to help her see both sides. Monique sold out clubs the other comedians sold out arenas. She could have negotiated outside of the money she would have earned. They don’t want to negotiate money, fine then negotiate outside of that. When Coachella lowballed Beyoncé, her team negotiated for her to own rights to the videos of the performance and she sold it to Netflix for 60 million dollars. The fact that monique had stand ups on Netflix that she wasn’t getting paid from because she didn’t own the rights is ridiculous
All that Leonard had to do is apologize for calling Mo’Nique the donkey of the day but his pride would not let him. As liberal as the entertainment industry is, there is a tremendous amount of inequality when it comes to salaries. And unfortunately Black women get paid the least. I admire Mo’Nique for standing up for herself. Leonard is gonna eat his words one day.
I had to come back to this and this should be televised, Black women everywhere know for a fact, we always have to prove our worth even amongst our own❤

Mo'Nique's husband nailed it when he said, "If it is an individual problem, when it comes to Black female comedians, it's: 'What have you done lately? And, when it comes to white female comedians, it's...'" And, Mo'Nique is right that when it comes to people who look like us that we are our worst persecutor when it comes to defending our own in race-biased claims. That's because we have been racially socialized to believe that we will never be as good as, or better than, our white counterpart, and that, therefore, are not worthy of equal pay. Mo'Nique is most definitely right. Bottom line, all of us are not consciously aware, and this is only one of the unconscious manifestations of believing that those among us who are considered top talent by masses are still not worthy of competitive pay with their white counterpart - and that's why some believe that the Black talent must make her perspective, "make sense." Wake up, Leonard, or Lenard.

Watching this 2 years later. Still relevant. Professor Monique took them to school. Black Woman have always fought for everyone but no one fights for her. Example we meet each other a grim one another as if we hate or dislike the look of each other but we're on our best behavior with strangers of another race...we must treat each other much better as brothers and sisters. It's work but we as our people can over come our attitudes towards each other we must do better to be better....
What Lenard is doing is dismissing Mo'Nique's history, her foundation as he was instructed to do. If you notice in the interview, everything she pulls up receipts back by a justifiable point, he ignores it and keeps going back to "today's numbers" against Amy Schumer, etc... . He keeps saying she is weaponizing black female colorism. Just like Mo'Nique and her husband said, people say what they do because they are scared not to and will face consequences if they go against the "bosses narrative". Lenard, just like Angela Yee, is bought and paid for. He is given instructions on how to speak, what to say, how to act by his handlers. As instructed he is to tear down, destroy and divide the afro-indigenous community. Guaranteed if he goes against his handlers, as quick as you put your hand up, his career is done. I applaud, have always stood by, Mo'Nique. Completely agree with everything she has said. She stood in fire and took the beatings so Taraji and 'em could run with the same narrative now.
The sheep on this post, my God. They offered her 500,000 for 2 years. And she’s wasn’t asking for Dave or Chris money, but 500,000 tho? They could hv at least offered 1 or 2 mil. They out here cutting 50 mil checks....Man stand up for yourself Monique!!! I️m sending my positive energy your way. Know your worth!
Charlie Thompson ok. So if it’s only about being salable, why did they offered Wanda Sykes only 250k? And white people LOVE Wanda Sykes. It’s more to be said than it it just being salable. Those are really disrespectful numbers to ppl who already have a certain lifestyle to maintain. And I understand Monique not being salable anymore but let’s dig in more to that. Why all of a sudden she’s hard to work with after all the projects she’s had. Now after being blackballed, she emerges to speak on her plight and everybody says she difficult. Idk. Her story just resonates with me on a deeper level. I’m a black woman who’s had a corporate job, and I had to work my butt off but you want to know who was promoted and got the best raises and who didn’t even perform their job as half as great as I did? Yep you guessed it, my fellow white women colleagues. & I already know the men are paid a lot better. So at the end of the day, I feel her struggle. We live in this shitty system also even if the pay I received is a lot less than 500k.
Oz yes we have been programmed. Programmed to accept the things that we know in our heart will not suffice. We work hard and still don’t get compensated for the jobs we perform at a high level. I agree the boycott may be a littler reach after you have explained the marketing side of it, but she still has a right to feel played, and I feel played for her. So she taking a stand and I’m standing with her. I don’t even work at my job anymore for the same reason. I’m figuring out this self employment situation on my own because I know as long as I️m on somebody’s else’s clock, they are going to give me what they feel I am worth. And let’s be honest, my worth to them sure isn’t a lot. I won’t take it. I know the struggle
According to Google Monique's current net worth is an estimated $13,000,000.00 now that doesn’t seem like a lot compared to say Oprah or Jay Z but it’s still way more than 99% of America and you don’t make that kind of money being a fool. I must admit that like many others I had my doubts at first but she knows how to negotiate and she refuses to let anyone take advantage of her talent, so we can’t knock this sister down for standing up for what’s obvious. The truth is most Americans aren’t used to a black woman having a bold voice to take on the big companies like Netflix. I have to respect her and give her that much.
She isn’t entitled to anyone else’s money. No one is. If you’re offering your services or talents to someone and they low ball you, you either negotiate (which her husband admitted they didn’t give Netflix a counteroffer) or you move on. She’s done more campaigning for this Netflix boycott than she did for Precious. I’m a freelance writer. I get great offers and shitty offers. What she’s doing isn’t helping her bag. Just providing Lee Daniel’s point.
Unlike Oprah and Jay Z who have real talent this ogre needs to learn her place which is the bottom of my shoe because of how stupid she sounds. She should learn to just stick to comedy because some of the things she's saying isn't making anyone smile. I'm so glad she got destroyed in this interview, you could really tell the saltiness in her behavior. Now that was the real joke.
I love how she kept taking her glasses off whenever she knew she was about to read them for filth!!!! Very well-spoken and spoke nothing but her truth!

