I really love the way you talk about books and anything you're passionate about!! The way you light up when you talk about something you really love is a piece of magic residing in your eyes!! Love you Carrie
Currently reading "How to be a heroine" by Samantha Ellis. It's about her re-reading all the classics like Pride & Prejudice, the Little Mermaid, Wuthering Heights, ... and finding out what she learned from the female characters in those books and what it takes to be a literary heroine. :) Absolutely enjoying it!
hopefully, I wish to finish reading the Percy Jackson series and the Miss Peregrine's series and hopefully start the Shater Me series and read more girly/contmperary novels :) any reccomendations?
Meghan Robertshaw Not especially girly but my favourite contemporary is Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I would tell you about it, but it's one of those books you want to go into knowing nothing.
If you're into sci-fi and fairy tales, I'd recommend the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer! All of the books have very strong female characters in them, and they are all spins on classic fairy tales. Enjoy!!
Maybe A Fox sounds magical & I'm also a big fan of Mindy Kaling. I've seen all of The Mindy Project (second half of season 5 comes on in Feb if you need to catch up)! Let me know if her book is great! :D x
Im so happy that you've done a video based on books, I have missed them. I would love to see videos on what you thought of these books once you have read them! xxx
One book I really want to read soon is Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult! I have a copy sitting on my desk at the moment and I haven't started it yet, but it looks so interesting and I'm just so excited to read it! I adore Jodi Picoult novels!
Maddy Gowers snap. Picked up my copy today (along with finally getting my hands on a copy of The Christmasaurus), but I don't know when I'll actually get round to reading it in the middle of doing my MSc. I struggle to pick my favourite book by Jodi
Maddy Gowers if I had to choose it would either be The Storyteller or Lone Wolf, but the first book of hers that I read was Vanishing Acts and i loved that as well.
I have so so many books to read next year, and still to read this year! Too many books, too little time! I commend you finding the time to read with your busy schedule!
definitely at the top is the Christmassuars, and Winter's Snow! Then me before you and after you (huge fan of the film) and anything else new that comes out.
Four Waifs on Our Doorstep is a book writen by my grandmother. It is one of the best books I have ever read and it keeps getting better. It then follows on with The Cast-Off Kids. A series of books really worth reading. And there could even be a third if you get my drift..
Mindy Kaling's book killed me. It's the reason I started watching the US Office and I can't get enough! Really looking forward to reading more of her work.
I have so many books to read!!! Pretty much every book on my book shelf I haven't read, at the moment I'm currently reading the shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella and they're amazing. Love how you can start anywhere from the series and automatically understand stand what's happening and what happened in the previous book.
for some reason this felt incredibly nostalgic to the time you sat on your bed and went through books you've bought or liked etc. please make more videos about books if you read more in 2017 :)
The Scott Westerfield books (not mentioned in the video but i've seen them in your backgrounds a few times) are what really started me on what I like to call "my creative splurge" as before that I was far more of an academic child , but here I am now planning on doing GSCE Drama , Art and Media Studies
i can't believe even with all that you've had time to read, i mean, i am in college, so i get that i really don't have time to read but god do i wish i did, i love reading, i miss reading, and i just can't wait till i'm home in less than a week and i can spend it curled up under a blanket with a cup (lets be honest, i'll probably have to make several cups) of tea and a book (or honestly, several as i have many books i want and need to read/finish) by the bay window in my living room. I LOVE your book videos Carrie! i always add them to a youtube playlist i have with john green and some other people's book recs that I go through it every time I can't figure out a book to read (though i'm currently finishing one series, halfway trough another and beginning a third, so i'm not sure when the next time i'll have to check is, but i'm glad to have the list all the same)
Carrie please do a vlog of a list of your all time favourite books! I love your tastes and definitely want to read more. I need something to distract myself, so I would love to see your favourites! Xx
Because of you I read All My Friends Are Superheroes and it instantly became my fave stand alone of all time. I work in a book store so I had the store get a large quantity and I push it on everyone I think would like it... I love it so much.
ooooh the regulars sounds very interesting! for 2017, I'm wanting to read the little women letters by gabrielle donnelly, the infinite moment of us by lauren myracle, between the lines/off the page by jodi picoult, and re-read jack and louisa acts 1&2 by andrew keenan-bolger and kate wetherhead (:
'Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me' is a brilliant book. Mindy published her second book earlier this year, which I have yet to read. Good choice, Carrie!
