  • Mercedes-Benz make great cars & vans, and the Citan 111 is no different. From hard wearing plastics to great fuel economy, the Citan truly does everything you could ask it to do. The real test though, is a week with Music Motors - seeing just how well it can handle the lifestyle.

I rented one in 2018 and have loved to taken it home with me. C111 turbo diesel with manual transmission. Absolutely loved it!

Hopeing to buy one this week. It is basically a kangoo tho. Renault engine. But if there’s a kangoo going for £8000 and a merc for £8000 your going to go with the merc arnt you

So I know this is an old vid, but let's say I was looking for a small van, I've driven the Renault Maxi Kangoo (The same but rebadged as Renault) and my question is: apart from the fancy screen and the badge, why would I go for the Merc instead of the Renault when the Renault is SO much cheaper?

Badge, and Merc have some mental leasing offers due to lower sales. Feels more premium as a Merc even though it’s the same, as if they finish it off better somehow.

What do you think of the Citan? Let me know in the comments.. :-)

It's reliable because it uses a Renault engine (yes, quite a few good engines do come out of France). Mercedes itself is not reliable at all.

+ast5515 engine wise or in general? I found many of the newer engines to be super bullet proof - including the ones they share with Infiniti etc.

Mostly electronics and transmissions. I don't have any experience with their engines, but they had some recalls from fuel lines literally exploding, transmissions shifting into first gear at 50 mph and up, etc. I simply don't trust them.
And the electronics... Oh, boy do they suck... A couple of examples:
2nd gen A-class: you have to take the car to the dealer to replace a damn light switch (which costs a third of the new price in a junkyard), because they have to reprogram it to work with your car. Makes sense, right?
S-class W221: Part of the rear lights is LED, another part is halogen. If the halogen bulb goes out, you need to buy a new light (for the price of about 1500 bulbs...). You can't replace bulbs individually. Makes sense, right?
Windows regulators, engine mounts all go bad.
All of these problems have been experienced by people I know who drive these piles of junk as their personal car or as a company car.
