I can say, with a lot of experience and having had my M340i touring two weeks - this is THE best car I have ever had - including several audis (includng the beast RS4 saloon) and a chipped biturbo A6. Literally just ordered a M340i Touring to replace my 3 year old 340i Touring. Loved the 340i so am so looking forward to the M-lite version. Just to pick up what Joe was saying. I was debating whether or not to go for an M4 Competition, luckily my local dealer had a rather nice M4 comp and I got to spend a few hours with it, then took an M340i saloon out and the performance difference on a public road was not very great, but the comfort of the M340 was far superior. The M4 was tiring to drive whereas the M340i was relaxing and comfortable but a hooligan when you wanted it to be. In my opinion, a full M car is a second car to be used on sunny days, but I couldn't use it as a daily driver, the M340i can be all things to all people. Well done BMW. Oh, and I specced mine up and still managed to get it for a shade under £50k.

That was pretty annoying, but it gave me time to reconsider, and as I was about to reorder I saw Joe's first M340i review. That piqued my interest, I had a drive in the M340i the next day, loved it and ordered it within the hour. Like you say it is nearly as fast, but far easier to live with day to day. Hi Joe fantastic review, had been looking for a tourer too replace my st3 estate which was written off by a rear end shunt. Having watched your reviews I managed to track a 340i xdrive in tanzanite blue to a bmw dealer. It was a 2019 model, new spec, and only 2000 miles on the clock. Hey Joe.... Strange question. You once did a vid with an alpina d3 Touring rwd with rear diff. Wich one would you prefer as family car? Thé older Alpina d3 rwd with diff. or thé newer m340i xDrive? 😁

Great video as always Joe... I’ve had 3 Mlites in the last 6years. Currently M140i, ZF8 Motech edition. How does the M340i stack up against the 1er? Handling, refinement and performance? Given your huge audience of mliters it would be super helpful if you covered the comparison in your videos as it’s pretty much the natural step up. I’m waiting with much anticipation for the new M440i.
Hey Harry, hope you're well mate! Yeah I genuinely think this is the next natural step from any M140 owners, it handles as well, it handles slightly better than a 140, especially this time of year, it's far more refined and feels slightly quicker in a straight line (especially in these current damp/cold conditions). I would love to do a comparison video soon. Cheers
Joe Achilles Good man, a comparison video would be a big hit on here. Side by acceleration test, the lot! :) M440i, motech stance and a JB+ would be a 🍑 of daily! 👌

Hey Joe, might not be an apples to apples comparison, but I'm curious to get your opinion since you drove both: the new M340i or Stelvio Quadrifoglio and why. Keep up the great content! Much appreciated!
Amazing car, joe I think you are right, these are sexier than the saloon and out of the choice of both I would choose this, but if I could only have the saloon then I wouldn't be too disappointed either.
Thanks for the video Joe! 🙏🏻 It’s a colour I was curious about and I like it very much! It’s impressive how it changes hues depending on the light conditions, going from warmer champagne-like beige to colder silver... I’m speccing the new coming M340D Touring and I think Oxide Grey is gonna be my choice ! Obviously with Pano roof and Merino leather 😉
Great video again Joe. I’m considering moving from my M4 Comp to a M340i x-drive touring. I’m after more comfort for a long drive to Europe & still a fun car over a Scottish back road. For almost the same price I could pick up a nearly new 840d coupe. If cost was no issue & you had a choice. I know you have driven both. Do you feel a M340 xdrive would be more fun over a back road than a 840d coupe? Also would a 840d be much more comfortable on a drive to say Germany than a M340i x-drive? I realise I’m comparing a coupe to a tourer however I think either car might suit me. Any thoughts would be appreciated:-)
Is it just me/my eyes, or does the interior of your test car look like an orange/tan color in your driving video, but lipstick red in your stationary footage of the interior? I love this car in this color too. Great review, Joe! Thank you!
It makes me really mad that this model isn't coming to America. I'm picking up my m340 Monday but if they were going to drop the wagon here is have waited for it
I wanted to get the G21 wagon and went to drive it. But my G31 wagon was jut a tad more refined to drive. Once you had a 5 series its hard to move back to the 3. Great car. Good review. I think my next wagon will be the B5 Alpina wagon.

If I wasn't lucky enough to get to drive so many cars, I would probably trade the M2C for one, but in my current situation a manual M2C is exactly what I crave for on weekends 😉
Yes, your M2C is a lovely change to most other sports cars out there. Great video keep up the good work, and I look forward to another interview on your other channel 😀
Great review Joe, I love the BMW Tourings and the 340i is a pretty awesome package! Just liked my own comment! I’m rewatching this video for the 2nd time. I’m loving the 340i Touring, I’m going to order one once were out of self isolation.
Awesome video. Have you driven the F31 340i? I run one of those and wonder how the handling differs... Keep 'em coming! Really good content on this channel!
Think these are great, good to see BMW taking it to Audi S. The M-lites have a place at BMW, obviously not full M but from what I’ve owned and had the chance to drive they’re pretty special compared even compared to previous flagships from the lines. I doubt we would have seen nearly 400bhp in 340i unless it was differentiated from the standard line up.
Hey Joe, great vids. What would you rather have, this M340i Touring or an X3 M Comp? :-) I’m departing both but leaning toward the Touring, or maybe wait for the M3 Touring :)
I will just tell you this... I live in the U.S. and I REALLY WANT THIS CAR! But I don't know of many people who like wagons out here. Most people are going for crossovers and mid sized SUVs. I still want one, like really bad haha.
This is a great car! Compared to an SUV I just don't like the body movement and head toss you get in an SUV and the BMW Touring is far more practical in the load area than a stacked to the roof SUV. I have a Dravit Grey 330i M Sport sedan and love it. You must have had the gesture control turned off otherwise it would have been going crazy with your hand and arm movements.
Great vid Joe! Totally agree best all rounder in the market 👍 quick question why do you buy your tyres from Slades garage? I thought that was just a dealership?
Interior is not a colour I would choose, but it still looks nice....although I dont think I'll be chopping my 335d xdrive in for one anytime soon. Mine has more than enough balls!
Hey Joe when you tested the X3M did you have the tyres inflated for partial load or full load?... full load being 3.0 bar all round and partial 2.3 bar? From factory they come inflated for full load