I loved Mindy Kaling's book! It was such a breeze to read. It was sort of like listening to that friend who talks so much you can't get a word in edgewise, but you just enjoy their enthusiasm so much that you don't mind just sitting back and listening to them talk :)
All these books sound so intriguing!! Thanks for bringing them to my attention, Carrie! :) I am reading a lot of non-fiction at the moment, but I hope to really curl up with good fiction books during Christmastime and early 2017!
On book I haven't finished because of school but started months ago, is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and it is all in one, a mystery, romance, historical fiction, with a little element of the fantastical. And its also a bit spooky. I found it the exact same way the main character stumbles across a book (which is the main subject and also called Shadow of the Wind). I was browsing a used bookstore for nothing in particular, a library edition of the book already in my backpack, when all of a sudden, this book pops out of nowhere. I of course had to buy it!
I have a really long list of books to read in 2017 the first one of which, is yours carrie "on the other side" and then there's the second book in the red queen series "the glass sword" and a couple of other books I cant wait to read.
I really enjoyed this :) I would love more videos like this - they give me ideas and can start conversations and its cool ^_^ I would love you to talk about (maybe you could do this during this vlogmas) more things that you are planning for the year ahead, aside from books, in more detail? Like new years resolutions I suppose, but also what you have learned from 2016? I would be super interested to hear what you're leaving behind in 2016 and what you're taking through to 2017! Your content is always great, by the way, I think you're one of few RUclipsrs that I watch who are remaining consistently interesting and not resorting to clickbait or anything like that :) Really, really, really enjoying vlogmas! I look forward to your videos every day, and I love how the content varies x
On The Other Side is still on my to read list. I bought it when it came out and haven't got round to reading it yet. it's the first one I'm going to read next year. Also on my to read next year list are The Boleyn Inheritance by Phillippa Gregory and One Hundred Names by Cecelia Aherne.
I've got soooo many books in my TBR pile! The one's I'm most excited about reading are: God Omens - Neil Gaman & Terry Pratchett The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater Six of Crows - Leigh Bardugo The Trees - Ali Shaw And I want to read The Night Circus again because it's definitely one of my FAVOURITE books ever! Such a beautiful and magical read :) x
I'm very excited to read Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald, which is a book I've been given for the Dutch holiday of Sinterklaas. The blurb is so exciting and right up my alley, talking about a haunted island on Nova Scotia, the battlefields of WW1 to the emerging jazz scene in NYC together with a "mythically charged family".
Hey Carrie a while back you started a by the way... series and I was wondering if you were planning any more of those? I love your videos keep up the good work. Luna xxx
The Portrait of Dorian Grey film frightened the bejesus out of me when I was a kid. We had a box room at the top of the stairs and I would jump from the second to last step to my bedroom as quick as humanly possible as I was convinced there was something lurking in there lol. I still have On the other side, Winter's snow and the Christmasaurus to read yet! :0) x
Gaahhhh love this Carrie! As a homeschooled high school student I have plenty of time to read, and I've really tried to utilize that time well. So far I've read 95 books this year, and hopefully by January I will have read 100! (A little over 43,000-49,000 pages) - Next year my goal is to read more nonfiction. I'm trying to just read read read because I know I won't have much time when I'm in college and an adult. But I love hearing other people's reading lists! I think I might steal a few of these for my last 5 books!
I've had your book, On the Other Side, on my reading list since I got my copy in the mail from the UK! I'm in the US and I didn't know when I would be able to get a copy here. I've been so busy with school and being in theatre performances that I've had no time to read. When I went to London on my study abroad last year, the first thing I did was buy a copy of All I Know Now and read it immediately. I loved it! I met you after a performance of Les Mis and told you how big a fan of you I am. I can't wait to read On the Other Side!
Finally a book recommendation video with books that actually interest me. I haven't read a book in so long and I've been trying to find books to get me back into reading again. Thank goodness for this video! 😀
I've missed your videos about books you're reading! 😊 You seem to love the same kind of books as me, so you're my go-to for recommendations for new ones! I want all of these now!!
