We Need To Talk About Achraf Hakimi & His Wife

- Over the past week, there has been an extraordinarily viral news story claiming that PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi has avoided having to pay his wife a divorce settlement in court because all of his assets are in his mother's name.
That's despite the fact that there is very little evidence to support that claim, but regardless of that fact, the entire tenor of the conversation seems to be rather odd given the context in which Hakimi and his wife Hiba Abouk are getting divorced.
So in this video, HITC Sevens attempts to find the truth behind some very slanted headlines, taking a look at both online misinformation and a rise in misogyny, and how the two are linked.

Thank you, Alfie. The entirity of the 'debate' and reporting over the Hakimi story just proves two things:
1) Misogynistic views concerning women in a marriage and especially wives of celebrities (regardless of their own celebrity status) are still really prevalent. When I read the story, I already had 10 red lights blinking because of the misogyny that this story conveyed.
But it 2) shows something much more concerning. In times of social media nobody needs sources anymore. A random instagram screenshot with no sources whatsoever was reposted time and time again. Nowadays, it's just about a scandalous story, not about the truth anymore.

Considering the timing of this story and how indictment of rape charges sullied Hakimi’s reputation - I honestly wouldn’t be surprised
Got myself thinking the same.

Hey Alfie, just wanted to say thanks for making this video. You might get a lot of hate for it, but it is nonetheless imperative that people with your considerable quantity of audience and quality of analysis, to continue to spread these nuanced reflections on rather tribalistic and yellow journalistic matters.
Personally, the whole Hakimi matter shines a light on the shockingly misogynistic and close-minded echo chamber of online football discourse. Most of these accounts are just sharing this whole misconception because it brings them easy clicks, they know most of social media is dominated with self-conscious trolls who feel threatened by the slightest challenge to bigoted traditions or young users who are easily impressionable. The reality is that rather than focusing on why PSG continue to play Hakimi, why Partey continues to play for Arsenal, or why Greenwood might return to Man United, football flans flock to the victims, insulting them and hating them because their favorite player, the guy they idolize every weekend, ends up being a human being as corruptible as us.
At the end of the day those who defend these idols might feel different if say, their sister, mother, daughter, niece, or cousin was the wife of Hakimi or the victims of Benjamin Mendy. Hakimi’s incident shouldn’t be a victory for us men, it is an embarrassment for us. How a man who made his mother proud by reaching a WC semifinal, is now hiding behind her during a divorce that might’ve been caused because of his own mistake. I don’t know about you guys, but that’s not what I learned manhood embodies. Manhood is about accepting and learning from your mistakes, accepting guilt when you merit and not hiding behind your mum. I hope Alfie, you abstain from deleting the comments on these videos, and perhaps in five years those who leave comments praising Hakimi can come back and appreciate how much they’ve matured.

