Right, instead of mindlessly holding R2 or just letting one of these mfs fall from 15 stories without penalty - I remember that I should probably be careful diving towards the ground while playing on Spectacular (Ive died from fall damage at full health😂)
Number 7, the ceiling hang is actually really useful in a lot of the stealth scenarios with high ceilings. Ceiling and wall takedowns are the most effective way to completely stealth the base missions quickly.
The first one was hands down the best gaming experience I've had in a long time. The story was fairly condensed but not short making it not a slog to get through. There was a decent amount of fun side quest stuff that wasn't boring or worthless, and the god complex of being a Spiderman at the height of his powers and destroying villains while also being able to traverse an open world was absolutely thrilling. Cannot wait to pick this one up
Another thing the game doesn't tell you, if you're doing the regular ground sling shot, you can aim your angle. If you want to go upwards, aim your camera upwards before hitting L2+X
One of my favorite upgrades for the web shooters is one where it sends smaller enemies flying back after being fully webbed up. Super useful in the late game as a fully upgraded web shooter one-shots certain enemy types. Also go out of your way to upgrade the sonic burst gadget once you get it because it also makes certain enemy types stupid easy to deal with.
They for sure tell you in the first game about perching on a ledge, and I think there’s legit a few missions where you explicitly have to rappel with your web from a ceiling to get angles on stuff. still pretty easy to miss i guess
Yeah, it was definitely explained in the first game, but I think it was only one mission at the start that introduced you to the mechanic, and it was a brief moment in a chaotic scene. I remember having to remind myself to use the web zip unprompted because the game never put you in situations where you were required to use it. But I definitely needed it to get the drop on enemies in certain situations.
For the swing assist, I just gradually turned it down throughout my playthrough so I didn't feel much of a difference but when I was going for platinum I turned it back up to 10 for more fun.

What's weird about the swing assist setting is that when it's at zero, it only effects you while you're hanging from a web, but not on the jump arcs between swings. See you can shift your direction with the left stick, even though realistically jumping forward will set you on an arc strictly into the initial direction. In this way you are acquiring all of your skill points necessary to complete each challenge. Have fun and swing on!🕷️🕸️
Funny enough, when I first heard about the swing assist, ppl were saying it made swinging harder, tried it myself and I said the same thing "this just feel like old SM2, this ain't hard"
Number 7 is actually super useful for stealth. If you zip up and hang over an enemy you can get a takedown on them. Super useful on enemies that arent under a ledge, walkway or lightpole.
One thing I discovered but was never directly mentioned was being able to create a web zip line outside of combat and stealth sections of the game. As long as you’re perched on a ledge or on the side of a building you can hold L2 and aim somewhere in range and press triangle to create a web line to walk across
In both games the quickest way to dispatch a group of enemies is based on where the fight is: Street level, web someone up, uppercut, yank down, instant KO On roofs, jump over the edge of the building and start yanking them off one at a time, you'll just float in mid air like a Buddhist master if you keep yanking people. Works amazing for the mysterio challenges
I used PTO to have 5 days off for this game. I never thought to see myself using my vacation time to play a video game. But Insomniac's Spider-Man games are the sht... Also allows my 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack to have a break. Putting to many miles on that thing, lol. Enjoying tf out of this games so far..
Another fun fact, go to audio setting and scroll almost all the way down. There is an option that lets you change the free roam swinging theme from act 1, act 2, and act 3. So if post game you wish you could swing to the black suit free roam theme, just switch it to act 2. And for the venom symbiote infested city theme switch to act 3. And act 1 is the default for when you beat the main game.
I’d recommend unlocking the disarm ability in the shared skill tree as soon as possible. It is SOOOO useful to be able to rip any weapon or shield out of the enemy’s hands and throw it back at them
My advice: When you start game, stick with the main story for the first few hours. There are things on the map/menu that appear before they are explained. Like when I noticed there are people burning houses... And the game tells you later who they are.
Im still a ps4 player but man I was so excited for this game to come out because I loved the first game. I cant wait to get a ps5 next year and grind this game to the max!

