    For more about Dr. Prasad's training and background, please go to:
    nyhairloss.com/about-us/
    A 20-year-old man says he started losing hair at 17, and he now has a clear bald spot on the left and right said of his head. He asks if he should have a follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant, or hair weaving. He wants to gain his hair back in a safe way.
    New York hair restoration specialist Amiya Prasad, MD explains what he can do at his age where few men are experiencing hair loss, but is also a time where hair transplants cannot replace hair fast enough as hair loss at this age is fast and aggressive:
    1:06 - Dr. Prasad’s background training and experience in surgical and non-surgical hair loss treatment, including the founding of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration Centers that specialize in a non-surgical hair loss treatment
    1:55 - How this man is likely dealing with genetic pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia
    2:03 - How early onset at a young age is not unusual, but most men his age are not suffering from hair loss, as male hair loss follows the Rule of Decades, where 20% of men in their 20s have hair loss, 30% of men in their 30s suffer from hair loss, etc.
    2:17 - How he has an early onset of hair loss with a rapid progression
    2:29 - How current medical therapies available for him include finasteride which is an oral pill taken daily, and Rogaine (minoxidil) which is a topical solution or foam
    2:40 - How when he asks about safety, he is likely referring to the sexual side effects linked to finasteride, and the relatively minor side effects of minoxidil like scalp irritation
    2:59 - How Dr. Prasad developed an alternative hair loss treatment called Hair Regeneration that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and the wound healing material Acellular matrix
    3:19 - How platelet-rich plasma consists of a patient’s own blood, and is a concentration of wound healing and growth factors used to heal things like cuts
    3:35 - How this treatment was first used to improve the healing and survival of hair grafts and the hair donor area in hair transplant surgery, but it was also observed that thinning hair became thicker
    4:00 - How it was found that the treatment alone used on people with thinning hair resulted in better hair coverage and results than a hair transplant surgery
    4:20 - How the trauma of implanting hair grafts in hair transplant surgery can cause loss of existing hair
    4:40 - How Dr. Prasad has achieved a success rate with Hair Regeneration of over 99% with men and women of all ages, starting with patients as young as 18
    4:55 - How the Hair Regeneration treatment is injected throughout the scalp, which stops the progression of hair loss, regrows hair that has stopped growing, and cause thinning hairs to grow back thicker
    5:16 - How Dr. Prasad has over 5 years of data of patients who were followed up every three months to record results of the treatment and improvement of their hair density
    5:32 - How Hair Regeneration has been a great option for people without using drugs or surgery, and with better and more consistent results
    5:40 - How this man should look into this option or a similar treatment as time is important to get maximum results
    6:00 - How Hair Regeneration works in a unique way from, and can exceed the results of pharmacologic options
    6:16 - How Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment, and in some patients a second treatment is done after 12-18 months, and can sustain results for years, which is unparalleled by any other hair loss treatment

    Hi doctor , I am 25 and I think my hair has been thinning for past 4 years continuously.I was going through light hair loss but then I suffered through an accident 4 years ago and as a recovery process I had to take steroid injections to manage my keloids. Since then my hair thinning has intensified. My crown and temple are somewhat partially exposed coz of thin hair. I think it’s pattern baldness probably. Apart from using DHT blocker I am interested in this hair regeneration (PRP + Acell) treatment that you are talking about in your video. How can I get it done and is it available in India ?

    Hi doctor, I was wondering if hair regeneration treatment requires multiple follow ups to maintain the results, or the use of minoxidil. Or are the results long term?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 года назад +3

      Hi A F,
      TrichoStem Hair Regeneration only takes 1-2 treatment sessions, with second treatment done 15-24 months after the first to thicken fine hair growth stimulated by the first treatment. We do follow up with patients every 3-6 months to monitor results, but this can be done in our offices, or online. Results last 3-5 years. All our patients can stop using minoxidil completely after the treatment, but men with high DHT-sensitivity will still need a DHT-blocker like finasteride for best and longest lasting results. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi Dr Prasad,
    Thankyou for a very informative video! I live in Australia. Do you know if the regeneration technique is done by anyone here? Thanks!