Oh no! Apparently, one of Finland's 🇫🇮 largest newspapers fell into that misinformation trap today and reported that "news" as facts. Alfie, you're doing an extraordinarily awesome journalistic job! Keep up the great work! ☺️👍🏻
LOL "Journalistic job!" To be clear, I love Alfie! But also, to be clear, what he's doing here (as he himself has straight up told us time and time again because he doesn't need that kind of legal pressure) is *not* journalism (and that's perfectly ok, and think it's unfair to hold him to a journalistic standard - you don't have to be a journalist to speak honestly). What he's doing here is simply saying, "Here's a set of clear and obvious facts that I noticed that for some reason I need to say out loud because there are apparently *millions* of people who don't see it or are gaslighting others, and I need to restore some sanity to this world!"
As Alfie himself said, if he "reports" that Steve Sidwell has never been to Mars, he's not being a journalist, but simply stating a clear and obvious fact! And as you can see, this entire video is a ton of statements like that. At one point, he literally just goes through a series of tweets exchanged between him and some of these misogynistic know-nothings!
You get the picture! And to be clear, I *understand* why hearing this common sense *feels* like "journalism" (read: honest reporting that is heavily fact-checked and that you can trust to be true) nowadays - because so many disreputable sources *posing* as journals and legitimate sources have appeared in this day and age to try to fool masses into believing that complete nonsense is "fact!" They are so terrible, they make Alfie look like a "real journalist" by simply pointing out things he can be 99.9999% confident are true (such as that Steve Sidwell has never been to Mars)!
But yes, I guess what I'm trying to say is, *that* is the sad state of this world! The most commonly read "news sources" (in quotes because they literally are *not* news sources - case in point: Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson himself literally argued in court that no reasonable person would believe what he says! Read: he literally admitted that his viewers are certifiably insane) are so full of lies and nonsense, that any random person with the slightest amount of common sense sounds like a genius by comparison!
Anyway, that all being said, I thank Alfie for helping us regain our sanity during such a time!
One of Alfie's most entertaining videos ever. There's a lot of competition for that title, but I laughed out loud multiple times and really didn't expect that with the subject matter!
Another point about giving money to his mother: in most cases this would have triggered quite some hefty taxes which might have been about as much as he would have to give to his wife.
It's no coincidence that the vast majority of people backing Hakimi are either African, arab or south asian
Again a fantastic video! It is so rare these days to find a youtube content creator that still has what a real newswriter should have.
But why do we need to talk about something that is solely a private issue of a person who happens to be a footballer? Is this channel going to become a gossip magazine?
@@jtduarte6829 While I think I get where you're coming from, this video wasn't solely talking about a footballers private issues and merely speculating on them. @Kev Burner Let me guess you are a Torie fan since you called Alfie a liberal as if that is a bad thing
@David Palero 6:12 he brings up Hakimi being indicated on R charges on a barstool football quote tweet. Yes like you said it's true but literally had no reason to bring that up when the main point was showing that they had false evidence. It was just a move to lower Hakimi's image and showed his bias when what he wrote in the first paragraph was enough to prove that their post was false.
What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Maybe you need to learn the difference between being indicted for a crime and being convicted for it. Your tone from this video and the way you talk about Hakimi suggests that you're already assuming or even suggesting that he's guilty. Surely, it would make more sense to talk about something as serious as r*pe allegations after the trial has finished and a verdict has been reached with enough evidence to back it in a court of law.
Secondly, reading off tweets from 13 year olds in a condescending and pretentious way does not make for quality viewing. And spewing some lazy rhetoric about incels, red pills and Andrew Tate is far below your usual high standards Most sane people including myself with lives of their own couldn't care less about two multimillionaires and their divorce settlement. The positive reaction towards this hakimi’s news stems from men just wanting to see men win in divorce settlements. I’m not supporting hakimi in any way but splitting a man’s property in half in divorces should not even be a thing to begin with except in certain circumstances.
Eboue lost his entire fortune in a settlement. and no woman ever said that was unfair, the world simply moved on. Hakimi gets accused of rape, somehow she feels entitled to more than half of his properties. How does one make up for the other ?
Yes exactly on point with that observation.
Less than 20% of divorces result in splitting of assets and less than 10% result in alimony payments
Too many men live vicariously through wealthy male celebs and get personally offended when those wealthy men have to split assets with their (usually) stay-at-home wives.
The vast majority of divorce settlements that require splitting of assets are where the wife was a stay-at-home mom, who put her career on hold or ended it entirely to take care of the family.
If both parents were working formal jobs it's extremely rare for the assets to be split straight down the middle