This was 46 mins of Monique saying put some respect on my name.
Respeck* birdman style

Coops Consessions ....🙏🏻🙏🏻 !!
Mo’Nique just sayin’ check yo’Self before you Wreck yo Self.Bruh.
Yes. And she totally got her point across.
Monique never changed her story, she was so consistent and never gave up. Good on her. People didn’t listen to her then, but she never gave up, what a strong 💪 woman .
Everybody know Monique Love her ❤❤❤
I’m here after seeing and hearing Taraji cry in the interview. She’s crying about being underpaid and working hard within her career. Now all of sudden people are supporting her. But when Monique first came out about discrimination, color bias and age bias… everyone shunned Monique. Now everyone saying that she was right all along.
💯 and none of them stood with her, at least publicly.... Part of me wants to say, don't cry now
That part
It’s because Tariji is portrayed as not tough and more feminine, they supported her more. Monique is a strong black woman and when strong black woman speak out they are mislabeled as angry black woman. You have to cry and be feminine to be heard????! Crazy world we live in
True. But also I believe that is truly their personalities, too. One is not better than the other. But one thing for sure eventually kryptonite will leave, and that's okay. @@NolaMarieSings01
Like she said because she's big, black and fat.
It's so bizzare to me how everyone forgets that Monique is an Oscar winning actress.
So?
She's not Chris Rock or Dave Chappelle. Her comedy is wack.
It's bizarre to me how you think an oscar makes you some type of messiah
I'm Player One y’all to us a white was gone save us so stfu pale faced sun dodger
So anybody that wins an oscar deserves 20 million for a comedy special on netflix????
I dont people forget, it's just irrelevant .

