First timers, the one section he forgot to show is important if you don't know that the oil shoots out from the plug horizontally and doesn't pour out straight down. Make sure your pan is ready for that... And have plenty of kitty litter ready if you don't. Thanks for the great video... Except for that missing part.
Good vid sir, but you don't have to remove the larger shield guys. 👍🏿The smaller one that covers the oil filter, yes. The bigger shield, no; it does not obstruct that oil drain plug at all.
Excellent how to do it yourself video , if you bring this car to the dealership for an oil change at least one of those skid plates is not going back in the car , or tech will only use 2 bolts to hold them in place.
Danny P, I agree! My son and I both have 2017 Civic EXs. When mine is paid off next year, I’ll be looking for a ‘17 Accord Sport with the 2.4L i4 mated with the 6-speed manual...hopefully with relatively low miles. 😊
Hi everyone. How are these mechanically? Does anyone know these? The 2.0 turbo 10 speed. My 19 ilx is in for a new trans at 16 000k they gave me an rdx. 2.0 turbo 10 speed.
I own the identical Accord 2.0t as yours. The same color, same year and transmission. Please keep up the maintenance "how to" videos. Once again thank you for sharing your footage!
When I got mine (2020 2.0t) the warranty guy at the dealership told me that if I did my own oil changes it would void my warranty and repairs would have to be paid out of pock. Anyone know if this is true or did they just say that so I could get service done there at there dealership?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I also have 2019 2.0 turbo in a Touring so I called the Honda service dept and they said to change my own oil its just one panel to remove. Is this true?
@@IRWAutomotive Thanks for your quick reply and you make a good point about an auto vs manual. By the way I am jealous that you have the manual must be a blast with this 2. 0. Good luck to you!
From all my research and that's a lot honest it is limited to the US Honda CRV with 1.5 turbo, the Civics in US not problem China yes. I bought a 2020 Honda Accord 2.0 turbo with 10 speed and you have to remember this is the detuned Civic Type R racing engine which has won many awards not your regular 1.5 turbo Accord no. Search YT on Civic Type R racing engine this is not the 1.5 turbo and the oil dilution problem is limited to the Northeastern US where people drive very short distances without warming up engine that's when there is a problem and on the CRV 1.5 turbo not the Civic Type R engine.
@@aidanobrien538 If you're oil level stays normal and just SMELLS gassy I wouldn't really worry about it. All engines have fuel/oil dilution to some extent especially GDI engines.
What ramps did you use and did your bumper drag on it at all? I'm going to have to buy new ramps as mine have an angle of approach that is too high. Thanks!
When putting the new filter on, did you use the oil filter wrench again? Or did you just tighten the new oil filter by hand? And B) how tight should the oil drain plug be? It did not look like you tightened it very much. Thanks!
@@f150sbcglobal It'll leak. But not profusely. I bought like 10 gaskets for like $6 at the dealer. I know from experience, it's a really thin synthetic oil.
I guess the location and way to access to the draining plug are pretty much identical whether it is 10 speed auto or manual, as far as 2 litre engines go. I only know it takes 5 quarts for manual transmission but you have to refer the owner's manual for correct amount of oil

You're absolutely right about the drain plug orientation, every Honda I've serviced is the same way

Good vid sir, but you don't have to remove the larger shield guys. 👍🏿The smaller one that covers the oil filter, yes.

Adding a little fresh oil to the filter before you screw it on helps ensure complete lubrication on startup.
That's what I always do.
Where do you add fresh oil to the filter?
@@louyht7 In the hole, plus wipe a bit on the rubber gasket.

In the manual of my 21 2.0 t it states 5.1 quarts not 5.0.
These Hondas are beautiful! I have a Civic and my mom has a 2018 Accord

Cool. Wasn't explained in the video. Does anybody know how many foot pounds you tighten it or inch pounds excuse me
Nice color of your Accord! Nice video too. Just did my 2019 2.0t oil change. This is a lot easier than some of my other Honda cars. Good job man!
can you please do a transmission fluid change? thank you in advance

Don't need to remove any shields to remove/install the filter and drain the old oil
Really that make the job easier
do you have a video on transmission fluid change?
please do a manual transmission fluid change

warranty guy is full of shit
2.0t, the only way to fly. The dipstick is so hard to read on this engine, it's the only thing I don't like about it.
I noticed u have oil dripping???
Do one for transmission oil
Won't be able to, transmission oil doesn't get changed very frequently and most dealers would flush it using a recommended maintenance schedule.
yes please do a transmission fluid change
So changing transmission oil and manual oil is different?
geez why didn't they build in an access hole for the drain plug ?? Great video ....
Good video quality and easy instruction too. thanks!
Thank you for the great video sir very informative.

Might be true for the automatic transmission model, don’t know for sure.

You'll have both panels to remove just like in the video. One small one covering the oil filter and the large one covering the oil drain plug.
@@ScagsWH13 Thanks for your help.

How reliable are the 2.0? I know I spoke to a Honda advisor and all they said was that it was too new 🙈
Great video bro, but I thought it use synthetic oil? Hmmm........
The box is marked Mobil 1 Full Synthetic.
I hate to ask, but have you noticed any form of oil dilution?

True, just a little concerning when there’s a class action in Canada for this problem with 1.5 accord and crv
Exactly how much oil are using to refill? The official Honda hand book states"3.7 liters"
3.7 is the capacity for the 1.5 engine. The 2.0 takes 5.0 quarts, not sure exactly how that converts to liters
NOT A FAN OF SCREWS TO GET TO OIL AND FILTER, IF THEY GET RUSTY HAVE FUN GETTING THEM OFF, BOLTS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER U CAN GET A RACHET ON THEM!

OEM jack should work without need for jack stand.

What size oil filter did you use? I have a 19 accord
depends on the brand, if you go to walmart they have a computer that will match up filter to ur car.
Always use honda oem. They are 8.00 n change
Always use OEM (factory Honda) filter and nothing else!
DO YOU REALLY NEED TO REPLACE GASKET ON DRAIN PLUG??????????

what are the underbody panels there for as I see most newish cars have them now?
Aero (lower drag), for better fuel efficiency, especially at higher speeds.

Wow they really do this on purpose so you take it to the dealer I would not put the stupid engine plastic on forget that
Does this bottum engine pan cover apply to the 1.5 accord also?
Just the smaller cover. Not the second larger cover.
