At my work place, they have this gorgeous monstera that is over 30 feet high, with gigantic leaves, one single leaf is over 1m in diameter, that monstera was planted there when they’ve opened over 30 years a go, it grows perfectly in the climate of the fire escape stairs which are filled with plenty sun facing windows. I admired that plant every single day, so one day I’ve decided to steal some leafs. I’ve started to grow my Monstera from those cuttings two years a go and now it’s thriving, the leafs are very big too (not as big as the mother tree) but I’m sure I’ll be getting there one day😍😍😍 I absolutely love these plants, thanks for the tips 👌🏾

Wow, your adansonii looks great! I have a small one growing in soil that I've let dangle and trail over the edges of the pot but maybe now I will try staking it! Good luck getting yours nice and big!

What a gorgeous, massive plant! I'm just wondering what the process is like for when you have to up pot your monstera- does there come a time where it's just too arduous and difficult to manage? How root bound would you let it get before transplanting? I got my monstera about a year ago and I can't believe how quickly it's growing!
I wait an entire year at this size. I'm sure it's already fairly root bound. I may have to cut the pot to remove the plant. I have 2 more pot sizes to go (2 more years) before the next size would be unmanageable in my space.
I have to get my pots from specialty stores so I think at this point point most people would either choose to let their plant be root bound forever, occasionally topping up the soil, or take a top cutting and root those to continue with the largest leaves.

If I see browning on the neck of the leafs what does that mean? I think my plant is happy it even has two new shoots.
I have a VERY full monstera deliciosa; how do I know when/if it’s time to separate it into multiple plants? I recently repotted (May ‘22) & didn’t even consider separating it until a few weeks later. It’s getting a little crowded in there!

To be honest I really don't have the patience to separate plants. Especially if there are many stems with a developed root system. I personally choose cutting and propping in water and starting a new pot.
However, if you're set on separating you can do it whenever you want. Ideally during the growing season. Or if it's too crowded you can just cut stems back to nearly the base. If you don't want them to continue to grow once they start to develop new growth points you can keep breaking them off.

I’m not determined to separate, and love the look of a full plant, I just wondered if too much crowding might lead to smaller new growth! But if it’ll be fine, then I’d rather not! I’ll definitely do some propagating so I can have a less dense plant + achieve those larger leaves!

@@KillThisPlant no, thank you! Also may we have a video to maybe talk in depth about the raphidophora tetrasperma. Monsteras get a large amount of videos about growing leaf size and fenestrations but raphidophoras don’t. I’m sure they have similar care tips but I’d like to know how to get inner fenestrations on my tetrasperma! I think they look amazing
@@fimpero994 I can look into it. But the issue with the R. Tet is that they grow so quickly they outgrow moss poles/planks so quickly and you really need to airlayer to propagate, otherwise the new growth tends to get damaged.
That 100 lb monstera is impressive!
Can you tell me why you chose a cypress pole for one plant, and a bamboo pole for another?

A love monstera delicious I’ve had mine for a year and it only lost one leaf since then it is big now I love it so easy to care the adasonii for me is dying I’m trying to save it but I suck at propagation, do you use any rooting hormones or would you suggest thanks great video
No specific suggestions, all rooting hormones have similar ingredients. Try getting one that has an antifungal included.
So my monstera started popping out fenestrated (I think I made up that word lol) leaves like crazy! Lately the leaves sprout up short and looks like philidandrens. Do you know why that would happen??
When you say short to you mean the petiole length is shorter? Are the leaves still getting larger/more fenestrations?
@@KillThisPlant correct! The petiole is shorter. It is maybe about 3-4 inches and they are growing at the perimeter of the plant next to the soil without fenestrations. Before it would grow about 8-10 inches before unfurling a fenestrated leaf. I hope my description makes sense.
@@patricialinzsey9611 if the petiole is shorter but leaf size is still increasing that's usually a sign your plant is getting more light.
With lack of light the plant will grow longer petioles to try and reach new light source

loved your whole collection Lee. why exactly do the leaves get smaller at the top? and how does taking cutlings help it?
Generally leaves get smaller with lack of light. When I take cuttings it's usually to start over or get them started with a better climbing system for something long term.

@@KillThisPlant I found that light isn't the only cause for leaves getting smaller as it grows taller. The leaves getting smaller are a lack of maturity. I've found that if the Aerial root attaches itself while climbing it will help produce bigger leaves and help the monstera mature.
Generally climbing plants produce smaller leaves when getting less light but also when not getting enough support for example in the form of a (decent) pole. Just think about it: big leaves on a plant that cannot attach itself to a stable surface are a threat to the plant’s stability.
I need help with my monstera deliciosa. The leaves are yellowing around the edges and browning on new growth before unfurling. 💔
Yellowing around the edges first is usually a sign of underwatering. I would have to see pictures and know more about your care habits before I would say that's definitely the issue.
Are the plant poles you use, treated?
No, I don't believe so.
Where'd you get that clear plastic pot that the adansonii was planted in?
I got it from my local nursery. I haven't been able to find any sturdy ones online.
You have a great collection! My Monstera Deliciosa only has 1 leaf with fenestrations, otherwise none. It gets plenty of light and its staked on bamboo stakes. The latest leaves are much taller and leaves are bigger, but still no fenestrations. What else can I do to get fenestrations?
I have a few videos on that in my Monstera playlist, but it sounds like you're doing everything right. I wonder if you had a mid cutting and its reverted to a smaller size?
Make sure your plant is staked properly and if you can increase light even more try that. Otherwise just give it time.
@@KillThisPlant Thank you! Perhaps it's not staked properly? I have it tied to 3 bamboo sticks that are tied together in a triangle or tent appearance. I just personally don't like the appearance of a moss pole.
