    I`m an African and I am very glad to see a western RUclips channel doing a video like this to not only correct the very inaccurate myths about such a legendary and trailblazing team like Zaire were but also properly celebrating and applauding their accolades, influence and ability as a proper footballing side. Thank you for doing this and I hope it helps change the very wrong perceptions about Africa and African football by some ignorant people who somehow refuse to look at us the same way they look at each other. We do matter! More of the same please, I definitely wouldn`t mind watching a few more videos that celebrate African football as well as football from everywhere else across the globe. Lumumba was genuinely a good guy too. He just wanted his country treated fairly by western powers and to have a political system of the people’s choosing. But MY GOD, a system that is slightly left of centre??? That must mean EVIL COMMUNISM and necessitates a killing spree 🙄

    • @mdb3040
      @mdb3040 3 года назад +7

      @Ricardo Leonardo I studied the Scramble for Africa at university. The word ‘bankrupt’ wasn’t even a word that made sense before Leopold got his dirty hands on the place and killed 10 million people. The Belgians weren’t communist, Lumumba wasn’t a communist and neither was Mobutu 🤷‍♂️ The Soviets had a little involvement during the Congo Crisis but Capitalist Western countries have been exploiting the Congo since the late 1800s and continue to do so to this day. Everyone who has an iPhone owns a little piece of the Congo. Probably thanks to some impoverished kid being paid next to nothing to dig the coltan out of the ground. I very much doubt it is communism forcing him to do it 🙄Maybe you can enlighten me and give me a different explanation??? 🤷‍♂️

      Where to start with Scottish football...a determination to breed and coach strong players that are good at hoof and chase football ahead of actual youngsters with talent for whole of the 1990s probably kept scotland playing 80s style football well into the new millennium. The SFA is not fit for purpose and is a corrupt old pals act.

      Well that's how things go and not limited to Africa. The US actually delivered the fuel that enabled the German Reich to attack its neighbouring countries. They made world war 2 happen without knowing about the high price they were going to pay. But wait, those weren't the millionaires and politicians who suffered, just dispensable stupid people got shot on the beach. The US have been involved in the generation of so many wars. Wasn't it Mrs.Albright who practically invited Saddam Hussein to invade Kuwait? The entire media war including crying diplomats daughters etc., financed or approved by the US. I really did not sympathize with Hugo Chavez. But after Bush left the UN meeting it really smelled like sulfur in the UN building for days. Well that answers the question I had when I first watched the clip on Nick Hancock's video - "Why the hell did he do that?" I never prescribed to that view of they didn't know the rules - if they didn't, they sure as hell wouldn't have qualified. Given the back story of not being paid, their actions are all the more unenviable and understandable. I really enjoy these videos that look at the political and historical undertones of what happened outside of the pitch because they give a certain context to proceedings that some will probably hate because "football and politics shouldn't mix."
