Not even a flashing light. Dead as a dodo....but following and persevering with the various steps you have detailed......fantastic. Fixed! You are my new best friend :) Thanks Vince
Thank you I have tried many videos but yours worked. You mentioned the using a correct cable, as in one that transfers data and power. That did the trick, none of the other videos stated this. Hats of to you and getting my little speaker charging again.
Awesome video, came across it by accident whilst looking for a replacement Bose Mini speaker. The red light of death has gone and it now works perfectly. Thanks !
My went on flashing red light from 90percent charge. I thought it was DEAD as nothing has worked and I've got it on everyday use for at least 6 years. Turns out that little software update has fixed it :) Thanks!
Cheers mate, had the same issue, red flashing light. My firmware was already up to date (v 1.1.4) but there is a sneaky way to reinstall it. With the Bose updater open in your browser, press a, d, v, up arrow, down arrow on your keyboard and it shows an advanced menu from where you can force it to reinstall the firmware. Excellent!
@@RoccoLoco13 Mine was completely flat as well, but it worked. I watched other videos where they said use CAPS and hold A D V UP ARROW DOWN ARROW. That isn't how I did it. I just pressed a d v up arrow down arrow once and it went into advanced menu. Then it showed update available even though I had the latest version on according to Bose. Just plug your speaker into the computer that should give you enough juice to do it.
What a wonderful video, it came top of my google search and fixed my speaker issue beautifully. I am very happy that I don't have to buy a new one as I love this little speaker. thank you!
for anyone with this problem but having latest firmware: to REINSTALL go the update website and press "a,d,v(up arrow),(down arrow)" to enter Advanced mode that will allow you to reinstall firmware, should fix the red light issue.
Thanks for the tip to go to Advanced mode. Bose website was saying my software was uptodate, so, following your advice, I re-installed the latest sw and hey presto the speaker that Bose wanted to charge me £50 to 'service' now works fine !!
I was having the same not charging issue. You video was extremely helpful. It saves me from th bing to purchase a new battery or a even a new mini box.

After whats i got the Option to Reinstall the newest Update. And See it worked Box is fixed! Sorry for by Bad Englisch. Greadings from Germany
We had the non-charging problem. The speaker was stuck at 20% charge and wouldn't charge any further. We tried all the supposed fixes (factory reset, update/downgrade firmware etc, etc) and nothing worked. We let the battery run right down until the audible voice 'Battery Low' warning started, then tried charging again and viola! Worth a try if any of the supposed fixes don't work for you.
In case anyone is trying to fix their Soundlink make sure its the second version, II. The first one had the exact same problem but it bricks the device when you get the battery error. First version cant be software updated. From reading it seems to be the TI charging chip fails, not the battery. When I looked at the datasheet for the chip it requires seeing a good battery to bring up power. Not really away around it short of replacing the chip. Ticked me off for a Bose product. You should always be able to run a product by plugging into the wall.
Bloody marvelous! I was about to cut the wires on my battery and thought: "I'll just have one last scout on YT to see how to do it!" and stumbled across this video. It worked a treat! Here I was contemplating cutting wires, spending £50 on a replacement battery or even trying to find a way to bypass the battery and wire straight to a power adapter! Do you reckon wiring it to a power adapter is possible?
Tested Oct 2024 - STILL WORKS! (had a random USB wire connected via USB-C dongle to my macbook and it initially didnt work...switched to another wire and bingo)
Still having problems. I have an old SoundLink Mini. What's the name of the wired device you used to connect to the computer and can you get it from Amazon? My connection to the Mini is like an auxillary connection that plugs into power outlet. I feel left out because this works for everybody else.
Omg!!!, thank you so much dude!!!!, i haven't been able to use my speaker for such a long timeand this video really helped me out, i can finally use it again :D

If the Bose website says your software is up to date. Press ‘a’ ‘d’ ‘v’ ‘up arrow’ ‘down arrow’. This will enable the advanced settings. Select the latest software and launch. It will reload the software and at about 80% of the install will reset the speaker. Leave to install the rest and then plug into the mains to charge fully.
@@waypolos630 it did start working in the end. I’m trying to remember what happened. I *think* that I followed the above and left it. So hopefully if you leave it when it’s installing, it will succeed even if it looks like it failed?
