Usually, I find FFC designs more conceptually interesting than particularly inspiring, but the ~900 is a pedal that I freely recommend to those burnt out on common circuits.A simple interface, with a broad range, well suited for live, vs. studio pedal boards. It's a keeper, where even if it's not on your current roster, you will want to come back to it someday; this and the Accountant comp are their two classics, - however much attention other offerings may receive.
Bless Guillaume for continuing to use thru-hole components, for the most part. That's getting rarer and rarer these days. Given the phenomenally wide range of sounds and "characters" it can get, I can see this kicking a bunch of pedals off the board. I won't swear to it, given that I'm listening through cheap speakers on my monitor, but it does seem capable of nailing some germanium-like tones and squish. Nicely done!
@@denniskrigger it's not so much about the sound as the ease of repair if anything needs to be replaced. Even I can replace through-hole components if they every fail, but tiny surface-mount parts are very difficult for most people to work on.
@@sounds_Angly oh come on. When in the world have you had a resistor go bad in a pedal? Even the caps are all so low voltage that they don't fail. That's a silly argument for wanting something that's just an increase in labor costs.
A few years ago, Guillaume Fairfield introduced me to the friend of his that does the legending, all by hand, using metal punches (that's why the letters don't line up perfectly). I would imagine his wrist hurts at the end of a work day. It's an interesting and distinctive look and "brand". Probably helps with resale value, because those pedals would look exactly the same after a world tour and rough treatment as they do in the glass showcase. The legending doesn't wear off, either. But I'm curious: How many sets of metal punches has the guy gone through since Fairfield started in business?
Great fuzz, FC is one of my fave makers for excellent sounding no nonsense pedals that are all about the tone, even when they go for something a little unconventional.
Ive watched Andy's videos where he discusses picking with his thumb. But I still can't figure out if it's callous, or part of the nail. Because he hits very specific strings and the attack is very crisp. If I were plucking a string with the edge of my thumb it would sound more muted and dead...not as much attack.
It's constantly varying between nail and thumb. If I want to accentuate, I will use the nail otherwise strumming is more comfortable with thumb flesh!!
@@AndyDemos well I have to hand it to you...while many of our hero's have played without.a pick, you certainly have the most pick-like sound. Thanks for responding personally. It's even more impressive hearing that you alternate.
So excellent, as always-both FC and Andy. P. S. If/when the official Andy Martin Tone Sneakers are launched, for precision hands-free knob-tweaking, I’m all in.
I’m guessing that the topology isn’t all that different from a Big Muff, but the controls are awesome. Plus it seems to clean up with pick attack/guitar volume at least some of the time.
Fairfield Circuitry is taking over my pedalboard, love their work.
Love the longer-ish intro tunes .we like it. Fairfield is doing it right .

How did I miss this earlier!? Andy is a master and Fairfield is a great company!
Yeah, this has "the sound". All those late 60's-early 70's ones. It's like that Tele was made for that pedal. Excellent demo, Andy.
Isn’t that the J mas tele ?? It was a phenomenal demo. So good I could cruise it on the beach for driving tunes.
Andy and Tom Bukovec. That would be a dope jam session.
Whoa... sounding Epic on that Intro Andy!!! Stay Groovy Bruddah!!!!!
Thank you!!
This being boosted by the Barbershop is a GREAT sound. Y’all should try it !!
That bass was so ample. Fairfield is the shit! I F'in love those guys.
Fuzz that's falling off the bone. Fantastic! Nice Canadians make mean pedals.
Hello, Andy. I enjoy your demos. Thank you. That's it.
Thanks so much! 👊

Hey Mark! Yeah it's got a little like a Ge squish but has that JFET crispness if you know what I mean.
How do smd sound different than through hole?

@@sounds_Angly oh, that's true. Mods are much more easy on through hole too

Great stuff. Nice thick buzz…and with the eq, wow
My best fuzz so far. Many gain stages, many options.
‘Bout Nine Hunnert! Savage intro, man. That Mascis Tele…
Thanks!! Yeah the zing of those pickups really works great with fuzz💥
Came for the demo. Stayed for the tunes.
That bass is killer.
If you already have a barbershop and an unpleasant surprise, would this offer up any sounds that those two couldn’t achieve alone or combined?
When the Long Life comes in at 01:04 🤯🔥
Thank you 😊
TIL that @AndyDemos has Long Life #0000 🤯
A very warm sound! ✨🔥✨
Great fuzz, FC is one of my fave makers for excellent sounding no nonsense pedals that are all about the tone, even when they go for something a little unconventional.
That sounds great! I wasn’t in the market for a fuzz but I might be now. Great demo as always, Andy!
take a look at the amp...its the amp
@@johniresearchist7263 Killer sounding amp as well.
Dude i love the blueberry silver tele
Fairfield is producing some seriously fair pedals (:
Some of my all time favorite *WEEZER* songs will definitely sound a lot better with that Fuzz.
Really enjoyed the bass tone on that one!! Great job as always
Jesus, Andy is great! Seriously, I can picture hearing this at The Fillmore circa 1969.
I just acquired a Roadstar bass yesterday and I'm loving it! Nice to see it being used here
Roadstars and Blazers (this one) are some of my favorite basses ever, period. Enjoy!
Good sounding fuzz, but that Tele sounds killer!
Your playing was so tight dude, seriously so cool.
Made I Quebec! I hear there's good fishin' in Quebec! 🎣
Torns peaker.
I truly, TRULY thought I was done buying fuzz pedals... I was wrong.
👍👍👍👍👍 for thegood pedal and andy

Did I just find the perfect fuzz for me?
Is that the J Maaic's pedal? Lovin' that tone! 🤙
OMG! And '81 Ibanez Blazer Bass!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a video where Andy describes his right hand technique?
There sure is:

I'm going to end up buying everything from this brand, I know it. Have the Four Eyes already, guess it's going to have a younger brother soon...
So excellent, as always-both FC and Andy.
P. S. If/when the official Andy Martin Tone Sneakers are launched, for precision hands-free knob-tweaking, I’m all in.
A nod to the 900lb. violin, I’m assuming?
that's a nice sounding fuzz

Winner winer chicken dinner! Wow
Looks like I might have to trade in my Unpleasant Surprise...
I need more F UZZ in my sound.
Glad it’s not about 900 $ whew
About 900? No. Its power is way above 900.
About 900 replicates the sound of an If 6 was 9 fuzz into a Divided by 13 amp.
dang it. it's not bad is it? agh. LOL
damn, andy fuckin rips man...
