literally how boat start up works in the Philippines. Always thought the engine had always worked that way. Turns out it had that mechanism cover thingy with its pulled up rope.
Several old engines never even bothered with the %#$#@ recoil starter - British Seagull outboards etc. Its also surprising how many new motors still have a provision to attach a cord to the flywheel when the recoil breaks. Keep your leg away from that flywheel when your riding.
is that knocking?! Get a hacksaw, cut a notch in the cup,(it wont hurt it, you can still use the recoil too), and get a grass guard from a lawnmower and put that behind the cup too.
