Peggy Lee released Fever in June 1958; Elvis released his version sometime in 1960. NOBODY can do fever like Peggy Lee. She sizzled without even trying! WOW!
Amen Amen Amen 🙏🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
Even Madonna covered it in 1992. It's on her Erotica album.
"Is That All There Is" another masterpiece. From Peggy.
Amen
Sorry Little Willie John did it much better and he is the original singer of this song.
This lady's career spans 7 decades. She was a singer songwriter with a very sultry voice. She started during the big band era in the 40's. Lee provided the speaking & singing voices for several characters in the Disney movie "Lady & The Tramp" (1955). She also co-wrote, with Sonny Burke all of the original songs for the film including "He's A Tramp" & "Siamese Cat Song". Some of her other hits were "Is That All There Is" & "Big Spender etc.
'Is That All There Is' is another great hit by Peggy Lee.
Yes, that's a great song too!
Peggy Lee with the Benny Goodman orchestra 1943, "Why Don't You Do Right?" Is an amazing performance!
YES! She had a little smirk on her face like she was telling a sneaky dirty joke.
Ms. Peggy Lee was a very big star of the 1940's Big Band Era. The music was known as "Swing Music." It was an offshoot of Jazz. She sang for the best big bands of the 1940's such as...Glenn Miller, Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey and Swing king Benny Goodman and his orchestra.
This song "Fever" came out in (1958) and made her a legend. This song became one of the most iconic songs ever in music. With just a base and a snare drum play with just finger tips...The simplicity of the music, and smooth and sexy voice of Ms. Peggy Lee. Made this song a hit that many artists today are still performing it. It is one of those song that will never get old.
Great reaction as always...
Great reaction Shawn & Mel! Peggy Lee sure put the sizzle in her songs. You might like her cover of "Why Don't You Do Right" with The Dave Barbour Quartet from 1950. She is sassy, sultry and straight to the point on this one. And the Quartet just tears it up!
Peggy Lee and Billie Holiday had a mutual admiration society. She was an influence on Dusty Springfield and others.
Another great song choice! You guys are on fire! They don't make music like this any more.
They certainly don't ...
And it's never coming back. Now take a moment to thank Jehovah we actually lived during the time we did. Something special happened to us and no other generation can say the same.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 .. We have #FakeNEWS (journalists LIE!) #FakeACTORS (can't ad-lib!) and #FakeSINGERS (couldn't carry/hold a note if their very lives depended on it! Auto-tuning sucks!) today. I won't buy and/or listen to today's garbage they label as music.

Me neither. I'm shocked the direction our world 🌎 has taken. It's not what we envisioned but at least for the most part , the gems are being pushed forward by us.
OMGosh!! I have seen live performances of Ms Lee, younger and older and she is always so good and effortless. This song was and always will be straight 🔥🔥🔥
Kudos to the bass player and drummer!! 🎶🎵
Many have covered the song but it belongs to Peggy Lee. Once she recorded it, and had an enormous success with it, the tune became her signature song.
The Queen of Cool started singing with bands as a kid and fronted some of the best big bands back in the day.
What a reaction! Peggy Lee would love you two! 🥰
Brings back memories of my Dad. Every Sunday morning he'd wake my brothers and I up playing Peggy Lee Fever, Booker T & The MG's Green Onions and anything Pink Floyd or the Doors . It was his master plan to get us up early to mow the lawns and that's how I inherited his eclectic music tastes. RIP Dad.
Great reaction! If you want to really see Peggy Lee's talent, check out Disney's original version of "Lady and the Tramp". She did a lot of voice acting and songs for it. In fact, one of the pound dogs was named Peg in her honor. (Hint: She sings " He's a Tramp".) 🙂
Peggy had to take Disney to court because they didn’t pay her correctly for her part in the film and she won.
Peggy is a bit older in this clip. She goes back to the 50's/60's, I believe. Check some of her earlier stuff too. She is like the actress, Grace Kelly--sizzling on the inside, but more contained on the outside. Very seductive cause she keeps you guessing. Great reaction as always. Cheers from Canada
Think even the late1940s too.
