The update fixed my charging problem that caused mine not to power on at all. This started after not using speaker for a couple weeks. Thought it needed battery replaced but this worked. Your video was very easy to follow. Thanks!!

For me, it was to fix an issue where the speaker would automatically go into "shipping mode" which didn't allow you to turn on the speaker without plugging it into the wall. No matter what the battery level was. Also helps stay up to date with software on the new phones and such that come out after the model of speaker you have. So it's not really about quality as much as bug fixes.

If you dont use it for 14 days its in the Battery Save mode. Plug the charging cable in and hold the multifuncion button for 10 seconds. After that you can do the update.
i have guess the first generation and i hardly used more than 3 hours, last time i used a month ago, was working fine, and today its not there is only red blinking light, i tried everything, used mute button while on charging three lights blinked and same thing happened again, never turned on, i have been trying for last 2 hours, any other suggestion please, in order to reset or update speaker should turned on, mine one not turning on at all, any suggestion please

i get driver error for my bose mini2 but it connects to my PC well just it returns this error and it dont play any sound at all. on the bluetooth settings. instead of saying "Paired" mine say "Driver Error". can updating it fix it ?
I have the same problem with mine...worked just fine for a while and now it's displayed connected as Headset earphone (BOSE Mini2Soundlink Hand-Free AG Audio). Have you ever had other Bose products connected to your laptop via Bluetooth?
I have the newest version and have the problem, that the box shut down after 10min in AUX-Mode. Downgrade is not possible, the bose webpage shows only the newest version, also in advanced mode! The dropdown only shows 1.1.4

Curiosity here, BUT what could POSSIBLY be updated about a speaker?
Is this normal? My new purchased Bose mini 2 SE volume is way too low. 50% volume is too low 30% volume you cant hear anything just a little bit!

What did u update the speaker for? Does it play better prior to the update?
Good question, I haven't checked if the update influenced the sound quality but I did not notice much change.
For me, it was to fix an issue where the speaker would automatically go into "shipping mode" which didn't allow you to turn on the speaker without plugging it into the wall. I see what the problem is. In the upper righthand corner of the updater, it says CHANGE LANGUAGE. Try that.