The idiocy you covered in this video is precisely why I have never, and will never sign up for twitter, lol.
You're spot on saying they'll grow out of it, I was a proper arse in my teens and early 20s I grew out of it pretty quick and grew some common sense. I just hope some of these kids have the ability of critical thinking and a good friend group to show them sense.
It's crazy how many mainstream media outlets have picked this up without any source and even the likes of Andrew Schulz and Thogden are talking about this as real and Glorifying Hakimi and saying things like "Real life 4D chess" or "massive dub by Hakimi" it's really outrageous
Shulzy holds hands with his dad when they cry together. He's a fucking loser that glorifies losers
i’m a very big fan of this channel and even more so after watching this, you put everything going through my mind while looking at twitter during this whole nightmare into a video🙌
Yeah...this is also not fair coverage at all. You seem to really treat a guy accused of something just as bad as someone actually convicted of it. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
Did you even watch the video. He defender her way more. Also even if accused are charged, most sexist fans don't care.
@Mir Baloch Khan Alfie used alleged everywhere because French police has indicted Hakimi. So I don't know where this commentor is talking about convicted. This video is more about fake story.
Lesson of the story: Do not get married
Thank you, Alfie. Hope this money somehow gets passed on to you, even though RUclips probably pays this out to HITC
Edit: Also, I agree with all the positive comments, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Thanks dvleiva1!
A big hello to the people who married their sole mates.
We definitely need more people like you in this world very good video 🤝
You definitely need more people who are aligned with your ideas.
What I found bonkers is the fact people would assume a person (who they suspect of malintent!) Wouldn't know their partners financial status.
Since his ex-wife is a strong, independent and wealthy woman she shouldn't want his money.😂
Thanks Alfie for making this video!
Thanks for making this, it's done my head in to see so many pages pump out this '4D chess' bullshit about it and people making him out to be a hero
This is wholesome content. It's nice to hear a voice of reason pushing back against all that crap.
Day 9: best XI Brazilians that played for other nations
So it's okay to brand someone an "accused rapist" but misogynistic when branding someone else "greedy"
Hakimi is indicted that is an accusation, so accused rapist is a true statement.
@@williamcross210 and greedy is true for her
@@kingjahad100 Greedy is an opinion. Accused rapist is a quantifiable fact
Hope this basic lesson on language helps! Would hope you'd covered the difference between fact and opinion in primary school though...
@@kingjahad100 the court did the branding.
Blows my mind people believed this story so readily. Alfie you’re an absolute treasure
Why did they believe it so readily? I don't understand why you don't address the reason why?
Because divorces never go that way and we need to talk about it.
@@Brwntwn4G Just kids who've been brainwashed by Andrew tate celebrating a fake story
@@Brwntwn4G Before this I saw this RUclips short by Thogden on this topic. ‘Achraf Hakimi is a genius.’ Have a quick look at the comments there if you’d like. I genuinely couldn’t believe my eyes 💀
I think it just comes down to people shutting their brains off and believing anything they hear as long as it conforms to their biases. People liked the heartwarming story about Hakimi and his mum during the World Cup, so they wanted to see him painted in a good light. There was zero thought process beyond that.
And yeah, how such a large number of people don’t know even the basics of how a divorce works absolutely baffles me as well 😭
Don't worry my friend, life and time will teach you a very valuable lesson about vindictive women. Leaving an alleged rapist is not the issue, demanding more than half of what he worked for after Leaving is. A woman 10 years older that a man will never marry a boy without a motive. I'm 1000% certain that is she met him living in the slums of Morocco he would never turned her head.
Did you even watch the video? Judging by the description you made of her I assume you didn't.
She's 12 years older so maybe do some research and get your facts right. You seem to be missing the main point that he is an alleged rapist(your words) and without him cheating(which he has addmited the question is concent) they would still be married with the two kids they also have maybe do some research instead of just reading headlines
@Ebuns0304 don't care about research! And I know she is 36 he is 24. My point is, all gold diggers can go fuck themselves! No one man/woman deserves half of someone's else assets without contributing to acquisition of said assets!
Normally it would make sense. But this woman was a predator, started dating him just a while he stopped becoming a minor and married him for the sole reason of taking away 50% of his wealth. So, I'm satisfied with this conclusion.
Do you know her personally? Guess you didn‘t watch the video..
