Finally.. somebody that didn't add unnecessary stuff and you made it short and to the point. I wish all the how-to videos were done so perfectly like this
Wow, I have never seen this chain fitting technique before. I used to help my ageing late father in his bike shop. Chain fitting was one of the hardest jobs that I did and here it is. You have made it look so easy. I wish I had seen this video years ago.
Ordered a link for a KMC 410 and it didn't look like anything I saw on RUclips, even the KMC channel. Before trying to tackle it, I wanted to watch a video for instruction and reassurance I was going down the right path on this little project. Providentially I came across your video. Viola! Thanks very much.
I just wanted to know which way to put the lock on the chain on my old 80's grannie bike. All of youtube is cluttered with pro sports bikes that have some new fancy chain lock system, so this vid was perfect for me, thanks :)
I put one on before watching this. Would've been helpful to bring the two ends together on the sprocket. Very smart! Also, I didn't know it is directional. I'll have to check that now. Thanks again!
TY for such a clean, clear video, with audible audio lol. My 66cc bike chain snapped or fell apart tonight, and this helped me fix it. I am still new to 66cc bikes, and thankfully the fella at Zoom Bikes sent a few extra parts (for free!) he thought I might need to rebuild this old 66cc gas bike, and - thank god - he sent a master link assembly (the 3 tiny pieces pictured in ur vid). I checked out a couple other vids, but nobody mentioned the last step (retaining clip) and I was really confused why I could pull the link apart with zero effort lol. Thankfully I found your video before trusting my repair job. Timing couldn't have been better to have your clear instructions and this spare part. I am broke as a joke rn and use this bike as my daily commuter :) TY again!! The main drive chain on this dinky little 66cc engine seems good as new now :)
Makes sense I kept putting the open end with the direction the chain was moving and kept having ma chain randomly snap right at the master key, thank you man imma do it right now 🙏
thank you for your video. my snow blower i bought from my future father in law the chain rusted and broke. i got enough cnfidence in your video to do the chain myself without paying some else to do it.
This helped me because yesterday I somehow broke the master link on my #35 chain and it helped thank you for being smart j do not know what I would do what the world would do if you guys in RUclips didn't exist
I am attempting to fix the chain that broke off my CT200U mini bike. There is not a Master link on this chain, unless the whole link broke off when the chain broke. I have the same clip setup as your video, however there is not enough room to use the 8 shaped link on both sides and the open ended clip. I am tempted to use just the clip(closed end facing forward,) and hold on to the 8 link until I can find longer pins or a different clip. I think my plan is okay temporarily, but can you help me understand why the pins aren't long enough OR if my theory that the whole master link broke off is correct. The kit I ordered was supposed to be for the Coleman mini bike, so not sure why there were no pins provided, not enough room for clip and the 8 link (thats closed on both sides.) Thank you in advance, I really appreciate your videos as well.
no press tool needed? just the clip and that’s it? i just ordered a non o-ring chain for a vintage honda and am wondering if i need to press the link before installing the clip … i know you don’t here in this video, but still asking for safety reasons. thanks
My dumbass was trying to clip it on off the sprocket, once you show it, it was so obvious lol. Thanks man. I'm kicking myself for not realising that myself lol
So we can do this on say a 05 ninja 636? I didn’t get why I need a chain tool and rivets if it’s currently hold on by this style clip ? Or do I still need rivets ? I’m just trying to take my chain off , clean it and reapply
Great close up photograph and lighting. Nice production. The spring clip can be harder to install than shown. Are there other ways to overcome the resistance? (NIce thumb blister!).
Regarding orientation of master link clip, what should be the orientation if the chain is moving in both directions.? As per my experience, the orientation of clip is not important. Because it holds the pins by tight spring action. The clip is not holding any pressure of force. Please let me know.
Both directions? That’s interesting. Main framework of thought is that if the leading edge scrapes on something, the force at the leading edge will either push it keeping it in place, or (if ‘backwards’) pop it off
That is so easy yeah right I'm trying to put a clip on a 415 chain and I've been trying to do it for over half an hour and going insane I have needle nose pliers
Orientation is important! Round edge facing forward,,,a bad night with my loose chain waiting for the Moto shop to open after unclipping on a slow u-turn, lost the clip 12 hours from home and texting was just as late while comms were slow, boss had no idea where I was O/O°
So if the clip isn't installed right, could that be the reason my chain keeps coming apart when driving? It's only the master link that comes off and I've ran through 3 master links in 1 week
I have a roller chain for my ct100u and the chain says 35h on it. I can't find a master link for 35h. Regular 35 is not long enough to allow the plate and retainer clip to go on. Any suggestions on where to get a master link for a 35h?
Alex R Oh man that would be freaking sweet. I am always looking for a shifter/race kart chassis on Craigslist, but they are so expensive! I'm stuck with the yard karts for now.

