- We hang out with Chris from Deviant Race Parts and help swap a Suncoast Duraflight 48re transmission into his race truck in his pursuit to break into the 9 second quarter mile times.
We discuss the pros and cons of the Allison transmission, along with the goals of his 1500+ Horsepower LB7 Duramax!

Notice they said “swapping” and not “upgrading.”
Interesting but for towing and reliability purposes I'll still stay with the 1000
Race truck stuff. Weight savings. Not for towing.
Iv never wanted more than my 48 towing. Then again having 1000 plus ft lbs from 1200 up lends to that opinion. Never had a reliability problem. After frying my original trans after 15k miles with a bit over 100 more hp than stock (all abused and towing) i havent had to think about my one and only 48 rebuild and i dont turn down when towing. The last thing im worried about in my 229k mile truck is the trans.
I understand why in this application there putting a 48re in but who swaps a 48re in over a Alison, and its a Duramax?
Truth be told 48re is better
48re is garbage, I've it an three Allison's. There's no way I'd switch to one from a Allison.
Congratulations on the swap. Question: If you are daily drag racing, why do you keep the mass of the 4x4 components?
Is that Suncoast plate to adapt the Chevrolet pattern to the 48re available? I can't find any record of it anywhere. Was it a 1-off just for this build?
Did this adapter plate not make it to market??? I can’t find one anywhere.
Don’t be cheap people buy impact sockets. No fun at the E.R. Getting chrome plating and metal fragments removed from your body.
Fix your oil leak, damn lmao
Every kid on the internet that screams "Allison swap it", needs to watch this video.
i was one of those kids at one point 🤣
How about if u wanna swap out an Allison 3000. Got any alternative for it?
A tip : watch series at Kaldrostream. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Briggs Tristan Yup, have been watching on KaldroStream for years myself :)
You just can't beat the 48RE transmission.. I just prefer the 48RE The alison can be a good transmission it's all about the money. and what you prefer I'm all about the Cummins .under the hood is a lot of room GMC- CHEVY has no room under the hood. Duramax drop the ball when all the diesel trucks come out it go's. Dodge, Ford- Gmc sorry but that's how it go's
48re just ain't got enough gears to play with. Allison 1000s are pretty stout transmissions as long as they're assembled right. Thinking about swapping a 1000 to my 460 Ford.
If you planing to race 48re all the long
Dude what’s up with the crazy colored under shirts lol
another man that wishes he had a 5.9 Cummins . 48RE .. haha..
No you don’t 48REs are trash behind a Cummins I have one an the transmission already needs a rebuild so I’m just gunna try to swap to something
@@JasonY02 You should just get it built by a place that actually knows what they are doing because a swap with almost anything will only hold less power.
Lol, besides the fact all the good shops are putting in Allison's now.
make sense
Allison only for towing not for speed
So u swapped a allison transmission for a 48re that one of the stupidest desisons you can make 47re an 48re are the worst transmission ever mayed expressly if you have a cummins
Auto correct could not
Was dumb 😂
Allison is the way to go.... good job in down grading... you dont know anything about durability
The 48re is capable of quicker shifts than an Allison, better for the dragstrip. Research it.
@@jonshro8485 them transmissions aren't worth a flip. No need to research something that I do on a daily basis
Jon Shro yea Joey is right 47RE is trash such a waste of money in repairs you literally how to drop the transmission pan ever fucking mile you go
Trust me a built 48re is a hell of a lot better then that fucking allison
@@joey2shots260 Right, that's why every 1/4 mile diesel race truck has an Allison in it... oh wait, they don't; *they all have a built 48re'* 🤯
Old junk flite against an Allison!?? Jesus no contest