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 лет назад +5

      Hi James Walker,
      I'm glad the video helped you. I'm not aware of practices in Australia offering this treatment, but it is commonly referred to as PRP + ACell. It is important to note that not all PRP and ACell treatments are the same, even if they sound like they used the same ingredients. Extracellular matrix by ACell is a difficult material to work with, especially for hair loss treatment. You have to look at how many treatments are needed, if boosters or additional treatments are needed, how long the treatment is effective for, and most importantly, you need to see pictures from doctor showing the actual results of their treatment.
      We also do have patients coming in for treatment from Australia, and recently New Zealand. Since it is a one-time, non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time and in most cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. I hope this helps you.

I'll even go as far to say when I grow my hair out it's hard to tell I have this problem. But once I try to get a little trim at the barber shop, the hairs are so weak, they fall back off. I'm 28 years old from Harlem, Ny. I work at Sloan Kettering... Would you recommend this treatment for me? Or would I need a more servere case of hair loss? Please help! Hello sir, I know this might seem really unusual but I am 13 years old and I am noticing a little bit of thinning hair in my temples and crown and a little bit above my forehead. I've also been noticing falling hair, around 20 hairs in the shower drain, but more that I can't see every morning. I've been noticing this for around 1 month since last year. Am I actually balding or what is going on and what should I do?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 лет назад +5

      Hi TBD,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. You are too young for pattern hair loss, so I strongly advise that you see a doctor to diagnose any cause. I can't determine the cause from your question alone.
      Please note that it is normal to shed 50-100 per day, and that the hair grows back. Hair loss happens when the hair grows back thinner and thinner until it disappears.
      If you are still worried, see a doctor as soon as you can, and consider having biopsies done to determine the cause of your hair thinning. Best of luck with your diagnosis.

      Hi Theradome,
      Male pattern hair loss is genetic, and affects about 20% of men in their 20s. Thinning hair is not about safety or nutrition. Male pattern hair loss cannot be prevented, but it can be managed, and it is more effectively managed the sooner it's treated. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi and thank you for your video. I'm currently taking dutasteride and rogaine pm. My question is if I take PRP as you explain in the video, will I have a better outcome with the three therapies working together or it's just too much? Thank you for your answer

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Daniel Cornejo,
      Our Hair Regeneration patients can stop minoxidil, or wean off it to prevent sudden hair shedding. Depending on your age and age of onset of hair loss, you would continue with dutasteride after the Hair Regeneration treatment. Hair Regeneration is not PRP alone, but a extracellular matrix as the main ingredient that is activated by PRP. Younger male Hair Regeneration patients who started pattern hair loss in their 20s do need a DHT-blocker because they have high DHT-sensitivity, but male patients not as DHT-sensitive, as those who started losing hair in their 40s or older, may not need a DHT-blocker after the Hair Regeneration treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 года назад

      Hi suman tamang,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. A proper examination and diagnosis is needed as male pattern hair loss occurs at the top of the scalp, frontal hairline, temples, and crown, and not on the sides of the head. It is also unusual that one side is thinning more than they other. You indicate anxiety and stress, which can contribute to temporary hair shedding. I can't recommend specific treatment for you until the cause of your hair loss is certain. I hope this helps you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Arjun Soni,
      Sorry to hear that, but that's why I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older Hair Regeneration patients don’t need maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride can concurrently help younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely.

I have tried many products till now be it regular hair oil, special hair oil , hair serums , hair tonics , tablets , homeopathic medicine but nothing seems to be working on me. Dr Prasad, do you recommend going the medical route first before getting the acelular matrix treatment? or is it best to start with your treatment first before trying minoxidil and finasteride? And how do you know if you're a suitable candidate for medical treatment?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  4 года назад

