Yes but with this heat who wants the light especially when it comes in directly from sunlight that heats up your house and your air conditioning takes a lot more energy it stays on longer
@@janiereyes4579 - light helps with depression and also by not having windows covered, there is a view night/day. I would rather be able to see out my window 🪟 than be encased inside by overgrowth.

But some of do prefer the shade and darkness provided by trees, we are the vampires of the world, so I appreciated at least one comment acknowledging the loss of natural shade.

I started working on some big landscape projects around my house, actually started last year but it’s going to be several year projects but I am reducing my landscaping I’m taking out two trees and shrubs and other perennials so my goal is to as I age which I am not to have as much to do and what I do have to make them more compact and not needing trimming and such to the least of the degree I am doing it while I still can and I’m also am hiring out some of that but that’s my Goal

Love that cleanup. Now existing plants can get some breathing room. Some nice perennial flowers would be great to fill in the spaces. The mulch, just icing on the cake.

As an older lady myself let me tell you thank you for such a nice thing....and the landscaping looks so much nicer. The owner is not going to know how to handle all the extra light she will be getting now that so much overgrown bits is gone!! I know she is one happy customer!
Great job! For safety purposes I would have cut back the big reddish bush in the front flower bed a lot more. You don't want to leave an area where thieves can easily hide especially since the lady is elderly. But God will bless you for being so generous.

Nice thought to work on the overgrowth factor. Restoring balance and use will bring good cheer. Excellent to recognize the front had no longer become safe to use or workable. Enjoying watching you sort what has reached maximum growth, which are seed plants and inappropriate, etc., how to renew form, what changes to make. Anyone faced with an "overgrown" garden has to learn to recognize and do those things. Your marvelous crew are helping. This is actually a great teaching video. Glad you made it. What amazing work! We just moved into our house and not sure what to put in my flower beds. This makes me want to keep it limited for easy maintenance.
You thought of a good point. Sometimes a few accents are far better than a large area to maintain.
That was the plan here. I feel like it turned out great.
I agree. I put in mostly flowering shrubs. I chose ones that don't get too large, and I put them where they can grow to their full size so I don't need to prune them. It's all in the planning.

Looked like prime hiding spots for snakes, spiders and wasps! When I moved into my house last year there were two big boxwoods in front, right by my front steps and I always saw spiders in them. I wanted flowers there so I cut around the roots with a reciprocating saw and yanked them out with my truck! When I went to undo the strap from the first plant I counted 17 spiders running up the side of my house 😳, not to mention the countless ones fleeing across the ground!
