I once worked with a spray painter that was like you. half way through a job he's say "Hmmm, I think I'm gonna need a mask!", as he coughed up a lungful of paint. I'm sure he's fine ... Great to see the progress on the Professor. Good to see a classic Citroen being saved. May you be richly rewarded in heaven!
This car was lucky to have found you! That was a great clean up. Now you can see it all. Thanks for taking us along on this trip. Your attention to detail is one of the reasons I watch this channel. See you on the next one.
Great to see some progress on the crusty tomato. Also great to see the merch store up, had to grab a Clement mug. Perfect for a contemplation cuppa when staring admiringly at broken french cars.
Just picked up several of these including a trio of SM's from a Woman who's late Husband had collected cars. We dragged 43 cars off of Her 600+Acre Ranch. 43 Vehicles for $5000. All rust free Nevada and New Mexico cars. The SM's are Gold,Green and Silver respectfully. There's four BX's and about 12 various Pugeout Diesel Station Wagons. No idea what we're going to do with them. We'll just put them out in the Desert. Lots of Simcas too. Ive bought a few from the Boss.
@@UPnDOWN well, the VEP video was the last one, and it was a month ago. I just wanted to show my appreciation for BX videos, but I I also appreciate everything else
On Austin/Rover metros the shell rusts behind where the rear beam bolts to the body, back in the day you'd see a metro at the side of the road with wonky wheels after going over a speed bump or pot hole Still happening today as they look solid until you remove the beam to find no metal holding it in place
»Brain fart« is the same expression in German: »Hirnfurz«… I like it when you’re explaining whilst you’re working on a car. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Bye bye and see you soon. Joyeux Noël ! --- Martin
That looks really tidy tbf.. it's hard for someone to think about the cost of these sorts of jobs but there are newer cars in worse shape, just that people tend to ignore things until they're visible, break, or fail a MOT. Anyone comment complaining needs to see some of the E46 underbody work on other channels, that's rather eye-opening.
Forgot to add: isn't this also a perfect opportunity to replace the piece of fuel hose that goes from fuel filter outlet, to the fuel rail in the chassis (along the right-hand sill). As, with the rear axle in sitiu, it seems nigh-on impossible to replace? Cheers!
How do you sor out the water for the steam cleaner? We had one in n my last job and they bought vats of de ionised water but that's really ezpensive if you dont have room to accomodate vats.
One of the benefits of living in Scotland is that kettles last forever, the supermarkets have never figured this out, there's always a shelf of limescale removal products gathering dust.
I accept that the mud dust will help mop up the fluid on the floor, and that access is not total before wheels off etc., but why didn't you jetwash the car before you started all this work underneath to get most of the muck off. Surely that would be more efficient?
Not really, it would have worked in some of the easy-to-access areas, but the majority of the stuff that took the most effort would have been out of reach of a jet wash anyway.
my TRD Turbo tecnic had exactly the same rust damage near the exhaust support, I had to cut out and remake that exact same spot. Fortunately I didn't have the split of the longeron , hope it goes on rollers to fix that part ;D And dont forget to look how the rear axle bearings are , it's very possible the reason why someone remove the axle before, has the bearings develop slack and the rear arms go Gordini style
Well that video ended suddenly! 't'was good though (hopefully abbreviating' it was' doesn't upset you!). How large would a paddling pool need to be to contain the water from a power washer (with prof tom on the lift)? Or are we talking a pond liner and a wall of blocks around the edge? Their underside looks in great shape, any plans to spray in body colour then add a clear protective coat (so JM can show everyone a sparkling (and expensively) restored car!)?
They must have taken ages to build originally at the factory in comparison to something less complex. Seeing underneath and all the bizarre stuff they designed into it to make it actually work makes you wonder how they made it profitable.
Definitely worth doing properly like that, good thorough job, well done. This is encouraging me to invest in a proper steam cleaner, my little Electrolux pot isn't up to larger jobs. Are those really genuine Citroen mud flap / spats? Maybe unicorns do exist after all.
*Pedant Alert* Isn't it ten years for a player at one club to get a testimonial, maybe it's changed? Mind you they are going to be a thing of the past, hardly any player sticks around more than a few seasons in recent years.
I keep doing this! No idea why I keep saying 8 years! Nobody else likes football in car world though, so nobody will notice (and they'll get that question wrong in future pub quizes thanks to me mmmwwuuuhhahahahahahahahaha!)

The BX that just keeps on giving. James has probably forgotten he owns this car.
Maybe wish he had forgotten!!
He had a sharp reminder when the bill landed at his door.

Pity he didn’t clean up the workshop - how does anyone work in so much crap🫣
If somebody has time to clean up a workshop, they're not busy enough.
It’s actually all right under there, such a lot and o f work
Imagine sitting down and designing those mechanisms, amazing
Great job on the clean up ,love the screwdriver comment 😂

Great little tinkering video on the Tomato Rich. You even got Steaming😂😂
I'm hoping it'll take the creases out of it...
It's in really lovely condition. Glad to see this taken care of
Chimera scene was a cracker! Lovely with some BX tinkering, great stuff
Wow! Nice job on the cleanup!
This is giving an old car TLC. So true your comment about poking with the screwdriver!

"just put them out in the desert?" Sell them! Let people enjoy them. BXs in the states (I'm guessing that's where you are) are VERY rare.
@@UPnDOWN We sell stuff. But I think the demographic is changing. Not many people go as crazy as they used to for old cars.
I'm currently awaiting the delivery of a mug that proudly proclaims I don't have an SM 😊 to go with my wooden SM fridge magnet👍

There have been tonnes of them recently!?

Amazing vid, thanks!
One question:
where are the ABS connectors actually located (is it inside the cabin? Any clues?)
Ta!
My white Rusty BX, hasn't got those outriggers in the rear arches. Do all BXs have them?
Yes. Yours might have rusted away 😆

You can change the bearings without dropping the axle, though, so I suspect it was due to the suspension being repiped or something.

To be fair, that's pretty simple. Would have been far more work to get the back end of something like an E30 apart.
