Some people look for reasons to judge other people. What you buy to feed your family is your business. The critics don't have to eat it. There's NOTHING in those grocery stores that is absolutely pristine healthy. Everything in those stores have been processed to some degree, including the produce. People with suggestions may mean well but you have to live and let live.

It is hard to have somebody in the family with a sweet tooth and not get involved in eating something unhealthy... I was shopping today for food and bought onions, radishes, cucumber, carrots, milk, cheese, olive oil, and bananas. We had soup and meat ready for dinner at home. Guess what? My husband stopped at Aldi and bought 3 sorts of ice cream and a big chocolate bar...Should I laugh or cry? I am craving for sweets when I know there is something "good" and not "good for us" ...

White Castles here in MN - yes! For an occasional treat because of course they are not 'healthy'. I have 2 Aldi stores within 10 miles where I live. It took me a while to warm up to them but now I am. Most prices are below the big chains. With the cost of food still high, we have to shop strategically to stay within budget.

Great job staying under budget! I've done an awful job with our budget this month. We're in Memphis. My sister-in-law was in the hospital, is in rehab now, and will come to her home on Thursday. We are in the process of clearing out her house to sell it, and she'll move in with us in Florida. Prayers, please, that I stay attuned to her needs during this stressful time. I'm task-oriented and may not be as patient as I should. I loved seeing your haul and would like the apricot chicken recipe. Love to all, Linda 💕

Aldi bought the Winn Dixie chain last year, I just hope they keep the sales of their meat department going on (their sales are even cheaper than Aldi meats) because that’s one of the ways I can afford steak.

Aldi is where we spend most of our non-meat food budget. Markdowns at a local chain are where we usually get meat. Get a grip people; everyone has different tastes and wants for their menus. I also like to use plain yogurt and flavor it myself. I have to watch processed sugar in my diet because it really adversely affects my arthritis but appreciate that is not a concern for all. I am interested in trying the crock pot yogurt. Thank you for sharing.

Unplug the crackpot once the mixture is the correct temperature. Place it in an empty cooler, and cram towels inside for extra insulation.

Sometimes you’re better off shopping sales at other stores and not everything at Aldi. Aldi has such great produce so I’m surprised I didn’t see more of it in your haul. The last thing is why not prep and freeze meals to save money when you don’t have time? It’s cheaper and healthier than the quick things you bought.

If you strain your homemade yogurt, you get Greek yogurt. I let a portion strain even longer and mix it with fruit puree for an awesome spread for toast. It's a weekend treat.
The whey is awesome in soups. You supposedly can add an acid like vinegar or lemon juice to whey and make ricotta but I've never had much luck with it. To me, it's better as a soup base.

Good afternoon we bought a soda stream, yes the bottles and initial investment is pricey but the basic kit comes with a couple of bottles.. do not buy the co2 from them, hubby buys a rental-paint ball co2 cylinder and gets it filled for about 40 dollars every 5 months and we just make fizzy water. You can buy adapters to fit on the soda stream machine to take a long hose and attach under the sink for the co2 canister. If anyone is interested I will get hubby to explain how he did this, There are three of us drinking at least 3 to 4 bottles of water a day. great savings. We take a bottle in the car is going on a trip. or just shopping.
The cost is 40 dollars Cdn so maybe 25 usa for good wholesome water.