I come back to this interview all the time because Monique’s strength is inspiring. You have to know what your worth or the world will hand you anything!
I actually was watching all the times CTG was checked. Monique spoke well and made him look dumb. Monique is funny and they tried to play her.
@@HappyQueen1231 same I been watching everybody check his dumb ass
She has the last laugh right now because she did her first Netflix comedy special and her closing remarks were phenomenal.
not worth $13 million or even $ 1 million
I have to give Monique credit for talking to them like she did because they were really talking to her stupid. If it's all our struggle it's Monique's not just her applying it to her own situation like LENARD said.
Why would you not put some worth on yourself instead of saying you arent worth it and someone else is when you know your resume you feel you're as worthy as the other person. I would have just told them to kiss my AZZ , especially "LENARD." He was acting like he had to pay her salary ☹️
Mo’nique was talking to Charlamagne like the calm a mother has before she gives her kid a whooping
Obey Amma yeah I still think it’s disrespectful. Don’t talk to me like you’re my mom 🤷🏾♀️
That's a 👍 good one Lmaooo!!!

Obey Amma she schooled him but with so much class. I love her.
Yessssss
Numbers don't lie!
As a hispanic Latina woman I got to say we have so much respect for Monique! she has so much talent. Monique is a living legend!💐💐💐
Absolutely!!
Charlamagne definitely seems like one of those types that will realize that they're wrong mid-argument, but continue to argue their side because they can't admit defeat. Do not be that person.

Then she should go form her own company where she doesn't have too. Not stay crying about how Hollywood doesnt like her.
derek anderson 🚫🤦🏽♂️👎🏽😡🤦🏽♂️ bro this woman is just mad cuz she didn’t get payed by Netflix so she’s going all out calling them racist and anti woman I mean nowadays if your black and someone tell you No!!!

ANGELA LEE: Some things were personally told to me...MO: Say there names if not keep it on the playground🤭 I felt every bit of that comment 💯
That line is still funny!

It was just announced this past week that Eddie Murphy is in talks with Netflix to do a comedy special for around 70 million. I wonder what charla has to say about that since he hasn’t done stand up since the 80s...
Or a movie in 9 yrs
U hit that on the nail !!!! BOOM 💥
That’s all.
Nate River and just because YOU don’t want to see a special from Monique doesn’t mean that there aren’t tons of people who would.
I'm confused as to how some of these people in the comments were so confused as to what Monique was saying 5 yrs ago, now all of a sudden they comprehend it so well. 😄
Exactly 😂😂😂
Because they are followers most didn’t even listen or care to they hopped on the bandwagon with whatever else someone else was saying

Baby Monique we love you baby keep pushing come to Toronto if able you'll sell out
Watch Katt Williams' shay shay interview,. Everything CTG said about the numbers is what Katt said and broke down. Monique and her husband go their feelings in it.
She dislikes tiny women. Why? I see she's not as wide as she was. Maybe she'll lay off the thin.
@@namenotfound8747but there was clearly something behind what Mo’nique said because Netflix settled

Alana Green. it was really only Charlamagne. He's the only person out of the three that gives people donkey of the day to people.

Well, we all know that Char has done nothing for his community
Mo'Nique's husband nailed it when he said, "If it is an individual problem, when it comes to Black female comedians, it's: 'What have you done lately? And, when it comes to white female comedians, it's...'"
And, Mo'Nique is right that when it comes to people who look like us that we are our worst persecutor when it comes to defending our own in race-biased claims.

B4 I was thinking she was just tripping but now I see she came with them receipts I see her as more than just monique now she is a well spoken intelligent black woman who just knows her worth and wants it it's due time and she tierd because realistically speaking if we as black men are seen as the lowest on the totem pole just imagine how white America sees our women even lower than us smh her husband stood tall and protected her from Leonard his own brother I'm telling you kane and able had to be black

The people of the BC are ignorant...only care about $ and clout!!! They're def with the program
@@usernamecle3439 You can’t lump everyone in the same category. BW in the corporate world deal with similar issues and have gone on to start their own Businesses. BW are the most entrepreneurial and the most educated. Ignorant refers to being uneducated. Perhaps you should learn how to read a dictionary because the ignorant one seems to be you.

