Granny Vhagar is a major issue. She’s a behemoth, she’s fierce & implacable when roused. None of the blacks can expect to defeat or subdue Aemond/Vhagar & survive the confrontation. Any volunteers? Meleys, Caraxes, Vermithor, & Silverwing are all formidable beasts, yet I’d guess Vhagar is still larger than all of them by half at the least 🤷♂️
She's also old, slow and doesn't have an experienced rider. She's Definitely a big problem but when there's a will there's a way 👀

Even with their 7 rided dragons(6 if you wanna leave joffrey out) the plan of surrounding kings landing would’ve worked, let’s face it, dreamfire and helaena ain’t fighting, we all saw how meleys manhandled sunfyre in 2x4, that leaves only vaghar, which could’ve been distracted by daemon and caraxes while meleys dealth with sunfyre, then it’s 6v1

He is not wrong in this instance that does change but only because mistakes made early in the start of the dance. Had the blacks acted immediately the same day with full force on kings landing the war would have been over the dragons would have survived and many lives would have been saved from the war. They could have went in and had 2-3 dragons per one dragon on the greens with extra dragons to destroy the army and any resistance the greens had they would have held the throne and the queen would sit the throne by morning. They wasted to much time allowed to many moves to be made.
But I also understand George wouldn’t have wrote all the other books if it ended doing what made sense 😂

When the war councils started and Daemon already had the main strategy planned out, I was hoping she would've accpeted his planned and deployed immediately. Had they done that, the greens would've lost. Then again, we wouldn't have a show either, so there's that.

@@Hi-Fitxtthe Stepstones was a petty skirmish in comparison to the Dance, and in the books it’s portrayed as a pretty easy victory for Daemon that only took so long due to logistical failures. The show just wanted to add more drama and tension to it.
and it's rhaenyras reticence that cost them. if she just turned daemon and every dragon loose on kings landing they would have won quickly and easily. it's all the sugar footing that ruined everything just like with danerys

Many of them were either riderless or wild dragons. And also other side had Vhagar. Which is ironic considering later Daemon and Caraxes were the one to bring Vhagar down.

Like she had massive advantage in terms of both the number of dragons as well as quality of dragon riders on her side yet she almost lost the war due to her bad decisions. For example sending Rhaenys alone in battle of Rook's Nest resulting in her death and straining her relationship with Velaryons who were her biggest supporters.

Daemon was right to do so. He saw the political snakes in Kings Landing for what they were as they whispered their honeyed words into his brother’s ear. Daemon was the first to see Otto Hightower for who he truly was and wasn’t afraid to call him out for it. And Hightower wasn’t necessarily evil either as he did try to help out King Viserys to the best of his abilities. However, it’s clear that Hightower naturally cared more about advancing his own family’s interests than he did for any Targaryens who weren’t blood related to him.
Daemon wanted the throne too, yes, but he loved his brother and would never try to supplant him for it. The two siblings grew up almost like best friends and knew each other very well. Daemon could see that Viserys was a kind person, but also too kind to the point that others took advantage of him, which unfortunately ended up making his leadership soft when he became king. So he wanted to protect Viserys from those people. Daemon knew that the schemers around his brother had been allowed to fester for too long and would cause a war for the throne, and they did.

If only his brother had recognized Daemon's cunning, volatility and pride as weapons he could use against their family's enemies, the downfall of their dynasty could have been postponed if not avoided. He was putting the best, most optimistic spin on their numbers, ignoring the reality of it: they didn't have a dozen dragons, they had three that were immediately usable in terms of dragon-against-dragon combat, ASSUMING Rhaenys agreed to fight for the Blacks openly (which in the show was not a guarantee the way it is in the books).
He counted among their number dragons that were riderless, dragons that were feral, and dragons that were too small to fight the dragons at the Greens' beck and call. He also counted EGGS, which even IF they hatched (not a surefire thing) would still take time to grow into a ridable dragon capable of fighting Sunfyre, Dreamfyre, and Tessarion.
But even IF they did, Aemond rides Vhagar. The dragon of Queen Visenya, nearly as large as Balerion the Black Dread.