Turned off swing assist and and turned on fall damage, at first it was a lot of very awkward swinging. But very quickly got used to it, it was nice to be able to be more precise in your swings.
Super helpful setting- quick actions- reduce speed. If you find yourself being pumbled into a fine paste over and over, and you don't want to turn down the difficulty, you can help train your skills by setting "reduce game speed" to one of your directional buttons. I use it when I'm about to die and really don't want to start over.
I defeated final boss on Spectacular difficulty with only 2 focus bars.. definitely would recommend investing that extra time into that third focus bar to give u that extra edge, game gets a lot harder otherwise. Unless you're like me and can do anything ;)
5:50 I think they are counting on you playing the first one which told you about perching, webzipping, and hanging. However, really should have been a tutorial thing. There are so many already, what’s a few others.
Fall damage ABSOLUTELY exists in OG Spiderman 2, you can beat a deadly fall from a SUPER TALL building by piledriving someone. You still take damage but you pixel survive the fall from full health.
As someone whom literally didn't do a single side quest that wasn't forced until the end mission warning... I seriously struggled... especially cause I played on Amazing difficulty
Yeah, you really need to take your time with the game and do one side mission, one story mission and keep it balanced for the upgrades and experience. I understand people want to rush through the story to get to Venom, but my biggest tip is take your time and enjoy it

Another very useful tool that I didn’t realize could be unlocked was the minimap information, it allows you to sense tech parts, rare tech parts and spider bots which greatly help for 100% the game, got it towards the end but I wish I had gotten it earlier
I turned on fall damage and put swing assist to 0 immediatly and it feels incredible, it really makes the swinging more engaging and makes the badass manouvers feel more earnt and thoughtful
Falcon sounds so much like Bruce Cambell in this video, it's hilarious. Especially when he was talking about the webshootera: "Webshooters should be a vital part of your arsenal. Any time an enemy is near a wall or on the ground WEB EM! ... Hell, just web em while they're standing there!" I love it
As far as number 6 goes, I didn't realize the side quests were so essential, and I went into the last third of the game on spectacular with next to no upgrades outside of traversal.
One thing the game definitely does not tell you, is that you have extra options for mapping your DPad. You go into your controller settings, and you can set left or right (I think those were the two unset ones) to different commands, for instance the left is photo mode because it was easier than trying to swipe the screen button every time. But the best options, are slowing down time options. Basically, you set which ever speed you want it slowed to, 50 or 75 percent to a direction on the dpad, then you press it in game and it turns on. Really helped with some of the fine flying or the mysteriums where you can not get hit.
Hanging from the cieling most definitely has its uses. Mostly just for stealth takedowns but it can be used to get great angles for pictures or webbing someone to the wall.
I beat it on spectacular with no gadget upgrades. Barely used them. Two focus bars, and just randomly did suit upgrades lol. Bosses were tough but genuinely enjoyed every bit of the story, such a good game man.
For the Mysteriums, if you're having trouble getting gold times, I HIGHLY recommend going into gameplay settings and setting the game speed to 30%. I did that for literally all of them because they started to get really frustrating and I managed to get all golds first try on all but one, which I got on second try.
Or do side missions to level up and upgrade as much as you can beforehand. One or two of the Mys. missions gave me some trouble. Having extra gadgets n skills helped a lot.
@@pr9551 True that always works, ofc. But I have a toxic play style where IF something is unlocked and able to be completed, I absolutely HAVE to do it right then and there before continuing the main story lmao. Makes things challenging sometimes, especially in this case, but I typically get there in the end
9:33 If you're having trouble getting gold on the no hit challenges. Stop fighting. Get the anvil upgrade right next to the upgrade Thrasher 3:53(this lets you pick up the big brutes) Swing off the edge of the no hit challenges and just web yank enemies. They fall to their deaths into the void. FOCUS gunners since they can shoot you while swinging. And just Web and yank enemies. You'll have an easy time. The rocket gadget also helps a lot with this since you can yank and throw enemies in the air.
There were a few things I noticed that i couldn't find fixes for in accessibility. For one, i have huge fingers so my left thumb is always flicking up the TouchPad and i could not find a way to disable the swiping features. One other thing is you used to be able to web up an enemy and if you cancel your throw they would still fly in whatever direction they'd get thrown, but now if you do that they somehow just stand up almost canceling your throw instead
@SurfinTheKaliYuga I'd hate to think they'd do something like that but it is certainly odd that all of the bot comments specifically are being "hearted" by Gameranx. Not a good look at all.