Ordered the new Audi S4 Avant a couple of months back (delivers in March), but this looks a beauty. Maybe next time! :)
Why no scuff plate for the rear doors? That's odd.
Amazing car, and the perfect daily driver. I hate SUV's, and drive a touring myself, and would love this one, it's awesome.
Stelvio is roughly the same weight as the M340i touring. :)
Hey Joe, might not be an apples to apples comparison, but I'm curious to get your opinion since you drove both: the new M340i or Stelvio Quadrifoglio and why. Keep up the great content! Much appreciated!
Fingers crossed this comes to Australia!
Amazing car, joe I think you are right, these are sexier than the saloon and out of the choice of both I would choose this, but if I could only have the saloon then I wouldn't be too disappointed either.
I like red leather but when he went in the back it looked very red dunno if was the light
Thanks for the video Joe! 🙏🏻
It’s a colour I was curious about and I like it very much!
It’s impressive how it changes hues depending on the light conditions, going from warmer champagne-like beige to colder silver...
I’m speccing the new coming M340D Touring and I think Oxide Grey is gonna be my choice !
Obviously with Pano roof and Merino leather 😉
Best looking wagon by far, just a little to much badges around.
I was thinking about getting a 3 series but I have a concern. Is it possible to put both hands on the steering wheel at the same time?
Is it just me/my eyes, or does the interior of your test car look like an orange/tan color in your driving video, but lipstick red in your stationary footage of the interior? I love this car in this color too. Great review, Joe! Thank you!
Wish we had it in the USA!
Such a nice car, if I had a family I would buy one in a heartbeat. Here’s hoping the 440i looks better than the renders...
Yeah keen to see what it actually looks like...
Me too, I currently have an 18 plate M440i and am looking forward to seeing the new 4
@@Daniel189HLL Mmmmmm Mattersons440i?
Absolute dream car!
Is there going to be a replacement for the 335d touring?
It makes me really mad that this model isn't coming to America. I'm picking up my m340 Monday but if they were going to drop the wagon here is have waited for it
Joe, nothing wrong about being BMW bias. I used to be that way about VW and then I brought an F11 525d, grew up, and never looked back....
I wanted to get the G21 wagon and went to drive it. But my G31 wagon was jut a tad more refined to drive. Once you had a 5 series its hard to move back to the 3. Great car. Good review. I think my next wagon will be the B5 Alpina wagon.
Joe, what tires are the most perfect for bumpy roads for a 120d ar a 420d ?
We would 100% love these in the US. Bring them to us BMW please!!
Joe thanks for this excellent review - between you and Matt Carwow, convinced me to get this one. Ordered yday , Dravit grey comfort plus tech plus visibility pack shadowline plus with sunroof.I think I ticked all the possible boxes . Farewell to my F10 M5😞 but hopefully this will be 🙂if not 🤓 look forward to more great reviews and a good 2021🙂👍
Oh yes agree - BMW should pay you , where’s your commission 🧐🤨😀
How does it compare to your old M5?
Great looking car, this colour looks really drab compared to the Verde Ermes version, but i love green cars.still no non-leather seats though! WHY?
What a car!!! Do you think you will ever get one Joe?
If I wasn't lucky enough to get to drive so many cars, I would probably trade the M2C for one, but in my current situation a manual M2C is exactly what I crave for on weekends 😉
Yes, your M2C is a lovely change to most other sports cars out there. Great video keep up the good work, and I look forward to another interview on your other channel 😀
Wow the individual paint and interior trim combo, prefer to an Alpina green wagon 3 series
Great review Joe, I love the BMW Tourings and the 340i is a pretty awesome package! Just liked my own comment! I’m rewatching this video for the 2nd time. I’m loving the 340i Touring, I’m going to order one once were out of self isolation.
Just a shame that we don't get it here in South Africa, only the sedan model but I love BMW'S in general
we want this....IN THE STATES!!!
Awesome video. Have you driven the F31 340i? I run one of those and wonder how the handling differs... Keep 'em coming! Really good content on this channel!
stijndw20 s
What a nice car, I like the colour combination, with the silver and red interier .👍
Great review JA, shame we don’t get this version in Oz, only get rear drive 330i touring
Will they build an M performance exhaust fir these like the M140 joe ?
the silver trims looks out of place with the red.. piano black would be better
Interior is not a colour I would choose, but it still looks nice....although I dont think I'll be chopping my 335d xdrive in for one anytime soon. Mine has more than enough balls!
This sounds so much better than 340D
Do you know when the 330e touring orders are being taken for the UK?
Hey Joe when you tested the X3M did you have the tyres inflated for partial load or full load?... full load being 3.0 bar all round and partial 2.3 bar? From factory they come inflated for full load
Nice car, the cerium grey design element looks crappy on most other paints but it works on this car!
Great sleeper I love it
