OMG. Like many other people, I was plugging my speaker in and after 2-3 seconds it stopped charging. I followed the instructions here and it worked! Thank you so much for your video!
The very 1st step worked for mine. Have had mine for a few years & hadn't used it for a month or so. Was about to buy another until I checked RUclips & came across this. Felt like an idiot! Didn't even know it had a charge port on the side. 🙃
Noticed my Bose wasn't charging and got really worried. Watched this video and fixed the problem within an hour (I had to put into "shleep" mode). Thank you so much! I can't imagine doing housework without some jams coming from my speaker! :)
Another very relieved and grateful Bose Mini Soundlink II owner who was just about to contact Bose because it wouldn’t charge. Sorted after the first step and 10second press of multifunction button. Many, many thanks to you xxx
Thank you! After turning on the device and realizing it needed to be charged, I plugged in the charger and a LOUD CRACK [distortion] came from the speaker - and it got stuck in powered on mode, without any sound, and could neither charge or power off. Your second solution, with the multi-function button, worked for me (after scouring the internet and only finding the same "hold the power button" solution everywhere). So THANK YOU once again! Life saver!
Same problem, my speaker was not charging after a few seconds and tried out the instructions. Now it's back to normal. Many thanks for your sharing. It really helped.
i was about to dispose of it already... since my tech-savvy husband said its hopeless already. and now its fully alive all because of this randomly browsed video hahahaha. so grateful. mine has sentimental value to me.
Thank you very much! It works for me. My soundlink mini II didn't charge, the battery LED turns on for 2-3s then turns off. So I maintain the central button until AUX lamp turns on then unplug the power. Now it's charging, youpi!
Thank you very much. I was about to send the speaker for repairs then I thought of searching youtube for a fix. This video was 2nd on the search list and I manage to RESET my speaker using the multi-function button. Thanks a Ton..
Here's how I fixed mine: 1. download the BOSE software updater 2. Connect speaker to pc, with the updater page open. 3. If your speaker needs an update, do so. If it is already up-to-date, hold the keys A, S, D, up, down. This gives you advanced mode in the updater. You need to change the language, then click update/apply. Wait until it's finished, then you can change the language back. Worked for me. This problem is caused by not using the provided charger with the speaker.
Here’s how I fixed mine: 1. I had a blinking red light above the power button on my SoundLink Mini. None of the functions worked and it would not charge. 2. I held the multifunction button down for 10 seconds, the blinking red light changed to blinking amber, I removed power while still holding down the multifunction button, but it did not fix the problem. Note that no other lights began blinking before I removed power and released the multifunction button. 3. I downloaded the BOSE software updater. 4. I launched BOSE updater and followed the prompts 5. The website said my speaker was up to date. 6. I entered “Advanced Mode” on the updater. Note there is nothing on the webpage that suggests this option. Here’s how I did it: on my keyboard I selected Caps Lock and then I pressed “A” and released, pressed “D” and released, pressed “V” and released, pressed the Up Arrow and released, and pressed the Down Arrow and released. My screen went to advanced mode and displayed a green update button. I clicked on the green button, and then it started to apply or re-apply the previous update. As the update status bar progressed from 0-100%, my speaker beeped a few times and some lights changed/flashed/blinked. 7. Once it reached 100%, I disconnected the speaker from my computer and all appears to be working correctly now.
Your tips are still effective affter almost 4 years of publishing your video! :) my bose soundlink color 2 wasnt booting and charging at all (no light when plugged in, except pwr and then the 3 first who would flash and turn off) - i could only get lights when i unplugged and plugged the pwr back in - i had to press 10 sec the pwr button and now it looks like its charging!! (pwr light is flashing red while plugged in) Many thanks!!
My SoundLink mini was not charging and this tutorial solved the problem with a factory reset. Where would we be without RUclips instructionals? TY for this upload!
Mine was connecting but not playing. I did the reset you showed and my speaker works fine again. Also knowing that it will go into a safe mode after 14 days helped my mind out. Ive wondered why it would turn on and plugged it in to find it was still charged. Thank you so much
Much appreciated sleep mode/processor reboot was required now back up and running. Had my Bose Soundlink Mini 2 for 10years now, first actual problem that required a reboot. They really are worth the money and long lasting 😎
YOU are an angel. I've been trying to charge my Bose battery for such a long time and visited so many websites (including the Bose website) to try to fix this and was about to give up. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!
Thank you so much this is very helpful my BOSE SOUNDLINK COLOUR 2 just worked by pressing and holding the multi-function. Now it's charging I'm so happy 😊❤️ before I found this video I used to wait for like 4 days to 1 week for my Bose speaker to charge.