      Hi Hayden Dunstan,
      A medical examination is needed first to determine if you have male pattern hair loss. Finasteride is meant to slow hair thinning due to scalp DHT-sensitivity in men, but it has a limited effect on thickening thinning hair. Finasteride is still prescribed for men who undergo the Hair Regeneration treatment, especially younger men who are highly DHT-sensitive, as the Hair Regeneration treatment is not a DHT-blocker. While some men choose to have the Hair Regeneration treatment without a DHT-blocker, it may not last as long, such as 1-2 years instead of 3-5 years. However, all Hair Regeneration patients can stop using minoxidil, or never have to start using minoxidil. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi farazqureshi14,
      The video and its thumbnail does show how the Hair Regeneration treatment can stimulate hair growth from dormant hair follicles and thicken thinning hair at the hairline and temples. The treatment can last 3-5 years for the majority of patients from only 1-2 treatment sessions, but younger male patients with higher DHT-sensitivity may not have the same longevity of effectiveness. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jerri McLaughlin,
      Sorry to hear about your grandson's problem. Male pattern hair loss is progressive, and not sudden, so it is important to have the cause of hair loss diagnosed before considering treatment. If male pattern hair loss starts in the 20s or younger, high DHT-sensitivity is likely, and a DHT-blocker like finasteride is needed to control it, and to slow hair thinning. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. While this treatment is not available in Massachusetts, any experienced doctor in your area can diagnose your grandson and prescribe a DHT-blocker. I hope this helps you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад +14

      Hi King Jagat Kshetri kalaay,
      Shaving your head will not protect from pattern hair loss, or thicken hair. Male pattern hair loss is associated with genetics, and the genetic predisposition to have a scalp sensitivity to the male hormone DHT. Since pattern hair loss is hardwired into DNA, it can't be cured, but it can be managed to make thinning hair as thick as possible, for as long as possible. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi slyfy,
      The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles. At your age, you should also consider a DHT-blocker like finasteride because you are likely sensitive to it if you are a man with thinning hair in his 20s. A treatment plan can be discussed and recommended during a physical exam to help manage pattern hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Lava,
      Sorry, but the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment is only available in our offices in the US. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. Finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning, and it can be used long-term more predictably. You can refer to these videos about the limits of minoxidil, the importance of finasteride, how we can go beyond finasteride alone in increasing scalp coverage, and why our TrichoStem Hair Regeneration patients don't need to use minoxidil after our treatment:

    What if one was to have FUE treatment and also have hair regeneration done, wouldn't this prevent further hair loss and prevent the hair behind the donor area from coming out?
    Thanks

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 лет назад +3

      Hi Joe Brenchley,
      Not getting a hair transplant before age 30 is a recommendation shared by most hair transplant surgeons who know people with early and rapid hair loss progression will need multiple hair transplants, without great results as hair continues to thin until the donor area is exhausted.
      What I would do in the situation you describe is do the Hair Regeneration treatment first, so we stop hair loss progression, and thicken and save all the hair we can. If you still want more density, then a transplant can be better strategically planned to maximize each hair graft in areas most in need of it. Remember that donor hair is a finite resource.
      It is important to note that most Hair Regeneration patients who come in wanting a hair transplant choose not to go ahead with transplant surgery after they see the results of Hair Regeneration. We could still go ahead with a transplant for areas where the hair follicles are no longer viable, and maximize the amount grafts you have for those areas. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi ur real dad,
      Sorry to hear about your problem, which does sound unusual as the hair on the side of the head is genetically resistant to hair thinning, while the hair at the hairline and top of the scalp are more prone to genetic pattern thinning. Hi George Johnson,
      I would need to examine your scalp before determining if it's right for you. Usually men your age are prescribed finasteride with this treatment as the injection treatment is not a DHT-blocker. The risk of side effects from finasteride is only 2%, so it's very rare, and I would have to examine your scalp before considering TrichoStem Hair Regeneration as a standalone treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Roman Duh,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. It is not possible to tell from your question alone, and a physical exam, and perhaps a biopsy, are needed for a diagnosis. You are too young for pattern hair loss. I advise you see a hair restoration doctor or a dermatologist in your area for a proper exam and diagnosis. Best of luck with your diagnosis.

      You need to see a doctor to examine your scalp. It may be temporary hair shedding due to stress called telogen effluvium. Genetic pattern hair loss is causes by genetics, not by sex or masturbation, but it can be from genetics from several generations on both sides of your family, so you really need to see a doctor to diagnose it. • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Nayan S,
      Handstands or headstands do increase blood flow to the scalp temporarily, but won't stop hair loss or regrow hair. The primary cause of male pattern hair loss is the hormone DHT, which is in the blood. Everyone has DHT in their blood, but people with pattern hair loss have a genetic sensitivity to DHT in their hair follicles. The Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video can restart the healthy hair growth process that was affected by DHT. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Dinesh Bagwe,
      The fine hairs may be ones you didn't notice before called vellus hairs, which are basically baby hairs that were always fine, and will remain so. Minoxidil doesn't actually cause new hair to grow, or thicken hair,but delays the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects.

Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in most cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. If that's not the cause of your hair loss, then a proper examination is needed to determine the cause because hair loss shouldn't only affect one side of the head. I hope this helps you.

    Hello sir, I am 16 years old and I noticed that my hair was on my left temple/corner was slightly thinner than the right side 1 year ago when I was 15. Since then, it has progressed slowly and I can now notice the thinning on my right temple as well. My hairline is straight across but my temples are becoming angled. I also have baby hairs at the corners as my hairline was circular has a kid, and now it is straight across. Even if I were to lose these thin hairs at the temples my hairline will still be straight across and would look like similar to Justin Timberlake and Jordan Barrett where it is straight across with angled temples. Many guys in my school have thin temples and many have developed angled temples. Is it a maturing hairline or receding hairline? My family history of hairloss is decent, my Maternal grandpa has a full head of very thick hair and he is around 80 years old and my Maternal uncles have full heads of hair at 50, my paternal grandfather had a straight across hairline at 30 and kept his hair till he was 40 or 50. My father naturally had a big forehead and his hairline like an inverted u and he started thinning in his mid 30s. Please tell me if my situation is normal and how likely I am to go bald in my 20s.

    Does the hair regeneration treatment that you created cause initial shock loss and then regrowth or does the hair just grow steadily without any shock loss with the Trichostem treatment?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад

      Hi Nadia Carolina,
      The Hair Regeneration does involve some hair shedding, but not as sudden or severe as shock loss. Thinning hair does need to shed before thicker hair grows in the same follicle. Timing of shedding does depend on where a person is in their normal hair shedding/regrowth phase. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi zaid md,
      EDGF and VEGF are already in PRP naturally, so a practice claiming to combine it with PRP does raise some flags.
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment that so far has lasted over 5 years in our original patients treated over 5 years ago, and is still working for them. You don't need repeat injections periodically, or maintenance drugs with Hair Regeneration. PRP injections for hair loss may be needed for life.

      I'm not aware of anyone applying this treatment and getting similar results. It's important to know that many practices may use PRP+ACell for hair loss treatment, but most are not customizing it for each patient and their individual needs and hair loss factors. Most practices using it take a shotgun approach where they use the same formulation for everyone, and hope for the best. Hair Regeneration is customized for each patient based on age, age of onset of hair loss, degree of hair loss, gender, and other medical factors. It is customization and the most experience with this particular therapy that has gotten us into a global leadership position for this, and the most successful and consistent results. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      The treatment does work if your hair is present, but thinning - but it can't bring back dead hair follicles in smooth-bald areas. However, sometimes dormant hair follicles can be reactivated, but there is no way of telling if a hair follicle is dormant or dead until you stimulate hair growth with the treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  6 лет назад +3

      Hi rose123,
      A hair transplant works best on smooth bald areas, but don't work well in areas where there are still lots of hair present, but the hair is thinning. Hair transplants also don't stop progressive hair loss. The Hair Regeneration treatment is best used to treat thinning hair to make it thicker and prevent it from being lost. Since natural hair density is much closer together than can be achieved with any number of hair transplants, saving and thickening hair can be much more effective than a transplant, but it really depends on a person's existing thinning hair. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi G Wagon,
      Hair transplants are generally not advised for men in their 20s, and you should be at least 30 before considering one, as hair transplant surgery cannot keep up with the rapid hair loss of men in their 20s. While it is understandable that you think your pattern will be slowly progressive like your father's, the genes for pattern hair loss can come from several generations from both sides of your family, so it is possible that you have them from a family member you’ve never even met, and your hair loss pattern can be more aggressive than your dad's. An evaluation is needed to determine if you have pattern hair loss, and if you can benefit from non-surgical treatments, including finasteride, and the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video. You can refer to this video about why hair transplants are not advised at your age - ruclips.net/video/2GkCy-30hFg/видео.html

      Hi Anushmita Das,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. I advise you have the cause of your hair loss diagnosed first since yours is relatively early, although 95% of hair loss cases are due to pattern hair loss. The Hair Regeneration treatment has to be done in the US. We do have many Indian patients coming to the US for treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in most cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. While there are many ways to improve hair health, hair loss is genetic, so the cause needs to be treated beyond just nutrition. I hope this helps you.

