I have a copy of the Merchantville-Pennsauken Water Commission film from the same period if you would like it.

It would be nice to have this film professionally restored without the jumpy images and sound. Worth the money for this piece of history.

A neat film clip, although it sounds like the soundtrack / narration has been re-recorded lately. It looks like one of a series of local "Our Town" shorts produced for theatres in the 50's. They shot lots of silent footage and dubbed in the appropriate narration. I used to live a few houses up from the pumping station shown at 15:02, back around 1990. I loved my house then, but now the neighborhood (near Browning and River Roads) is nothing but a Camden outskirt. Just today someone was shot at 48th and Westfield, right up the street. Was a dream neighborhood 50 years ago, though......

Wow! Thanks this was interesting!! I enjoyed watching! Boy how times change!!!
I’ve lived here 29 years. Taxes are the highest anywhere for property we have I pay $5100. For my townhouse with barely a yard !! And we have TWO sewer bills!! Other towns don’t have that. And our water still smells! I’m not aware of anything they do for seniors! To drive around our cute little town, it looks pretty good. It’s sad that Pennsauken has a bad rap being so close to Camden. It’s sad. People are leaving NJ . I myself am looking to move out of state. To a state that caters to seniors!

Is that's the same pool on River road near Tippins pond? It looks like the same one I use to swim at in the late 60's - early 70's and is still there today. I like to see if some of those historic houses are still there and film them with one of my quads. I already filmed the old train bridge near the Betsy Ross bridge, next to the Pennsauken boat ramp.

That's it. Built in the 1930's as a Federal Public works program during the depression.