She did her own arrangements, she wrote her songs. She was way ahead of her time.
original version by Little Willie John, Peggy covered at the same time and became a hit. Elvis covered it much later.
Peggy Lee was a '40s big band singer. There were a number of big band singers still recording in the '50s and '60s. Peggy Lee had that "whiskey" voice that was so sexy. Julie London was in the same class.
The song was originally done by "Little Willie John" -- also recommended...
As soon as people hear "Fever" they think of Peggy Lee even though it was first released in 1956. Peggy made it a hit in 1958 and that's the version I love the best - a slower tempo. Peggy's producers thought she was nuts when she only wanted a bass and drums to back her. She added the finger clicks and her tempo and the result was a massive hit for her 🖤
Peggy Lee also did the voice of Darling, Jim Dear's wife on Disney's Lady and the Tramp. Her music covered pop, jazz, big band and swing. Lee recorded over 1,100 masters and composed over 270 songs. Her first #1 hit came in 1942 with Somebody Else is Taking My Place.
A kind-hearted girl from North Dakota. Her parents worked on a local railroad line. And she occasionally helped out, in addition to do many of the farm chores at home. Worked her way up the ladder, from local radio to Chicago, NYC, and Hollywood. Looked after her [abusive] stepmother till 6:30 the stepmom passed away. In spite of Peggy's kindness, she was.... a party girl, all around. Rich life.
Isn't it just great that we can see all these gems from the past and appreciate them again, as they deserve to be appreciated, thanks to these reacters? Thanks, S. and M.
Shawn & Mel are the best, the coolest, & I seriously wanna hang out with them 🤩
And the. studio version is even more awesome
Lovely to see a couple enjoying music I essentially grew up with. A lot of what you are listening to and enjoying is music with soul, singers putting the emotion into their songs. And may I say it's nice to see reviewers really enjoying music and keeping time to the beat.
When I was little, my parents got some big band albums through a BBC fundraiser. Peggy Lee was on it singing Lover, another hot one from this classy lady. This performance is perfect!!! Thanks for sharing! 😽💋🎶
Little Willie John sang it originally. She actually recorded it slower and more sensually... was excellent . If you have time listen to her song Is That All There Is. The words hang so true 👍
Peggy had the major hit and Elvis covered it later.
Peggy Lee was smart, and only smart people get her. Thanks.
She wrote the verses about Romeo and Juliet and Pocahontas, and added them to the original song. She also wrote all the songs to Disney's Lady and the Tramp (the original cartoon version), voiced the part of Peggy the pekingese, and sang "He's a Tramp".
So glad you guys are opening your hearts to a wide variety of music! Music surely soothes the soul!
Look at this... stand-up bass, drums, and Peggy Lee...one of my pop's favorite all-time favorite singers. Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald...no ladies can touch them today!
I believe Peggy sang on the animated cartoon, Lady and the Tramp" one of my favorites!
That drummer is Wow !
Peggy Lee was my dad favorite singer. He passed 4 years ago now and I miss him everyday. She also did the voice over in Lady and the Tramp, she was the female dog that was in the pound, she's amazing even as a cartoon 😀
YES! That's the way to do it! Hopefuls for stardom pay attention to what she just did!
Hi, hey Elvis sang Fever too, in 1973 Aloha from Hawaii
Possibly the hottest song ever - and Peggy made it burn so gloriously!
I love your this reaction and find myself watching it over and over again.
This song was originally done by Little Willie John in 1956. It has been done by James Brown, Beyonce, Madonna and as a duet by Ray Charles and Natalie Cole as well as more than 50 others.
She did it I thought before 1958 I thought it was closer to late forties early 50. PS you guys are so cute together you're just an awesome couple, God bless
Slick big band sound, smooth big band singer.
This video you are seeing ---------is from the late 60's. Peggy was in her late 50's, she began her career in the late 30's, with various big bands. In the 40's, she became a solo act. This is arguably, her #1 hit song, from 1958. I was 11 y/o, heading to 12.