    Im 19 and just cut my hair short after growing it out for many years to find out the right corner of my hairline is so thin there might as well not be anything there. I know baldness runs I’m my family but it usually starts in the late 30s early 40s. I get so anxious thinking about if I should just shave my hair bald at 19 or have a horrible hairline.

      Hi Prasad Bhagwat,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. I suggest you see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. If you have male pattern hair loss this early, you do need to start with controlling DHT with a prescription drug like finasteride as you are likely highly DHT-sensitive. Finasteride can slow hair thinning. If you want to thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from hair follicles that are still viable but currently not growing, you can look into the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Ayush Srivastava,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker to control it, and slow hair thinning. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, or treat DHT, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning.
      Hair transplants are generally not recommended for someone as young as you because you will lose hair faster than it can be transplanted. Expectations of hair density in people as young as you are also higher, and cannot be achieved by even multiple hair transplants. I advise you do not get a hair transplant, but consider stabilizing your hair thinning with finasteride to slow it down, and Hair Regeneration to thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth of dormant hair follicles. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      The chances of side effects from finasteride are pretty rare at about 2% of users having them. I've had patients who were on finasteride for 20 years who didn't suffer from side effects. Finasteride is a prescription medication, and the most prescribed hair loss medication globally, so discuss it with a doctor before coming to conclusions. If it caused side effects in all men using it, it couldn't possibly be used by so many men around the world safely. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 года назад +1

      Hi@@andriizakrevskyi5335,
      All men have a significant level of DHT in their system, so a blood test isn't a reliable indicator. Male pattern hair loss is caused by DHT-sensitivity, and not all men have a DHT-sensitive scalp. Level of DHT-sensitivity also varies among men, which is seen in the level of aggressiveness of hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад

      Hi muffin man,
      Male pattern hair loss and scalp DHT-sensitivity are genetic issues, so they are hardwired into DNA, and can't really be prevented. If you don't have male pattern hair loss, I suggest you just be happy that you don't, because many people wish to be in your situation. If you ever have pattern hair loss as you get older, it won't manifest as severely as people who had it starting in their 20s or 30s as your relative, potential DHT-sensitivity will be much lower. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Ramsheed Mt,
      I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. You can watch this video and my other videos to learn more about the Hair Regeneration treatment. PRP injections for hair loss may be needed for life.

      Hi GSPxRUSH,
      There are no side effects to the Hair Regeneration treatment since it isn't actually a drug - it's a combination of two wound healing materials. The renewed hair growth is a response to an injury where your own adult stem cells are activated to renew and restart hair growth, from a slowed pace of thinning hair, to more robust thicker hair.
      This is a better treatment for you than others because you are still too young for a hair transplant, and if we treat you on time, you will retain more of your existing hair to stop future hair loss, and we can get better coverage and density with this treatment than even multiple hair transplants.
      Our primary locations are in New York. You can call our Manhattan, Upper East Side office at (212) 265-8877, or Garden City, Long Island at (516) 742-4636. Hi vamsi alapati,
      I'm not sure about your age or degree of hair loss, but if you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. Pattern hair loss is managed, not cured, so you may not get your previous hair coverage back fully, but you can get as much hair coverage as possible, for as long as possible if you are proactive in managing your hair loss with treatments like Hair Regeneration to thicken thinning hair, and a DHT-blocker like finasteride to slow progressive hair thinning. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi absar ahmed,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken your actively thinning hair - after it sheds, the hair will grow back thicker after treatment. This effectively stops and reverses the hair loss process because hair loss occurs when hair grows back thinner and thinner after it sheds, until it eventually stops growing at all. The treatment only works if the hair follicles are still present. If an area has been smooth bald for more than 5 years, you may no longer have hair follicles in the area. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi Arun Tripathi,
      If those baby hairs were once thick, then they can be thickened with the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video, but they can't be thickened with dermaroller alone. If the small hairs are vellus hairs that were never thick in the past, then they can't be thickened with any treatment. If you suspect you have male pattern hair loss, it is important to see a doctor for a diagnosis, and assess your DHT-sensitivity for a DHT-blocker like finasteride. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi PRATIK SONAWANE,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. If you cannot see us for a scalp examination, you need to see a local doctor for a proper diagnosis, and a prescription for finasteride. I hope this helps you.