The only thing we need to talk about is what a smoke she is. She can have half this one room apartment anytime
Ahh thanks Alfie this video is needed
People are too quick to praise Hakimi before seeing the details of why they are getting a divorce. Just goes to show how you need to read things properly before making a judgement.
He's admitted something happened with the accused too which is good enough reason for the marriage to end in its self let alone the rape alligation but somehow she's in the wrong.
Soo you not supposed to trust your spouse? No innocent until proven guilty? Kobe Bryant got accused of grape too, Vanessa stood by his side.
@@yangthuggie5647 Yes you are but if you actually look into the story here he admitted infidelity the question is the concent. So that's proves she can't trust him so why would she stick by him?
@@ebuns when did he admitted? What article? Even his mom stood by him, why couldn't you? The timing of it is too perfect. As soon as shit hit the fan " oh im out btw you gotta gimme half of your shit even the things you own before we got married"
@@yangthuggie5647 any article that came out as soon he got arrested and suspended by psg. Mum's stick by people no matter what so that's irrelevant. I get your point it does look like that if you didn't know about his arrest in the first place.
They broke up as soon as he was arrested
@@ebuns he didnt get arrested. Its still on going investigation. And the woman who accused him of rape still didnt press charges. Look the point is the timing she files for divorce is too sus. All im sayin is she didnt deserved what she want, you Demanded HALF of his fortune?? Cmon you could get some compensation but not half. Peace
so proud of you to making this video
I don't agree with some your statements, especially about the concept marriage. Many men out there suffer from infidelity, toxicity and misogyny from women. Then when they want to divorce their wife. They are met with a 50/50 assets agreement. Now tell me that's fair. I know men do those things, but the exception doesn't make the rule. 70% of divorces are initiated by women in the USA. What does that tell you?
"misogyny from women" - That's called misandry. As for that 70% figure... hummm, maybe men tend to be more unfaithful and go looking for greener grass than women. As a reward they get a divorce.
It tells you a few things:
- Gender roles. Men are socialised to have lower emotional intelligence than women. It is thus more likely that a man emotionally neglects a woman than the other way around. I stress that I say more likely, not always
- This difference in emotional intelligence also means women are more likely to spot problems in a relationship and are also more likely to understand exactly what they're feeling
- in the US, women take on the majority of the actual work of maintaining marriage, family, and the home. They're more likely to make significant sacrifices to actually make a marriage work. So when it doesn't work, they're more likely to be pissed off enough to end it
Now this next one may trigger a few snowflakes in these comments...
- Women are more likely to be the victims of serious abuse at levels where a divorce may be considered. In the US, 84% of spousal murder victims are women, and women are 6 times more likely to be injured by a partner. While research on rates of domestic violence themselves are varied and inconclusive, it is agreed generally among academics who study such things that domestic violence from men is a far more serious problem due to the much higher risk of injury and psychological problems as a result. Thus, more women will find themselves in a relationship where serious shit happens to them and they can't take it anymore. Bear in mind, I say this as someone who grew up in a household where the woman was very much the abuser
One thing that is notable is that it's women who are independently wealthy or college educated that are more likely to file for divorce. Divorce is a difficult and complex thing for both parties, and leaving a marriage when you don't have the means currently to fend for yourself is terrifying
So you're giving her 50% of everything you made and you get nothing from her if you're both working? Yeah that's fair.
Dude learn to get to the point of the video post. I wanna watch it but u feel us the viewers with way too much garbage first. Get to the story first then spill that garbage later..plizzzz. Big ups to Hakimi
this has always been his video style, and we love it. You are welcome to leave
@@nikolas8203 I never joined
I agree with the premise of the video but when talking about wealth, let’s not act like the divorce courts aren’t notoriously sexist AND misogynistic. A court system can exhibit misogyny and still be in favour of women.
Divorce courts are mysandrist if anything...
thank you for making this!
Proper comment: I had managed to miss this story, and I am very, very glad I did.
Well sad for couples but you can't ask someone half wealth work for your own money.
What we need to talk about is abolishing Capitalism and stopping the destruction of the family, culture, environment and human psyche in the pursuit of private profit for an extreme minority.

But if we do that, what will happen to the microscopically small chance that I will get to attain top dog status in the economic oppression ladder?