What other way is there?is there a harder way you used in his bike shop?
Jeez you made that look easy. I will say cheaper chains do make it harder.
@@metalrooves3651 Rivet style master links.
like the dad I never had... thank you youtube :'/
Inmortal words!!!!!
You and me bro
Who ur real dad elon musk?
I swear
Don’t worry I’ll be your daddy 😊
The best video on installing the Master link... great!
There is also a "half link"..another way to link these...it isnt explained here AT ALL
AT LAST! A simple video about installation of the link clip in just the time it should be: 1 minute. Thank you!
Ordered a link for a KMC 410 and it didn't look like anything I saw on RUclips, even the KMC channel. Before trying to tackle it, I wanted to watch a video for instruction and reassurance I was going down the right path on this little project. Providentially I came across your video. Viola! A great video that explains the best and easiest way to install a spring clip on a roller chain. Thank you very much for posting.
Today I was stuck in a dark place. And my chain was stuck with the sprocket and then I got an idea by watching this video. Thanks for saving my day.
Perfect video. Short, sweet, and covers the info for those of us that need it. THANK YOU!
I just wanted to know which way to put the lock on the chain on my old 80's grannie bike. All of youtube is cluttered with pro sports bikes that have some new fancy chain lock system, so this vid was perfect for me, thanks :)
The best video I've seen for masterlinks. Explained quick and precise!
Thank God I came across this vid. Broke my chain for first time today.
Watched some other guy explain this in 7 minutes. This is the best. Thanks!
Your welcome! Thanks for the kind words.
Could've easily added an extra 9 minutes on how hammer's hurt
Thank you, I had a huge brain moment when repairing my beach cruiser chain.
Great clip! Don’t forget the o-rings and lube.
This was obviously a non-oring chain.
So yeah, if we're doing an oring chain it's more involved....lube it up inside the link & use those o rings
Thank you for your short precise video. I figured that was the orientation of the clip. Just had to make sure.
I put one on before watching this. Would've been helpful to bring the two ends together on the sprocket. Very smart! Also, I didn't know it is directional. I'll have to check that now.
Thanks again!
Thanks for the tips
Especially on the sprocket, direction of travel
I will never forget it now

Thanks for this. First video I've seen that actually, simply explains how to do this and then simply does it.
Thanks for pointing out some important details and the tip of using the sprocket to help
thanks man, you saved me from being thrown into the mad house from being frustrated at the bike lol
yep, gotta do it the right way or you will be flinging those clips off
@@KartFab I almost did then I tuned to your channel lol
What if no matter where I put the chain the links don’t match
Thanks for the video, had all the information I needed and it was really concise. Glad I skipped the 10 minute tutorial to watch you.

bloody champion mate, never thought about putting the two ends on the sprockets

Awesome video - quick and to the point.
Thank you!
BAM! Thats how you do it. Short and simple. Thanks.
You bet
Thank you for the video it was very easy to learn the way you explained it I was cracking my head for nothing thank you very much....