I tried all fixes from all similar videos and nothing worked. I let the battery run right down until I got the 'battery low' warning message, plugged it back in and voila! It's now charging! 👍
Recently my Bose mini link ll was not charging it's battery, Thank goes to ur first remedial tip and now it is taking charge properly. I am really relaxed now.
Worked like a charm. Issue: getting red light and wasn’t charging. When you plug your get yellow light and goes off Tried in both port Later- plugged to ac power and then pressed the Bluetooth reset button. Later I changing the charging point to normal and it worked Super saver of my time and my Bose baby
Thank you! The solution 2. with holding multifunction button for 10 seconds worked for me! Also the way you presented it both on video and in description is perfect, thanks again!
1.1K people are experiencing Bose Soundlink Mini 2 power-up problems and 162 have thrown theirs away before discovering this video. As for me? Mine wouldn't turn on after not being used for a while, even though 80% chargd. I didn't realise about the battery auto-sleep shipping mode after 14 days of inactivity. Now I can relax, knowing mine isn't broken. Excellent video. Thank you Speaker Fanatic.
Omg life saver i was about to sell thing for parts wouldnt charge fully i reset the whole speaker like the last step u showed and it worked! Thank you so much 🙌🏼🙌🏼
FACTORY RESET FOR ME! It wasn't showing any charging. I did not try the soft reset of holding the multi-use button I went straight for holding the power button for 10 seconds and now it's charging and now I'm happy lol This is my speaker for gaming! Super important for me!
Friend I have a problem identical to the one you posted in the video, only the difference is in the model of mine that is a Bose soundlink II. could you help me in this case? or it has some difference because it is different models .. if you could please send me the step by step of this configuration .. Thank you very much
Thanks, second option works for us. For us, when the speaker was connected to the charger, the charging led used to blink for 2 - 3 seconds and then turn off. The speaker would not charge at all in this case. Followed your troubleshoot step by connecting the charger, holding multi-function key for few seconds, the leds start blinking, disconnected the charger cable and released the key and everything is back to normal now. The speaker is now charging.
Hi, thank you for this really complete tutorial ! unfortunately, it did not resolved my problem : FLASHING RED BATTERY LIGHT (i tried both way of charging : direct and with the desk) it is really weird because it worked fine till 2 days ago when probably it went totally discharged and now I don't even know how to update it (as it has no power at all) Do you think you may help ? (sorry for my broken english ;-) )
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! You definitely fixed mine!!!! Mine is a brand new unit but bought it on eBay so there's no warranty. I can't thank you enough for helping me. I tried pressing the menu button for 10 seconds method but I released the button before unplugging the charging cable by accident (was watching you video and doing at the same time) but as soon as I released the button, charging light started to blink. Now it's charged to 100%!!!
Hi. My speaker still won’t charge. Even after the method mentioned in video. When I plug it, a yellow light flashes and that’s it. I even left it to charge for 48hrs. Should just get a new battery instead? Or
Man, this video has helped me out in the past but now my Soundlink seems totally screwed! When I plug the power cord into the speaker the "charging up" sound plays, immediately followed by the "unplugged" sound - so in other words, for a brief moment it recognises there's a power cable in there, but won't actually charge. Have tried all these steps and nothing has fixed it, and this is already after I'd sent it to Bose for repairs on an earlier occasion! Maybe time to invest in a new one.
OMG. Like many other people, I was plugging my speaker in and after 2-3 seconds it stopped charging. I followed the instructions here and it worked! Thank you so much for your video!
Still doesnt work for me
Same dear, what a relief. I was about to buy another one 😅
Thanks - mine wouldn’t charge, followed the steps and it’s charging now, much appreciated!
Which step is the one that worked, because I have the same issue and it’s not working for me.
The very 1st step worked for mine. Have had mine for a few years & hadn't used it for a month or so. Was about to buy another until I checked RUclips & came across this. Felt like an idiot! Didn't even know it had a charge port on the side. 🙃

Superb tutorial. From being worried that the speaker was busted to fully working in seconds. Thanks for your great advise.
Me too
Another very relieved and grateful Bose Mini Soundlink II owner who was just about to contact Bose because it wouldn’t charge. Sorted after the first step and 10second press of multifunction button.
Many, many thanks to you xxx
Fantastic and so easy to follow. Wasn't going to give Bose £50 to repair it so was about to bin the speaker, now working and charging. Thanks

Tried Bose website but was left disappointed and frustrated.
YOU ROCK!! ❤

This problem is caused by not using the provided charger with the speaker.
hold the keys A, D, V, up, down
@@pedrosaldana sorry, you are correct.
Incorrect, my speaker is always charged via the cable or cradle provided by Bose.

How can you possibly update the firmware if the garbage won't turn on?
I tried all fixes from all similar videos and nothing worked.
