My dog got hit by a car last weekend and was killed instantly... here's me crying about that since it happened but there's a realisation it could always be worse watching this unfold. There's many thousands of Russian and Ukrainian families going to be devastated for years, a lot of innocent lives will be lost, on the whim and delusion of Putin.
These things put life in perspective and make my own grief very small.

In Putin's ideal world where he wins there will be a Ukraine still. It will just be much smaller. Landlocked and not include Kyiv. The landlocked part is the most important geo-strategically because it keeps NATO and American war ships out of the Black Sea.

Bravo to incredible resistance by the Ukrainians, it s good that they are being very strategic and putting up resistance where it matters most instead of just going wherever Russians are which would cause them massive unnecessary loses. Russia is blitzing them from North but Crimea and East routes are more vital as Russia can more effectively maintain those logistic lines but Logistic lines from North via Chernobyl are just worthless. It would be disaster for the Russian forces there. The Territory North of Kyiv is Mountainous giving the defender an edge while the flat terrain from east is flat giving the attacker an edge. Bravo. Wait a minute. I saw a video yesterday of an artillery piece being loaded and prepped in between two gas stations that looked alot like this. I assume what we see here is the aftermath of that clip. RIP to all the soldiers lost on both sides. Being able to watch this war this way is absolutely surreal. I remember watching war videos from Vietnam, World War 2, Korea, and many others through documentaries through my childhood. We have more access and evidence of what took place at these battlefields than ever before.