    Is this treatment something you would have to keep getting in order to keep the regenerated hair or is it a one-time deal?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 года назад +1

      Hi DaBrute,
      The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment consists of 1-2 treatment sessions, spread 15-24 months apart, and can last 3-5 years, or even longer. For younger men with high DHT-sensitivity, taking finasteride is important to have results last. Not all ACell+PRP treatments are the same, though so they don't have the same longevity, or small number of treatment sessions. You can refer to these videos about the differences of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration versus other ACell+PRP treatments:

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Rohan Rathour,
      If you have early and aggressive pattern hair loss, you need to stabilize it. Hair transplants are not an option at your age because you are losing hair faster than it can be transplanted. You can take finasteride to slow down hair thinning, or have the Hair Regeneration treatment reverse your hair thinning by thickening your hair, thereby stopping hair loss. You can watch the video to see the results, or go to www.nyhairloss.com for more information. I hope this helps you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  8 лет назад +3

      Hi Rohan Rathour,
      Pattern hair loss is a genetic hormonal problem that needs to be treated internally. Topical treatments have limited benefit, and cannot treat the literal root of the problem. Hair Regeneration is not only the most effective treatment, but it also doesn't use drugs to thicken your hair. I hope this further clarifies things for you.

    • @JoeCnNd
      @JoeCnNd 8 лет назад +1

      Do you say transplants aren't an option because the hair could still be there in a dormant phase?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  8 лет назад +10

      Hi JoeCnND,
      No, hair transplants shouldn't be done on males in their 20s because if they have hair loss this young, they are having a rapid progression of hair loss, so hair is lost faster than it can be transplanted, so ethical surgeons won't do it at this age. Also, since only 20% of males experience hair loss in their 20s, patients expect more density than is possible with a hair transplant so they can match their peers. Hair transplants can be considered in the 30s and up, but the Hair Regeneration treatment can be done safely on males as young as 17. Hair Regeneration gives better density than a transplant because it thickens existing hair which already has a natural, tight density. Also, Hair Regeneration, for most patients, prevents further hair loss and thickens hair so well that they don't need a hair transplant. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hello sir , I’m 22 years old suffering from hair loos since long time and now hairline receding especially from temples, should I take finasteride and minoxidil together?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Abdallah Abuhait,Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily. I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning, and it can be used long-term more predictably. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. I don't know whether it is good to have medications like finasteride or not, day by day I feel that my baldness is growing, I m emotionally disturbed so much due to this, so, sir, pls suggest me a good way to avoid baldness and regrow hair .

      Hi M.Michael Babu,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. You do need to see a doctor to diagnose your hair loss first, and also to get a prescription for finasteride if it is determined that you have male pattern hair loss. Male pattern hair loss is hair thinning, but you may be suffering from hair shedding if you feel your hair has been falling out. It's important you see a doctor for a proper physical exam. I hope this helps you.

    It been around 7 yrs of losing hair, right after my graduation was over. Now I'm 27. What I noticed then was a severe dandruff and a very itchy scalp(mostly it goes severe when I take shower in cold water). When the dandruff remain under control hair grows but I never got that density what I had before. Now I don't see much dandruff but still hair falls while doing shampoo & oil massage. Now my hair density is very less and it's thinning out from all the portions of my head. Kindly let me know ur suggestions. Thanks.

      Hi Abhisek Mishra,
      Dandruff is a separate issue from pattern hair loss, but they both can happen at the same time. You need to have a proper diagnosis with a doctor's examination to confirm pattern hair loss before considering treatment. I hope this helps you.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  7 лет назад

      Hi sam king,
      We don't offer this treatment in the UK, but New York is a flight away. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in most cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age. We have treated people your age, but you would need the consent of your parents.
      The cost of the Hair Regeneration treatment varies with the extent of treatment needed, but at its full extent it costs about half of a single FUT hair transplant session, or about a third of a FUE hair transplant session performed in the US.
      The treatment has worked in close to 100% of male pattern hair loss cases. You can contact us for to book a Skype consultation, which will need to be done with your parents present, by filling out a contact form on www.nyhairloss.com, www.trichostem,com, or www.prasadcosmeticsurgery.com. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hello doctor, a few questions,
    My father is on NW 7 at age 50, is it safe him to get hair transplant?
    How long is the recovery period?
    Since, I live in the US but not my parents, will they be able to move back to India within, say 1 month, after the procedure?
    And also, do you have your clinic in Seattle?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  2 года назад