How difficult is it to avoid. How high can you safely fall without taking damage? Do you need to control your momentum while swinging as well so you don't faceplant into the side of a building?
@@Amins88 im still figuring that out, but if you’re playing on spectacular and fall far enough to go into a dive naturally (w/o hitting l3) - you WILL die if you hit the ground. At least in the early game since I only have the amazing health 1 upgrade so far
@@radricdavis7612 When I can afford to get it, I'll probably be turning it on from the start. But I was curious how forgiving it was. Like, can you jump off a one-story building and be fine? In both games the quickest way to dispatch a group of enemies is based on where the fight is:
Street level, web someone up, uppercut, yank down, instant KO
On roofs, jump over the edge of the building and start yanking them off one at a time, you'll just float in mid air like a Buddhist master if you keep yanking people. Works amazing for the mysterio challenges
5:50 welp that's a blatant Lie... they literally show u how to do that in a flashback stealth mission
I literally watched Spider-Man go splat 3 times in a row 😂😂 I find myself doing funny stuff in games like that too. Great video Falcon.
The ledge perch prompt came up for me while playing about an hour ago.
I’d recommend unlocking the disarm ability in the shared skill tree as soon as possible. It is SOOOO useful to be able to rip any weapon or shield out of the enemy’s hands and throw it back at them
Thanx for keeping these spoiler-free, Gameranx (and Falcon). It’s really appreciated. Y’all are the best.
cept for the part that shows that we fight wraith at some point..
@@BLUEMOONCAM well, rats. I missed that bit
@@BLUEMOONCAM Yep :\
My advice: When you start game, stick with the main story for the first few hours. There are things on the map/menu that appear before they are explained.
Like when I noticed there are people burning houses... And the game tells you later who they are.
Im still a ps4 player but man I was so excited for this game to come out because I loved the first game. I cant wait to get a ps5 next year and grind this game to the max!

this game is a blessing.
SPOILERS:
the moment when you get to play as venom and destroy everyone in oscorp was my absolute highlight. i am a massive venom fan, so this was just a spectacular event do have.
also seeing SCREAM in this was another moment that gave me chills and i had to pause the game for a second to realize what amazing stuff is happening in this very moment!!!!
Love the “Into the Spiderverse Noir” costume and the animation style for it.
Turned off swing assist and and turned on fall damage, at first it was a lot of very awkward swinging. But very quickly got used to it, it was nice to be able to be more precise in your swings.
Im just seeing videos ab the game now, I already finished the game with absolute zero spoilers and I love it, gonna go for the plat now
The R3 ledge perch thing is definitely mentioned in the game. It came up as a tool tip for me. 4:54
I never thought I’d look forward to a bird talking about video games but I do! Thank you for the great videos!
For those who don't know, the timed symbiote challenges can be skipped by changing to a venom suit then changing the suit again.
Huh?
@@spazzattackk101 choose another suit, then back to the symbiote suit. You'll skip it immediately. They'll patch this soon so do it fast
I just platinumed this game. I want to cry out of happiness. My first real platinum on a game and what better way than this one.
Yeah, the wall zipping and hanging was in the first game and the Miles M. game too.
the game teaches you hanging, either falcon forgot or didn't notice
I got a prompt early on about perching in this game. But I agree, if you played the first game the controls for the most part are the same.
@@krislancaster1214 true, while sneaking in the place to grab the thing.
Game teaches you all of this stuff fairly quickly except perch anywhere
Fall damage
ABSOLUTELY exists in OG Spiderman 2, you can beat a deadly fall from a SUPER TALL building by piledriving someone. You still take damage but you pixel survive the fall from full health.
Man, i just need the most realistic swinging option as well as some nice dynamic and smooth clmbing animations + mechanics, like in the movies.
Great Video! OMG THIS IS LITERALLY THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!!!!!!
IT'S EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED!!!!!! THANK YOU INSOMNIAC!!!!!!
As someone whom literally didn't do a single side quest that wasn't forced until the end mission warning... I seriously struggled... especially cause I played on Amazing difficulty
Yeah, you really need to take your time with the game and do one side mission, one story mission and keep it balanced for the upgrades and experience.
I understand people want to rush through the story to get to Venom, but my biggest tip is take your time and enjoy it
@@SX1995ableplz no spoilers, cuz I don't have the black suit yet,but is it worth it to play with it for a longer time than is really necessary? Or are there any heavy restrictions that can't be done while wearing it? Or something similar?