Daemon says the Greens have 3 adults, but by his own count sp does he. Syrax, Meleys and Caraxes. The rest are juveniles. Vermithor is the only dragon that would have a chance against Vhagar in a one on one fight, and he would be the underdog, and he is currently riderless. It's a lot closer than Daemon wants to believe.
It's definetely not close but the Greens still won every dragon battle . Caraxes ( Daemon ) , Meleys ( Rhaenys ) , Syrax ( Rhaenyra ) , Vermax ( Jace ) , Tyraxes ( Joffrey ) and Seasmoke ( Laenor will definetely return ) against Sunfyre ( Aegon ) , Tessarion ( Daeron) and Vhagar ( Aemond ) . I don't count Dreamfyre ( Helaena ) becuse she will get riderless in the first episode of season 2
The Wild Dragons Daemon mentioned are Grey Ghost, Sheepstealer, and the Cannibal. Only 1 of the 3 are claimed by the Blacks and that's Sheepstealer ridden by Nettles in the books, but it seems they're going with Rhaena in the show.

@@rtk-ok1yp she fought with her son that died in the battle, burning the fleet that accidentally intercepted her other two sons she tried to send to essos. Nettles was inconsolable after the battle. Probably because they lost both jace and viserys

@@rtk-ok1yp Vhagar,Sunfyre and Tessarion were freaking incredible, they won most of the battles despite of two of them were the youngest between the main players.
The dance of dragons is foolish writing, think of dragons like tanks or better yet combat jets, you don’t send jets piece meal into combat you send a formation, the blacks in reality would have wiped the greens out in one go were it not for plot armour.
Vhagar counts as like 5 dragons though, it'll be a huge challenge to take her on.

I always felt that he is the only one thats true to the real power of the Targareons. Hes doing all the heavy lifting while the rest are just soft brats spoiled in Royal titles. Hes gone to war, entered caves to harvest eggs, beheaded a man who disrespected his family, told the king what was truly in his heart, was always skeptical of the greenness, and in the final episode dated to enter the dwelling of the great Dragon to claim him. No one else in the line has any clue about the dragons. They treat them like horses for a pleasure here of there. His dragon was used for war.
Daemon didn’t claim Vermithor.
As great as Daemon is, it is a little silly of him to just do the numbers game, 3-13 and discount that Vhagar was worth 10 of their dragons and dragon riders. Only Daemon riding Caraxes could have beaten her. Any other rider/dragon combo 1-1 was doomed.
Daemon filled with delusions of grandeur. Vhagar counts as three dragons by herself. Sea smoke is not going to allow anyone to claim him/her while Laenor is alive. Those eggs incubating won’t hatch exactly when you want them to, then after that, they pose no threat on any large scale. All they have are his dragon, Rhaneyra’s, Melys, and what dragon Jace has and Moondancer. Like Rhaneyra said…who’s going to ride those wild or unclaimed dragons?
Daemon (Jace in the book) suggests they start looking for dragonseeds, people who have Targaryen blood via bastards and could control the dragons. Vermithor and Silverwing find riders, as do Sheepstealer and Seasmoke.
If we're talking abt size, sure Vhagar can be easily count as 3-5 dragons but in 1v1 dragon battle, Caraxes and Meleys can take her on. Vhagar is big but now slow and old, Meleys is the swiftest and fastest dragon known at the time, she not lacking in size either, while Caraxes is known for being very much like Daemon, wild and chaotic, battle hungry dragon. The other two also had a much experience dragon riders compared to young Aemond.
Yeah if Meleys and Caraxes double-teamed Vhagar I’m not sure either would even die.

Granted for the Greens, Vhagar has also seen her fair share of War, under 2 of her previous riders.
