This video came at the perfect time ❤️ My husband and I just pulled our 4 year old out of his preschool and I’m on my 4th day of homeschooling him. He had a friend in preschool teaching him some horrible behavior and his personality was changing so much. He’s so much sweeter now that he’s home. I absolutely love your content and find such peace watching you, so thank you 😊
I have total faith in you Kendra, you will be an amazing teacher and do a fantastic job, and frankly you've been their teacher from the moment of their births........wishing you and the kids all the best...
If there's one thing I love about the homeschooling community it is that everyone is so encouraging! It has been the best blessing for our family. We homeschooled for pre k last year. And enrolled her in kindergarten in public school and ended pulling her out. I love hearing everyone's different journey.
My (recently turned) 5 year old daughter is also in dance and tennis! She is in a young fives program at her preschool that is 2.5 hrs a day. I do homeschool-type activities with her at home in the afternoons. I’m a former teacher and I love learning myself. I love that you mentioned that you focus on fostering their love of learning and not dreading school. Thanks for sharing your homeschool journey!
Great video! Your approach is awesome! I am so passionate about homeschooling but really just getting started too. We’ve been using All About Reading levels 1 and 2 with my son (he’s in 1st grade now) and we’ve absolutely loved it. I did try their pre reading program for my preschool daughter and wasn’t too impressed with that. So i’d say skip the pre reading and start with level 1 if you choose All About Reading. We’ve also been loving Sonlight for science and history. It’s so nice to be able to pick and choose what you and your kids love for curriculum!
I'm in year 5 of homeschooling two boys. I highly recommend Cathy Duffy's book 102 Top Picks for curriculum. It's exhaustive and easier to navigate than her site.
So glad you made this video. I have a 4 (will be 5 in February) year old and he’s in PreK right now. I am not loving his school environment and my husband and I are very much considering homeschooling.
FYI my son and Owen are the same age and he too has been extremely whiny and clingy lately. Hopefully it gets better soon because yes it is very exhausting. My home school days are very relaxed. My daughter is 4 so we do about 4 days a week right now and we do as much work as she likes to. Some days all she wants to do is her school work while others she’s done in 20 mins lol. I think when she gets older our days will become more structured but I love the freedom right now. I’m really hoping to find a co op in my area of Fontana. ☺️ thank you so much for sharing I really appreciate it.
We use Logic of English (pretty similar to All About Reading from what others have told me) and we have really enjoyed it so far. I use TGATB for Math, but chose LoE for reading. Love your videos! (And, I'm also a Cal Poly SLO grad!)
Something I’m running in to is a lack of social groups local to me. My church doesn’t have anything specific and lots of local to me places don’t. I know there’s Facebook groups I could join for the area. Did you find anything from that type of group? My daughter will be in kindergarten in the fall and we’re considering homeschool. She’s loving her traditional preschool this year which is 3 hours 3 days a week so I’m on the fence if the homeschool setting would be enough for her for kindergarten. So many things to weigh in on! Such a hard choice.
So what exactly curriculum are you using for their age. I’m about to just bite the bullet and get some. Been looking and kinda in denial that I’m going to be a homeschool mom. My 4 year old thrives on that learning structure but I really don’t know where to start. I’ve researched my self paralyzed if that’s a thing and am so intimated.