We are helping generations with everlasting knowledge.
@@KartFab yea I have had to take the master link off like 100 times and bc I watched this vid once I can do it forever thanks
thank you so much for the video. I was struggling for a while, albeit, for silly reasons. helped a lot. thanks
Im not having enough room to add my piece when i add the cover i dont have enough room for the pin?
Great video Short and to the point.
Great how to! This was great for clarity, in real life, grease the pins before installing! Use the thickest moly grease you can find, repeat often.
I am attempting to fix the chain that broke off my CT200U mini bike. There is not a Master link on this chain, unless the whole link broke off when the chain broke. I've been doing this wrong all along. That would explain why my master link keeps snapping. Thank you for the info.
Good stuff, short and concise
Helped me get that chain link on so easy
Do you put any grease on the inside of the master link before putting sliding it on the chain?
Thanks from germany! Very helpful video!
Great explanation easy to see and understand
short, simple and to the point! thanks
Your humor made me laugh haha great vid thank you helped with my 87 cr500
FINALLY! A video that shows me what to do! Great video.
Is that the only master clip you can have? What about if the chain goes forward and reverse under load 13k pounds
Thank you for posting this. It saved me a ton of time and trouble!
Just a concern...can the master link come out by itself on the chain after being installed properly and on the correct direction of the set is new?
Short and to the point, perfect and thanks 👍
Bro just want to ask I figured out my chain missing those clip do I really need that? It’s very dangerous don’t have that?
My dumbass was trying to clip it on off the sprocket, once you show it, it was so obvious lol. Thanks man. I'm kicking myself for not realising that myself lol
Thank you for getting straight to the point
Nice and simple, thank you! 👍
Great tip putting it on the sprocket!
Your fix works well actually it's for my rc bike skyrc sr5 thanks video and camera quality gr8
Great simple short. THANK YOU
Easy, to the point, perfect video
Super quick and detailed enough to understand. Thank You!!
Great quick video. But….. You should always add grease to your master link pins before install. 😅 Just my thoughts 💭
Or after. Do you brush before or after flossing?
Video was simple and educational. Great job.
1divemaster1 thanks! what else do you wanna see?
At this point, I think you've got most of the topics covered w/ your videos.

Thank you very much for posting this video, you saved me time and my skin.👍😊
Nice video. My master link helps losing this clip, any suggestions?
It’s hitting something. Look for clearance issues
Do you need to press the link clip?
Omg best one out of all the videos
Great close up photograph and lighting. Nice production. The spring clip can be harder to install than shown. Are there other ways to overcome the resistance? (NIce thumb blister!).
Needle nose pliers
This is what I’m doing and they keep coming off whilst riding what would you recommend? Is it the sprockets?
Check alignment, binding, contact with sprocket
Great video straight to the point thank you
what if i need to remove some links from a chain? is that possible?
Your voice is like a soothing Owen Wilson. If you could throw in a few 'oh wows' in some of your videos that'd be terrific 😉
(Great video)
Bwhaha
Is that safe to use this link on 1000cc bike ?
Sweet about to install one tomorrow on my mini bike
No gaskets between the master link?
Are master links expensive? I lost one of the locks when i was riding my bmx and i couldn't fine a spare part
Nah they are pretty cheap
Regarding orientation of master link clip, what should be the orientation if the chain is moving in both directions.?

You Sir, are awesome! Thank you for the informative video.
I thought I put it on backwards. Lol. Also there's no room for the plate and master clip. Any suggestions?
Put the plate on the other side? If not you will need to get a chain breaker and just make the chain one continuous loop.
That is so easy yeah right I'm trying to put a clip on a 415 chain and I've been trying to do it for over half an hour and going insane I have needle nose pliers
Marco Morote I’m about to change my chain as well.. after reading this comment I can’t wait to see what fun lies ahead haha

Rubbing on something
@@KartFab ok I'll trouble shoot some more thank you for the reply
Now how do I take off the retainer clip?
I like to use middle nose pliers for installation and removal of retaining clip
Do you have a link to the wheel hub your using for your kart. That included the sprocket
check out the kits here, they list the parts out individually kartfab.com/go-kart-plans
Where did you get that rim with the sprocket?
click the link in description and look for "free go kart plans", it came in a kit, but you can get it separately.
Thanks a lot man, I needed it to fix my go kart!
Great video!! It helped out alot..fought it forever then did what you did went right on
Great video. Concise and very Informative!
Did the pins go through rollers or did they have no rollers were the pins went in?
The pins with back plate go through the roller chain.
What size master link is that.?
fast and easy explaining
very simple and very helpful
I have a roller chain for my ct100u and the chain says 35h on it. I can't find a master link for 35h. Regular 35 is not long enough to allow the plate and retainer clip to go on. Any suggestions on where to get a master link for a 35h?
I would call a few shops that deal with chains, like small equipment repair or ones that do hydraulic hoses.
I feel so dumb for having to look this up😂 thank you
That makes 3600 of us
Sounds great can't wait for it
Hell yea bro great$##:#!#'$$ JOB! this thing was making me crazy you saved the night sometimes a lil bit goes along way
Was putting a tube in the back of my bike, put the chain to the side and it popped off.
Where can i go to buy a new master link
I'd like to see videos geared towards racing karts! Pretty much same concept since primarily dirt oval is clone based powerplants.
Alex R Oh man that would be freaking sweet. I am always looking for a shifter/race kart chassis on Craigslist, but they are so expensive! I'm stuck with the yard karts for now.
