DDO doesn't really have an overarching story. Groups of quests from the same quest pack / area usually share a story, and there's usually an attempt to connect content made over the course of a few years, some stuff is just meant to stand on it's own though.
Love your content man, keep it up ❤! Thanks to you me and my girlfriend started playing LOTRO over a month ago and we are absolutely addicted. We tried DDO as well and while i liked it, we were somewhat offput by the high complexity. It was fun, but the new player experience feels rough and you just have to spend way too much time reading through stuff online as a new player. I would be down to try it out again some time, but i simply cant manage playing 2 games as massive as these at the same time, so for now - LOTRO it is 😅
@@matijajuric5479 I personally couldnt care less about the graphics if the visual fidelity is good for the purposes of the game. Which it is for both these games. If what you were saying was true then minecraft would have no players for example. But alas its one of the most popular games of modern times. Gameplay is the most important thing imo, and i imagine a lot of people feel this way.
@a.aldebaran2993 same reason i havent played Minecraft..graphics.. but i do play heroes of might and magic.. or isometric rpgs.. its HOW you USE the bad graphics.. if i have to live in a world of squares, instead of looking at it from above my brain wont allow it . Its like a bad EDM party . Lot of dumbf**ks love it, doesnt make it good to the higher IQ people that can manage nuance... Btw lots of games with good 'gameplay'.. wtf does that have to do with ME hating the look of the world i inhabit... Guild wars 2 is like an oil painting, but i still managed to play it far less than wow... Cartoon graphics=longevity... Cartoon/caricature graphics=/= bad graphics... Minecraft/lotro= bad graphics
If you'd like a challenging EQ inspired mmo, check out Pantheon. It's not story based but it has challenging combat and progression. Great music and pretty good graphics
I noted you mentioned you have not got out of heroics in DDO yet, but the power leveling system which reduces your XP if other party members are more than 3 levels higher than you only exists from 1-20. Once you are in epics you can run quests as a fresh lvl 20 player with other lvl 34 members and not have the power leveling penalty. In heroics you can only be a max of 2 character lvls higher than the base level of the quest you run to earn max XP (in epics/legendary it is 4 lvls).
DDO as a game is more or less a library of short stories to play through, most of which are based off of D&D modules. There is no real main story, its more or less choosing which campaigns to level through.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Ravenloft
I can’t wait to check it out!

i once made a druid/warlock - enlightened bear spirit
in the options there is a checkbox for chest ransack timer
Carry a shield whilst going through traps to significantly reduce damage. The game is immense, you've barely scratched the surface.