Thanks
Lenard lol🤣....I like that Monique and her husband Sydney are a great team.
Yes, they are.
She's a wife and mother now. Her priority is elsewhere and that's okay. Focus on the family!
he fucked up her career...cause he didn't have one. she went from makin movies to making you tube videos
Um I beg to differ. They were looking for comparable pay to comics doing comedy specials. When has Monique sold out a solo comedy special? When has Monique headlined a comedy movie? Her defense were her roles that were part of ensemble casts in dramatic roles. Not the same.
Y'all niggas are the gullible ones she and her husband are pandoring to.
Who's here after Club Shay!?! I'm watching all Mo'Nique interviews now!
Breakfast Club Halls of Fame
1. Birdman: "Put respek on my name"

I love how this man speaks for his wife but never overspeaks her.

I just really want her to STOP calling him Daddy.
"Keep it on the playground" she just dropped the best quote of 2018 😂💯
dawud hunt she way to real for the fakes lol
Thank you Monique for having INTEGRITY and not buying into Hollywood. Stay true to yourself, I know that its hard and costing you a lot of money, but trust me when I say.... We stand by you...

Idc monique deserves everything she fighting for she is not wrong some of yall just dont wanna see the truth
Miss Mo'Nique scolding young Lenard for not doing his homework. She got the librarian glasses and the haircut for it too.
I came back to watch this. It’s crazy how Cthagod try to make the point of ,”what have u done for the ppl lately?” Guess what. Netflix has went back and rebooted the Parker’s, girlfriends, moesha. She spoke up when a lot of ppl were scared.
Who the hell watch the Parkers?

I'm happy they did that, hopefully they see that she is loved. She has a long ass resume for years.
You have to know your self-worth and put a $value on it. Thank you Ms Monique for speaking up and out about the inequality of black females in ALL industries!! We may not get there in the next 10 years, but Sistahs we will RISE. God told me so🙏🏽
WoW she just empowered me and still entertained me and made me laugh at the way she READ Angela AND Charlemagne!!!! I wanna speak like Monique my next disagreement!!! That'll teach them!
Lonisha Oliver 😂😂😂
We are told to speak calmly not loud use a smile and put them in check kindly.... we disrespect ourselves but will respect others that don't look like we do! Example we meet each other a grim one another as if we hate or dislike the look of each other but we're on our best behavior with strangers of another race...we must treat each other much better as brothers and sisters. It's work but we as our people can over come our attitudes towards each other we must do better to be better....
Yes! I'm just seeing this interview for the first time today. Monique checked them the same way Eartha Kitt checked Lady Bird.
Monique was right about Oprah....Oprah is a big ole Mamie...people need to understand she has a profession and she fight for it...every industry ...
It was Monique facing and looking Lanard dead in his face for me 😭😭😭
LOL she wanted to whoop his ass and by God I know she would accomplish that 😂🤣

Called that man by his Guh ment name 😂😂😂😂
Brother Leonard
😂. Probably made him nervous AF
Yo I’m cryinggg, everytime she say “Lenarrrd” like that 🤣🤣🤣

The sheep on this post, my God. They offered her 500,000 for 2 years. And she’s wasn’t asking for Dave or Chris money, but 500,000 tho? They could hv at least offered 1 or 2 mil. They out here cutting 50 mil checks....Man stand up for yourself Monique!!! I️m sending my positive energy your way. Know your worth!
They didn't even make a counter offer.
Darude Gif Storm call it wat u want.
Darude Gif Storm sure
I like the relationship with her husband...there's structure, respect and love
He just jealous that she is making more money than him and wanting more. She deserves more.
So she was supposed to lose on two million just to be on netflix...wow I see people will settle for anything
She doesn’t know to negotiate shit she pulls the race card on a company that gives blacks shows more than any entertainment company other than BET
Vanessa The Saint if I can make half a million on my own in a year... I’m not about to not work for two years for 2million. It’s not equal.
