- Kyiv is now a capital under siege - Russian forces are already near the outskirts - while explosions and gunfire have been reported across the city - citizens have been told to make molotov cocktails.

Elsewhere there's been heavy fighting around the country's second city of Kharkiv - and Russia says it has seized control of a strategic airport - while President Zelenskiy made another impassioned appeal "when missiles kill our people", he declared "they kill all Europeans".

I'm Russian, feeling bitterly ashamed, devastated and humiliated by my own disgraceful and corrupted government and out-of-his-mind president. And I'd try to be extremely apologetic in front of Ukrainians if I could see even a slightest chance for us, Russians, to be ever forgiven. Alas, there's no chance, we've lost our closest siblings forever, we've betrayed our mutual thousand-year history, we are currently sending missiles to Kyiv where thousands of our own saints, princes and war heroes lie in their graves. Everything that I was raised to cherish and respect has been ruined and trampled in these two days. I can only pray for the beautiful people of Ukraine who are prepared to defend their land regardless of how mighty the aggressor is. I admire your strength, purity, dignity and love for your dear country. May God be with you. Glory to Ukraine.

I came as refugee from Croatia. Since age 9 until 18 I’ve experienced what war is. What noone will cover is torture, rape, etc. Separating men from their families and long term trauma that follows you until you die. Those who went through it know. I pray for Ukraine. This is horrible.
I remember when that was going on. I used to read about it, during 92-95 I believe. We used to have some Yugoslavians at our church. I never understood that war though. Why couldn't the people just all live together? Why did Yugoslavia break up? I know that before WWII it was the Austro-Hungarian empire. That's where I'm from, actually, Transilvania, but after WII it was made into Yugoslavia, under Tito. I understood he was more lenient. I heard that even today their is animosity between people there, the people groups. The Sirbii were against the Kosovars, the Croats and they didn't like the Macedonians. Oh boy!!! Are you from Kosovo? Lots of different factions.

It's really a trade off. Do you stay and permanently disabled and disfigured in an unwinnable war because of pride, or do you leave and live with all of your limbs intact, and try to take action against Russia in some other way? I think I'd choose the latter.
Nobody has been fighting for Ukrainians NAZIS. Second day and Russians are in Kiev. Population does not fight, troops do not fight, USA - NATO ran away to neighboring countries, almost no resistance.

I have a newfound respect for Ukrainian toughness and resiliency especially for their President-- Volodymyr Zelenskyy. When he said, I'm paraphrasing. "When you attack us, you will see our faces, not our spines", that phrase will go down in history as a critical turning point in Ukraine's future. I think that phrase rallied the people to fight and made the world believe that brave Ukraine deserves the world's support.

My father-in-law a Normandy veteran died recently. The last member of his unit to have fought in Normandy. Some 70 years after the war, he was still angry with those who had made him and his mum hide under the stairs while he, then 16, were bombed in their home in Birmingham during 1940 and 1941. The Ukrainian MPs similar experience will I suspect make her angry for the next 70 years too.

As an old US Cold War Marine, I have the greatest respect for the Ukrainian Army and the Resistance Fighters. This girl @ 10:55 is pissed and ready to fight even though she's never fired a weapon. I foolishly almost wish I were there to help these people. I can't run around and fight anymore but I can still shoot a target at about 600-700 yards.

Here is a bit of good news: water is flowing to Crimea again. The channel supplying desert peninsula has been blocked by Ukrainian government for years. They used water as a weapon against people of Crimea.

I keep thinking about buying an airline ticket to Poland and crossing over, but I don’t speak Ukrainian and have not yet heard of any foreign volunteer units being formed. I fought in Syria with the YPG in 2015-2016 and was lucky to be with an international battalion where everyone at least knew some English.

Taking up arms to fight the powerful Russian invaders takes guts and national pride of an immense scale. My thoughts are with you every step of the way as you battle this evil, though my heart bleeds to see so many innocent people suffering the dreadful effects of war. I realise you desperately need Nato troops to help you beat Putin's war machine, and it's hard not to feel both anger and embarrassment as you struggle alone. It all feels so very wrong and an affront to humanity, even though I'm aware of the reasons why Nato keeps its distance. That tank didn't "skid" and hit that car, as the commentator said, suggesting it was an accident, the tank deliberately targeted that civilian vehicle.

It is heart breaking what is happening right now and very concerning how it could escalate.
