I would honestly find it impossible to ever sell, trade, or gift a guitar that Stevie Ray Vaughn gave me as a birthday present, or just gave me in general. You're truly giving away a piece, not just some random guitar, but an absolutely massive piece, of "Blues" and "Music" History. The World lost easily, one of the top guitar players, regardless of music genre, at only 35-years young.

Please...things don't mean the same to everyone...especially material things. If such simple things can benefit another while paying for a car, house or college education...more power to them. I find autographs and such things silly always...this is just a larger scale for some.

i had the pleasure of playing a guitar Stevie had played. He came to Chicago and he played at Biasco Music in the mid 1980s. A guy I know was there and watched the impromptu concert. After SRV was done he set down the guitar and was signing autographs. My buddy picked up the guitar and bought on the spot. He didn't even know how to play. I had the pleasure of playing it next after Stevie. So cool.

Stevie can be seen playing that guitar in 1975 and 1976 while with Paul Ray and the Cobras. There are pictures on line. One was taken at Soap Creek Saloon, and fits my memory of seeing them in 1976. Funny story about meeting him back in 1976. I was the DJ at another club, Stevie came up to talk to me about the Sammy Hagar LP I was playing. Only time I ever talked with him, but saw him play many times.

I think Kurt is right! My first impression of the guy presenting the guitar from the back of a car was very fishy! A cheap Harmony from back in the day and no nut, strings, pick up! If I was to put money down on it I would want to see pics of srv holding or playing it some kind of documentation saying it was his! Had to be an expensive trip for a dissapointing inexpensive guitar! I have heard that harmony is making a come back with new models! How cool! Good luck with it Mimi!

Jimmie sold one of Stevie's guitars and donated 100% of the sale proceeds to Eric Clapton's Crossroads Center for the treatment of addictive disorders. This video does not explain what Tyrone did with the proceeds. We know that Janna has sold many numerous items that belonged to Stevie to private collectors, as they no longer held any significance for her. She has sold his poncho, his wallet, his squash blossom necklace, his AA medallion necklace, his boots and hats, as well as many hand-written notes.

A friend of mine lent me that exact same guitar in the late 70s. It played and sounded decent except the strings are not grounded. I ran a ground wire from the jack to one of the strings at the tailpiece so it wouldn’t hum while playing. When he got it back he was all ticked off at me because of the added external wire. Anyway, it is great to know Stevie had one of these Harmonys.

Those old Harmony Bobkats are very cool and getting quite sought after because of the prized DeArmond "gold foil" pickups. They became really popular when Annie Clark of St. Vincent and some other alternative artists started playing them. They are super common because so many were sold, but still usually fetch 500-600 for the type shown, which looks like an H14 model. I am super curious what Pedal Pawn paid for the guitar. It's worth many times its normal value because it was owned by Stevie Ray, but how much exactly? Dying to know!
