I like how you can still hear the rear differential humming on these CEs when the bus is moving. You can hear it at 10:27 and better at 10:49 - 10:57 when he slows down
Very nice! Can't wait until I can drive one of these babies! Seems a little slower than the diesel version though :(. The company I currently work for has bluebirds with the gas/propane 6.8L v10's in them, which will outrun any diesel international, so this is definitely a step back in speed from the looks of it.
These have much more torque from a stop than any diesel engine would because there's no turbo lag or horsepower to build. It's capable of producing more, but it's tuned down in the interest of not draining the battery down.
This is actually faster than the diesel version especially since it doesn’t have low horsepower. Plus with electric you only have one rear axle ratio option since there’s no transmission which can be a pro. Choosing the wrong axle ratio can really negatively affect engine performance. With this bus that isn’t a concern since they all have the same axle optimized for takeoff power.
Good choice to stay with CNG. Our electric school bus fleet of eLion, blue bird and Thomas either are out of service or sending out to Cummins/blue bird shops.

It’s 2023, all new buses regardless if it’s gas or electric, should have the digital gauge cluster. They can find a way to program it…
I agree what's with the analogs.
They still use the standard cluster because It can be a distraction for drivers. Some new buses might have it
Nice walkaround video of the IC CE Electric School Bus bro
Pretty amazing technology inside the new IC-CE Electric model, I like how everything looks. One thing they haven't changed is the loud turn signal! 😂
Quick question, how do you get the lamp check to work if there's no switch for the overhead clearance lights?
The headlight switch and lamp check switches are on the right side panel on the EV's.
I remember having a dream where you cold started that CAT 3116 powered TC2000 RE a while back.
I actually like this thing! It’s pretty sick, wish we didn’t get just Bluebird! I wonder how it’d hold up in NY’s winters haha.
*b a d*
Nice video and thorough explanation! Seems like it has pretty good get you and go which I’d like that!
Awesome video my friend
My First Student location in NY is looking to get these into service after July of 2024

I don't know if you have heard but they are using Bendix intelipark parking brakes on these buses
Good job with your school bus videos bro.
3 times the cost of a Cummins Power bus, plus can’t wait to see it perform in the North East on a 0 degree weather.
cry all you like, diesel is getting phased out.
That's why my district decided against EV and went with CNG. I live in Northeast PA. Our transit authority also bought a bunch of CNG Gilligs.
@@smorris281 Your district should have purchased them 10 years ago. 10 years from now they will be restricted.
Nice
I'm from the future 4 months ahead to be exact and the 3rd gen CE is already out making the 2nd gen CE obsolete.
Pretty cool 2023 electric IC CE there n is that your bus, Kodie S?
Not mine, no. Just a demo bus.
If they make the bus streamlined, it will certainly improve its range. This is a square box with way too much air resistance.
Engine?
electric
All the way in the back, directly connected to the rear wheels
when is the new CE happening? My district might switch back, most likely
Next gen CE's are being built later this summer. All diesels ordered from now on are the new chassis.
It looks beautiful and cool)
I would love to try this
My district floated the idea of EV buses, but they settled on CNG instead. Still way cheaper than diesel.

Wheres the Air conditioner system?
It's optional...
Dana TM4 SUMO MD powertrain
Oh...
I expected a "Cuuuuuute" not an "Oh..."
@Kodie S Well, ya know, it's been a while, so I gotta work back up to that level of excitement, I guess.