      Hi Anshul Pathak,
      While 50 is generally an appropriate age for a hair transplant, I can't say for certain your father is a candidate unless I examine his scalp and donor area. While full recovery from a hair transplant does take some time, it only takes a few days for grafted hair to be firmly in place that they won't dislodge, depending on how the procedure was performed. As featured in the video, our patients usually have a non-surgical hair transplant alternative to thicken thinning hair, and stimulate hair growth from dormant hair follicles that are still viable, but currently not growing hair. Unfortunately, I don't have an office in Seattle, or on the West Coast as I only practice in the East Coast.

      Hi Fred Greene,
      Actually, while the cost of the Hair Regeneration treatment varies with the extent of treatment, at its full extent it costs about half of a single hair transplant procedure. It may not be cheap, but it does have a lot of value as it stops hair loss, and thickens hair for more coverage and density than a hair transplant. I hope this helps you.

    Will your treatment work if you have extensive balding, like if your a Norwood 7 on the chart. Would like some advice for this as my brother is struggling from serious balding for almost 20 years.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  6 лет назад

      Hi Qumar Zaman,
      The Hair Regeneration treatment is primarily for hair that is still present, but thinning. Thinning hair still has the hair follicles in place, so as long as the follicle is still there, the hair can be saved and thickened. If the hair follicle is no longer there, as is often the case in smooth bald areas, then there is nothing left to save. However, if an area is smooth bald because of dormant hair follicles, then the treatment can help revive them, but unfortunately there is no telling which if it's dormant or dead in a microscopic evaluation. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      There will always be shedding issues associated with minoxidil as it delays the natural shedding cycle, so you can have a sudden severe shed if you stop using it. Why do you only recommend hair regeneration and transplants? I hope you realize hair loss can be easily stopped with the proper diet and or blocking DHT. Both my brothers have balded and are in there 30's. I'm a couple years older and still have a full thick set of hair. All three of us have had the same hairline since we were yougner. They smoked their whole lives and had improper dieting. I have never smoked and have always had great eating habits and am fit. It can happen because of your genes but can also happen on the way you live your life day to day.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  8 лет назад +96

      Hi Chris,
      I also do prescribe finasteride to my patients, but it doesn't work on everyone. Finasteride is a DHT inhibitor, but if you look up its effectiveness it only works on 60% of men, meaning that DHT is not the only cause of pattern hair loss. Women also cannot take finasteride. As for health, we all know people who smoke and do not eat properly, but have great hair, so health may have an effect on hair, but it does not cause pattern baldness. Many of our hair loss patients are athletes with strict diet and training regimens, yet they are still experiencing hair loss. Pattern hair loss is indeed genetic, but not every sibling carries the genes that cause it. There are many families that are the reverse of yours - the healthy ones may be experiencing pattern hair loss, while those with more unhealthy lifestyles still have great hair. It is common to link a cause and effect that may not be medically true. I do hope you are able to keep you hair as you get older, as the many people frustrated by hair loss do consider people like you very lucky.

I hope you will response it soon as I want to know badly about activators name and their reality. Thank you 🙏💕

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  5 лет назад

      Hi Fifty Shades of Darkness,
      Extracellular matrix is the main ingredient of Hair Regeneration, and PRP is the activator. You may be mistaken with growth factors - PRP alone has growth factors, but if you use PRP alone for hair loss, you only get short-term hair growth. Hair Regeneration works as a wound healing response where dormant hair follicles become active again when adult stem cells become active in the injection area, and make dormant hair follicles active again, and thicken thinning hair, and it can be done in only 1-2 treatment sessions, which are separated by 15-24 months, and can last 3-5 years. You can refer to these videos about why not all ACell PRP, or PRP treatments are the same, with the key being the experience of treating hair loss by the doctor administering the the injections:

      Hi,
      Sorry to hear about your problem. I suggest you see a local doctor for a proper examination to diagnose the cause of your hair loss. Treatment can only be done with a diagnosis, and 15 is generally too early for male pattern hair loss. If your father has hair loss, he would understand the need to have it examined by a doctor if it occurs early. I hope this helps you.
