I'm an artist, and I'm just starting to learn Ukulele. I've been bad about doing hand stretches, and these exercises really made me notice how stiff and cramp-y my hands have been getting 😅I can tell already though that these will help a lot, though!
It allowed me to feel the areas in my hands with the most problems, and while my hands are a little ache-y from the stretches they feel soooo much less stiff! I'm definitely going to try and do these every day, I think it'll help keep my hand in better shape not just for uke but also for drawing! :)

Thank you for this! I already do some PT exercises due to an old injury, and I also have mild arthritis developing in both hands. I believe playing uke is the best medicine to keep both of my hands mobile and strong! A couple of these were new to me, especially the isolation of the fingers. Feels really beneficial. Thank you!!

OMG this made so much sense 😲 I mean a sportsman would warm up before a match and when I song in a choir as a child and teenage we would always starting with some up warming, so of course also when you play and instrument.

    Hi Cynthia,
Thank you so much for this video -- I really appreciate learning exercises that can help me take care of my hands and wrists. I also have played piano since I was young and play percussion professionally, so it is a lot of exercise for my hands and joints and wrists -- knowing how to take care of myself this way is invaluable to me.

Thanks so much for this video! I’ve been playing ukulele for about 4 yrs now and never do warm up for my hands and arms etc. Lately i have been teaching my 86 yr old Mom how to play ukulele and she has bad arthritis. I was trying to think of simple stretches for her to use, but I think this will help both of us a lot. I will show her this tomorrow and hopefully it will help her with easier chording in this early stage!

Badly injured right wrist some 6 or more years ago and thought healed w/ PT, also KT taping. Just discovered things you’re showing I can do w/ L hand/wrist are not working as well on R hand/wrist. Will do every day now before picking up my uke. You have have added a few decades more to my playing, seriously. 😍

Thank you Cynthia. I found those quite useful. Especially the last few years the tendons have been tightening up in my hands. I feel a noticeable improvement in circulation after I do these exercises. I would love it if you’d add some exercises for neck and shoulders. After long sessions (4-5 hours). I really need to stretch and loosen my neck/shoulder muscles. Love to see your recommendations. Even using a shoulder strap on my ukes bring their own tensions. Thanks again.

How wonderful, Cynthia! As an older ukulele student, I'm so grateful. Age seems to make it more difficult for me to do certain chords which is frustrating. But I believe that these exercises will help keep my hands limber and perhaps help with my playing. Thank you, again.

Question: I just started playing a few weeks ago , so maybe that’s why it makes me feel too exhausted to play after these stretches? Did I overdo it? Or do I just not have the strength yet? It’s nice to be all warmed up, but don’t want to be too tired to practice.
This felt AMAZING, though! I don’t think my hands have ever had this good of a stretch.