1:30 😂 Yes it did. A lot of us have a collective memory of jumping off the highest point! But I will love this channel regardless! ❤
Swing assist off feels like a NG+ thing or even a second play though where you have everything down and you want a better challenge
I mean we had two games to get accustomed to the swinging 😂
It’s still easy on level 1 lol. Harder for sure but in no way difficult, still fun though
Another very useful tool that I didn’t realize could be unlocked was the minimap information, it allows you to sense tech parts, rare tech parts and spider bots which greatly help for 100% the game, got it towards the end but I wish I had gotten it earlier
Would thay be in the Tech section?
@@jbktpl1245 Suit upgrades, Traversal. VERY useful

The fall damage DOES exist in the 2004 Spiderman 2 Game

Sounds boring but tough I guess as a sense of achievement or something lol
@@Ccubed92 Parry and dodge are just really really strong.

I just bought Spiderman 2 today, and went with the Digital Deluxe edition, this video helped a lot. Ty
Great explanation Falcon, can wait to play this today!
This has been the most helpful video about this game ive seen so far. Great job my man.
It almost seems like you didn’t really play the game, most of these tips are still used in the first game so you are not stating anything too new bro
I often found myself angry for wasting a focus bar on a finisher in a boss fight only to then die a second later as I needed the health 😂
Hello, Falcon!!
Hello
At 7:11 u see the ultimate difficulty how do u get that?
9:33 If you're having trouble getting gold on the no hit challenges. Stop fighting. Get the anvil upgrade right next to the upgrade Thrasher 3:53(this lets you pick up the big brutes) Swing off the edge of the no hit challenges and just web yank enemies. They fall to their deaths into the void. FOCUS gunners since they can shoot you while swinging. And just Web and yank enemies. You'll have an easy time. The rocket gadget also helps a lot with this since you can yank and throw enemies in the air.
You don't have to worry about falling since that doesn't damage you, and you automatically launch yourself back up.
I ended the main story with just 1 focus bar, it was brutal 😵
Only figured out the extra bars after final fight.
Same here@@chrishellmax
learning how to swing with no assist was truly the best experience i had with this game, probably my favorite gaming experience this year
There were a few things I noticed that i couldn't find fixes for in accessibility.
Yea that’s definitely a skill issue 😂😂😂😂😂 the touchpad is a part of the controller no way to disable it
Are you looking in accessibility in game or in the ps5 settings? That sucks you might need the PlayStation portal more than anyone lol
PlayStation controllers are a terrible design. I have big hands and having the thumb sticks so close together really sucks.

I wish i saw this video before playing the game . The amount of times i died in boss fights were unreal . 1 boss fight would take me like 20 attempts, especially in the mister negative and lizaid fight . 2 run was much easier due to knowing what needed to be upgraded.
LOVE the fall damage feature!! Instead of mindlessly holding R2 or just letting one of these mfs fall from 15 stories without penalty - I remember that I should probably be careful diving towards the ground while playing on Spectacular (Ive died from fall damage at full health😂)
Or is it like Dead Island 2 where you hop off a 4-foot ledge and nearly die? But my main concern was how much you have to control momentum. Because I tried role playing fall damage in the first game just to get a feel for how it would make sense, and it is ridiculously hard to control. Maybe the wing suit makes up for it?
@Amins88 Most common way I've taken fall damage is clipping a building during a loop de loop