She owned that song. No one sang it better.
Peggy Lee had a huge hit with " Feaver ", but Little Willie John had the original...it's really worth a listen too...It's great old R & B.
She was also nominated for an Oscar for acting in Pete Kelly's Blues
I have always loved this song. It is a sexy song!!
Her 1945 version of September in the Rain, as a teenager, is sublime.
her originnal was her slow version and wow.
Peggy was the very definition of "cool."
she was HUGE in the '40's and '50's. also, in the walt disney cartoon movie "lady and the tramp" she sang the song, "he's a tramp" and voiced several characters.
Queen of cool!
Classy lady. Great reaction.
Miss Peggy Lee!
What a great reaction. Loved it.
Hot song and the epitome of a cool woman
This was originally done by recording artist Little Willie John (1956) for the R & B/POP charts. Peggy Lee did this jazzy version(1958), and Elvis Presley did it (1960). This is a faster rendition.
Thanks for the history !
She was a female coroner, called a 'torch singer'.
Peggy Lee was a guest musical star on the Muppets and killed it doing this song with the assistance of Animal on the drums
KD Lange said Peggy’s voice goes up and down the thermometer. Watch her life biography- crazy life.
If you have ever seen the Disney movie Lady and the Tramp then you will know Peggy's voice. Peggy played the character of Peggy the Pekingese in the pound and she also wrote or cowrote many of the songs. She also talks about Tramp by saying "What A Dog"
She was so hot. That voice.... There hasn't been a woman in the last 30 years that even comes close.
CLASS x3 !!!
Someone referred to her as the female crooner. Fitting I think.
I once did this song at karaoke. Big hit! Lol
The sexiest song EVER!
This live version is more uptempo than her original recording. Check out it's author's version, by Little Willie John...Robbie Robertson immortalized his name in his song, "Somewhere Down the Crazy River...Sitting in the backseat, listening to _____".
Fever or Chemistry creates love that can last a lifetime if you're lucky.
a true 10....no doubt
she uses a technique, I forget what it's called, but it's when you delay lyrics or say them in a casual or teasing way, so the listener is anticipating the the lyrics to come and ends up being more drawn into the song waiting for the lyric to come, it's very neat, I mean if most people try they'll just sound like the beat is too fast and the timing is off, but she's obviously very comfortable and it comes across really playful and fun
"Hey, Big Spender" by Ms. Lee next?. Hint. Hint...
cool as the other side of the pillow.
Al Green - For The Good Times [Video]
Sounds like "Wading in the Water" 😁👍
My favorite Peggy Lee song is Pass Me By.
She Fabulous! You have to hear Little Willie John version 😳he was endorsed by James Brown 😬
Sad there isn’t music liken this anymore. Rea talent. No auto tune or lip sync. Unlike today’s (artists)
Sultry, sexy and classy all rolled into one. Listen to her from Lady and the tramp! She lays on the sultry and sexy to a whole new level!!!
Peggy Lee wrote this song.
Peggy Lee gives you FEVER
Here's a wild fact Peggy Lee did The voice of Peg the dog on Lady and the Tramp Disney movie. And sang the song he's a tramp on the cartoon Lady and the Tramp. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
This IS Peggy’s song and no one can touch it, they try but she’s not to be duplicated.
You choose a path but like us your life will never be the same or your relationship because this, music will weave in and out through your life, challenging you, hurting you, making you feel hope, joy and laughter, which is a gift from Jehovah. And eventually wanting to help society and people not harm it. Shalom. Great reaction. Nice to hear this oldie again.
Peggy!! Haha.
Her voice is... sultry!
Talking about fever, how about "Fire", by the Pointer Sisters?
Huge in the 80s. Their song Neutron Dance was in the movie Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy.

I like the Smooth, sexy version that Elvis did 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
There is another black and white video that is a bit slower and sultry. You might want to find it, watch and listen. She is one of the best ever.
🔥🔥🔥!
You’d enjoy her singing “Black Coffee”.
Have you ever heard Pat Suzuki’s version? I think Pat probably was a Peggy fan.