I'm in the middle of reading The Christmasaurus at the minute .. I've also started On The Other Side and I have Me Before you waiting for when I'm finished them both! Very excited for Gi's book Happy Mum Happy Baby in February xxx
i read one million lovely letters cause it was recommended by you and honestly it was the best book i've read in so long. currently reading on the other side but due to a family oassing had to stop for a little while however,i thankyou for writing such an incredible book and for sharing your recomendations. keep being you.
when talking about the first book you should definitely visit prague! i'm currently living here and it is seriously the most beautiful city one can visit. especially during christmas time!
same and I'm now thinking im going to get offline and read... I need to read more, I miss it. All these books have been added to my amazon wish list xx
I've already read Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking trilogy and loved it. However, I have my mock exams in January and want to actually buy them as celebration!
Yay! I love your bookish videos and I can't wait for On the Other Side to one day be published in the U.S. so I can get my hands on it! I also haven't heard of most of these books, so thank you for introducing me to them :D
I bought about 10 books yesterday that are new to me, and I have a whole box of others that I haven't read. I feel so bad because I was just so busy this year and not interested in reading and I miss it very much. I'm hoping to start one of the books I picked up soon, It's called "Faceless" and I can't remember the author.
When you were talking about the darkness in the last book all I could think about was: what happened to the people in on the other side that were stuck in the corridor!? (Massive fan of your writing by the way the book is phenomenal👌) xx
A book I am RIDICULOUSLY excited to read is the third book in a series, A Court of Wings and Ruin! The other books were the most amazing books I have ever read and the third one cones out in 143 days!!!!
Books I rec from 2016 (published within the last few years): -"Cinder" by: Marissa Meyer (it's the first in a series of sci-fi fairytale retellings) -"The Boleyn King" by: Laura Andersen -"A Court of Thorns and Roses" by: Sarah J. Maas (wish I could just recommend you the sequel, but this one needs to be read first for it to make sense!) -"The Assassin's Blade" by: Sarah J. Maas (first in a series) -"Dash and Lily's Book of Dares" by: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan -"The Hating Game" by: Sally Thorne (just came out last month and is seriously SO good) -"Heartless" by: Marissa Meyer (retelling/story of how the Queen of Hearts because the Queen of Hearts) -"Everything, Everything" by: Nicola Yoon Books I'm looking forward to in 2017 (I'm sure they'll be more as the year goes, but these are what I have on my to-read currently): -last book in the Throne of Glass series (which The Assassin's Blade belongs too, rec'd that above) -"A Court of Wings and Ruin" by: Sarah J. Maas (3rd book in the Court series, also rec'd above) -"Alex and Eliza: A Love Story" by: Melissa de la Cruz -"Eliza: The Story of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton" by: Margaret McNamara (it's a childrens book)
The Regulars sounds like a mix of Rhymes with Witches by Lauren Myracle, Beauty by Nancy Ohlin, and Messanger by Lois Lowry - the first one in plot, and the latter two in theme. Although Rhymes with Witches isn't Lauren Myracle's best book (she also wrote ttyl and ttfn), perhaps it can also serve as some inspiration for that next novel!
a book i love (just listened to the audio and wanna reread it) is I Was a Rat by phillip pullman, the most enchanting story i just love it so much and when you realise what it is it just lifts it even more. but 2017 i need to reread les miserables of course, and read a few other books i've bought myself
Is Everyone Hanging out Without me is such a great book. I actually laughed out loud while reading the book in public. Her second book 'Why Not Me' is also really good. Books on my 2017 list actually include yours and Gi's books. I have All I Know Now, You're the one That I Want, and Billy and Me. I've have them all since they came out but just haven't had much time to read with all of my classes
IDK how to spell out the sound for her name but Carrie you were right the second time you pronounced Kahling. I also need to get to that book because I love the Mindy Project and that book has been on my shelf awhile. I have such a long list for 2017 but some priorities are catching up on A Song of Ice and Fire and Outlander and Poldark series as well as reading more Discworld and Agatha Christie. Then some stand-alones on my list are Pillars of the Earth, Les Miserables, Count of Monte Cristo, some other classics as well as The Thirteenth Tale and some Susanna Kearsley books.
I just bought The Regulars at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and totally forgot you made a video about this! That's so cool we have the same taste in books. So far, I love it. I'm only a few chapters in. I hope you do as well. xx
I went to daycare with Allison McGhee's (Maybe a Fox) daughter for a while many years ago! I was so surprised to hear you mention her! Such a small world :) She and her family are lovely :)
Mindy Kay-ling not Kah-ling. This year I devoured all of Sharon Boltons books. She writes crime thrillers and they're so fantastic. Highly recommend if you like a good mystery. I have Anna Kendrick, Lauren Graham, and Mara Wilsons memoirs to start off next year with. :)
Thank you for the video I needed this inspiration to start reading again! I can only ever go off of recommendations for some reason so this will be helpful. Keep up the good work Carrie!
