Looking back on when I was in your description is incredibly accurate; I grew up in this faith. I remember bing either in my late teens or early 20s, and the issue of oral sex came up. I was already not in agreement with the dating rules; my train of thought was if I'm suppose to jump though all these hoops in dating someone, then to tell me what I and my wife can do in a martial bed? So I decided that no one would tell me and whoever I would marry what we would do, and why in the hell am I telling anyone, especially another man, what I do in the bedroom? No kissing and maybe no hand-holding? To me, that wasn't very easy and drove me to date outside the organization as well as having a chaperone. How do you get to know someone when a thrid wheel is around? Yes, it is sickening that vial people can hide in the organization, and it's more sickening that victims have been disfellowshiped because they were told to keep quiet but didn't.

Because we really didn't know each other ....our likes or dislikes , awkward , always having our best foot forward one could say , we didn't have much of a chance . Sex or the lack of it also played a large part of our problems , what was ok and not ok . When I finally confronting her parents on this issue , I was shocked when her mother looked at me and said " Well you got two kids " as though having sex twice in the marriage is enough , then when still arguing about her insane attitude about sex , her last response to me was " We're not animals" . I told her that she was out of her F....in mind . Her husband who was a severe alcoholic and had a problem and had been counseled about putting his hands on the sisters inappropriately , and I later believed also with his own daughter could only stare at the floor. The society doesn't understand that those of the opposite sex need to become friends first , and in being around others on their good days and on not so good days and this doesn't happen in 3 or 4 dates before announcing an engagement . As my boys entered their teen years , I told them that they could date girls , chaperoned of course , so that they could grow out of that awkward stage that so many of us went through and really get to know the girls they might go out with . I've heard some pretty stupid excuses when in the early 80's , their was a lot of don'ts when it came to sex in the bedroom. One was if gays do it , it's not ok . My response to that primitive line of thinking was in asking " Do Gays Kiss ?, hold hands ? Dress provocatively for each other ? Stimulate each other ? Hug ? Caress each other ? I strongly agree. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that a man and wife should abstain from “what is considered unlawful in God’s eyes among homosexuals.” They are not lying with the same sex! And it is between legally married Christian consenting adults. It is no one else’s business what a married couple does in their own home. My marriage at the age of 17 was the only way I could DATE a JW who was 23 in my congregation, because every time you went anywhere as a group we were always being told in the “back room” at the next meeting that we were “singling ourselves out of the crowd.” How? We stayed together as a group, and couldn’t discuss anything you would want to know about what we were looking for in a mate, etc.. So after meeting each other in June at a wedding, we got married that November to get the elders “off our backs” about wanting to date. My mother (baptized single parent) signed for me to get married underaged because she could see where their sick twisted distortion of the scriptures was headed. That marriage was the worst 21 years of my life. I finally left the organization to get away from the physical, mental and psychological abuser I married from among the “flock of God.” There was absolutely no opportunity to get to know him as a person…After marriage I found out he left our neighboring congregation to join the Navy, received a discharge stating mental issues, and the physical abuse had me in the hospital with broken bones within 6 months. But I was counseled that I had to keep putting up with it because he hadn’t committed adultery. The very principles that the JW’s proudly uphold from the Bible are their OWN interpretation of their OWN translation of the Bible. I’m so proud/thankful I found myself again after one f____ up ride for 40 years!

It is funny you mention this in the mid week meeting they spoke about this in the study book, it was very detailed, what I agree on is married people should stay faithful. It is funny you mention this in the mid week meeting they spoke about this in the study book, it was very detailed, what I agree on is married people should stay faithful. I mean they forgot children are in the meeting it looks like they needed a separate meeting, for kids so they have thier own version.