"I am above the age of ten" no word of a lie! Also, my local Waterstones here in Cork still hasn't got Winters Snow!!! They said all the other Irish waterstones got theirs and it should arrive on Monday... Three weeks ago!
On the Other Side is definitely one of my books for next year! On a side note, one of my favorites is Jane by April Lindner. It's a modern reselling of Jane Eyre and I love it. It's definitely a 16+ book, but if you're over that age and enjoy classic literature/modern retellings, I think you'd quite like it.
If you need more inspiration Beauty by Nancy Ohlin is a YA novel with a similar theme to The Regulars, it's a fairy tale theme and I loved it when I was 12 and still re-visit it! Lovely list of books, will have to add some to my list too! 😘
Yay a bookish video :) awesome choices Carrie :D I know what you mean about reading middle grade and it feeling magical. I find it so comfortable reading children's books. I've just started reading Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and I'm loving it so far :) xx
I've read it and it's a GREAT book! Happy reading! xxx
This video makes me want to live in a book shop.
A Year and a Day actually takes place around Christmas time. I recommend reading it now; it'll definitely get you in the Christmas mood
hopefully, I wish to finish reading the Percy Jackson series and the Miss Peregrine's series and hopefully start the Shater Me series and read more girly/contmperary novels :) any reccomendations?
Meghan Robertshaw Not especially girly but my favourite contemporary is Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. I would tell you about it, but it's one of those books you want to go into knowing nothing.
oh, okay, I'll check it out thankyou :)
If you're into sci-fi and fairy tales, I'd recommend the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer! All of the books have very strong female characters in them, and they are all spins on classic fairy tales. Enjoy!!
I second the suggestion for the lunar chronicles!! Really awesome books!
yeah wasn't too sure about that series, I might check them out too
Maybe A Fox sounds magical & I'm also a big fan of Mindy Kaling. I've seen all of The Mindy Project (second half of season 5 comes on in Feb if you need to catch up)! Let me know if her book is great! :D x

Anjali Mehra mine would be either Perfect Match or House Rules! Probably House Rules because it's just so gripping!
Maddy Gowers if I had to choose it would either be The Storyteller or Lone Wolf, but the first book of hers that I read was Vanishing Acts and i loved that as well.
It is an incredible book! I went to a watch a talk by her and what she said about it was so inspiring!
Carrie you're making me want to read!!! You get so excited when talking about books and it's great!
I have so so many books to read next year, and still to read this year! Too many books, too little time! I commend you finding the time to read with your busy schedule!
Every book vlog you do I end up reading half of the books you talk about. Just finished the night circus. AMAZING!
I for sure want to read the martha lost one as I loved Arthur Braxton! Cannot wait for the movie!! x
definitely at the top is the Christmassuars, and Winter's Snow! Then me before you and after you (huge fan of the film) and anything else new that comes out.
I really want to read the 5th book in the throne of glass series, empire of storms and I want to read frozen Charlotte💗

becca G Pleeeeaaase tell us D:
becca G I think she's said before in previous videos. I'm sure she said she uses mousse. I dunno if anything else.

becca G she's done a video called "curly hair routine" where she goes through her hair styling routine
literally started reading a year and a day yesterday, so far so good!!
Because of you I read All My Friends Are Superheroes and it instantly became my fave stand alone of all time. I work in a book store so I had the store get a large quantity and I push it on everyone I think would like it... I love it so much.

Mindy Kaling's book is amazing!! I actually listened to it on audiobook, and it was so much fun.

God Omens - Neil Gaman & Terry Pratchett

And I want to read The Night Circus again because it's definitely one of my FAVOURITE books ever! Such a beautiful and magical read :) x
I really want to finish the Lunar Chronicles and I'm currently reading On the Other Side, which I finally got to read after being so busy!
Mindy's book is so funny, so many laugh out loud moments. I got her second one for Christmas last year and still haven't gotten round to reading it
I'm very excited to read Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie MacDonald, which is a book I've been given for the Dutch holiday of Sinterklaas. same and I'm now thinking im going to get offline and read... I need to read more, I miss it. All these books have been added to my amazon wish list xx
Sounds like a plan to me! :)
I've already read Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking trilogy and loved it. However, I have my mock exams in January and want to actually buy them as celebration!
Always love Carrie's book recommendations. Can anyone suggest vlogs with Carrie's similar reading list?
Yay! I love your bookish videos and I can't wait for On the Other Side to one day be published in the U.S. so I can get my hands on it! I also haven't heard of most of these books, so thank you for introducing me to them :D
What does it mean to chair an event?
my 2017 reading will mostly contain classics. I just started reading great expectations and I love it. any recommendations?
Mindy Kaling wrote a wonderful book. It was so wonderful I bought her second book as soon as it hit the shelves.
Have you ever used the website Goodreads? I always use it to find new books and keep track of what I want to read next
Books I rec from 2016 (published within the last few years):
-"Cinder" by: Marissa Meyer (it's the first in a series of sci-fi fairytale retellings)
-"The Boleyn King" by: Laura Andersen
-"A Court of Thorns and Roses" by: Sarah J. Maas (wish I could just recommend you the sequel, but this one needs to be read first for it to make sense!)
-"The Assassin's Blade" by: Sarah J. Maas (first in a series)
-"Dash and Lily's Book of Dares" by: Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
-"The Hating Game" by: Sally Thorne (just came out last month and is seriously SO good)
-"Heartless" by: Marissa Meyer (retelling/story of how the Queen of Hearts because the Queen of Hearts)
-"Everything, Everything" by: Nicola Yoon
Books I'm looking forward to in 2017 (I'm sure they'll be more as the year goes, but these are what I have on my to-read currently):
-last book in the Throne of Glass series (which The Assassin's Blade belongs too, rec'd that above)
-"A Court of Wings and Ruin" by: Sarah J. Maas (3rd book in the Court series, also rec'd above)
-"Alex and Eliza: A Love Story" by: Melissa de la Cruz
-"Eliza: The Story of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton" by: Margaret McNamara (it's a childrens book)
I love you Carrie! You are the best! You inspire me so so much!
Mindy's book is wonderful, as is her follow-up, "Why Not Me?" !
The Regulars sounds like a mix of Rhymes with Witches by Lauren Myracle, Beauty by Nancy Ohlin, and Messanger by Lois Lowry - the first one in plot, and the latter two in theme.
Although Rhymes with Witches isn't Lauren Myracle's best book (she also wrote ttyl and ttfn), perhaps it can also serve as some inspiration for that next novel!
mindy kaling's book os amazing!! and youll love the following book after that one called "why not me?"
its so good !!!!!
a book i love (just listened to the audio and wanna reread it) is I Was a Rat by phillip pullman, the most enchanting story i just love it so much and when you realise what it is it just lifts it even more. but 2017 i need to reread les miserables of course, and read a few other books i've bought myself
Yeah, it's KAY-ling, not KAH-ling.
I just bought The Regulars at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and totally forgot you made a video about this! That's so cool we have the same taste in books. So far, I love it. I'm only a few chapters in. I hope you do as well. xx
I literally want to read ALL of these ASAP ! Xx💜💜
I went to daycare with Allison McGhee's (Maybe a Fox) daughter for a while many years ago! I was so surprised to hear you mention her! Such a small world :) She and her family are lovely :)
You guys have to read City of Bones from The Mortal Instruments series
More book videos please😍😍
Hi Carrie, I was wondering if you've ever read any of Cecelia Ahern's books? She is one of my favourite authors and I am obsessed with her books!
I am a huge Paige Toon fan. I also love The Fallen book series too.
Ah I love that book by Mindy Kaling! Enjoy!!!
Yay a bookish video :) awesome choices Carrie :D I know what you mean about reading middle grade and it feeling magical. I find it so comfortable reading children's books. I've just started reading Black Beauty by Anna Sewell and I'm loving it so far :) xx
Please do a cover of I WISH I WAS A PUNK ROCKER. I think it would really suit your voice. I love you so much and you are the reason I love to read.
All of those books look so great I wanna read them all
Where do you take your time to read?
The last book reminds me of OUAT- "All magic comes with a price"!!
Finish the LOTR series, read more of Giovanna's books and hopefully the Miss peregrines series! More Neil Gaiman books too!
