Thank you for raising awareness about this Carrie! Recently I've had an early form (Stage 2) of cancer removed and I'm okay now but it is Vital that people do detect the early signs and are aware if something's not right.. Thank you again xx
Last year at age 37, I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and DID NOT feel a lump. IN ADDITION to monthly self exams, please also check for skin changes such as redness, and dimpling of the skin. If you see/feel ANY changes, PLEASE GET IT CHECKED! There is No reason to be embarrassed. It's so important.
JustMe I am, thanks! Almost finished with treatment, no evidence of disease. Without my awesome doctors, amazing medications, my faith, and loyal support system, I would not be here right now. So much more funding and research is needed to treat stage 4 metastatic. Coppafeel is awesome.
This may be a pathetically honest comment, but whenever I'm going through a hard time - as I am currently, I watch Carrie's videos and feel so much better. Carrie's such a warm, positive, bubbly presence. I'm sure loads of other subscribers feel the same?
I admire you for doing this. You have so many young fans who don't realise how easy it is to get breast cancer even when you're young and that checking your boobs is even important at all and they all need to hear this from someone who they know really cares for people, especially her viewers and I can't thank you enough for doing this. You're an angel.
This is so inspirational. You are such an amazing person for supporting the cause. Love you Carrie for being so so kind and caring about your fellow ladies :)
It's so great that you're raising awareness of this Carrie. Such an important cause. You will have raised so much awareness with this video no doubt and ofc hopefully money which is pretty great really
Such a wonderful charity, we need to keep telling Kris' story and keep spreading the message to check our boobs! You're never too young to find a lump, I was 19! The boob team are doing a brilliant job! xx
I work in a hospital on a ward which specialises in patients suffering with cancer...for the patients I look after which suffer with breast cancer I tell them about coppafeel for extra support and they are all so appreciated. I was able to do that because of videos like this carrie so thank u for raising awareness which allows us to pass on xx
I found out about Coppafeel through Gi and since she started talking about it I definitely check myself regularly, whereas it never really occurred to me to do so beforehand. Hearing about Kris and how she was diagnosed in her early 20's made me realise how important it really is to check yourself on a regular basis.
So nice to see high profile people talking about Coppafeel!! I've been involved with them for about a year now, and also help run my Uni Boob Team, it's an amazing charity. This video made me so happy!!💖💖💖
Checking your boobs is SO important. And if you think you've found something when checking your boobs, even if you're not really sure, don't hesitate to go to your doctor about it! I went when I found a lump and I was a bit scared, but the appointment wasn't at all uncomfortable. Here's what happens, just to demystify the process a bit. :) You go in, you tell them you think you've found a breast lump, they call in a chaperone and you go behind a curtain to take your top off. The doctor does a visual exam to check for dimpling or other symptoms before using their fingertips to gently press around your boob and armpit area looking for abnormalities. You go and put your top back on, and the doctor will sum up what they found, if anything. For me, they confirmed I had a lump and booked me a referral for an ultrasound scan. Much the same happened at the hospital (curtains, chaperones, breast exam), apart from they circled where the lump was with a biro (so high-tech! :P) and sent me through to the ultrasound room. You disrobe again, lie back, the technician puts gel on the area, and then examines the image on the screen to make a diagnosis. My lump turned out to be a benign tumour rather than anything serious, so I was sent off with a leaflet and practically skipped to my morning lecture! :P
A close friend of mine is currently at the hospital after getting a lump in one of her breasts removed. She's only 19 so it can happen at any age + you should always get a second (or third) opinion if you get checked and don't have a good feeling despite the doctor telling you that everything's fine. This is so important.
thank you carrie for this! my mother was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer when I was 7. She is now almost a 10 yr cancer survivor and I'm turning 18 in a month. Cancer is something that I'm not afraid to talk about but I am so worried about one day being diagnosed with it. Thank you so much for bringing awareness to such an important topic
Just wanted to add men can also get breast cancer! All the wonderful advice and sentiments Carrie has expressed so eloquently in this P4A apply to you too gents, so please make sure you don't forget to do the basic checks. Love that you're supporting this cause Carrie, the work that coppafeel do to raise awareness and teach how to self-check is literally life saving x
wow I'm so sorry. my moms also a cancer survivor 10 yrs now... are you worried about your increased risk of getting cancer? for me its not something that I think about day to day but is always there in the back of my mind. I was 7 when my mom was first diagnosed and it scares me to think that someday I might have to tell my kids that I have a illness that can kill me.... idk but I really would like to hear your input
tess rzeszutko I honestly don't think about it much. I was 3 when my mom was diagnosed (which makes me really old now 😂😂). We have done some testing and found that my mom does not carry the BRCA gene, which means that the cancer is not genetic, which is good. My mom runs a support group of all kinds of women that are survivors of breast cancer. (We all say that from the moment you are diagnosed, you are a survivor.) They range anywhere from a day to over 25 years cancer free. So I've honestly grown up in this group and I probably know more about breast cancer than others do at my age. I think more than anything, I am scared that my mom will get cancer again, because idk if I could handle going through that again.
At 22 I found a lump round the side of my breast, so did the right thing and went to the GP to get it checked. Luckily the Dr who I saw was still in training and spent a long time located exactly where, how big and how hard the lump was while also assessing my glands, general health and stage of menstrual cycle (all contributing factors). She referred me to a specialist at my hospital and (as a healthcare professional myself) I'm quite ashamed to say that they pretty much dismissed my worry and claimed it was very rare for someone of my age to get breast cancer. He felt for the lump, insisted there was nothing there but would send me for a scan just to 'put my mind at rest'............NINE!!!!! Nine lumps were found in my breast when I had the scan. I am incredibly relieved to report that they are just little cysts, but my point is that you MUST push and insist on a thorough examination and check because if these specialists miss lumps then that is where most peoples journey ends.
I always forget to check, but I am going to try harder to remember. I seem to always remember when I am in a public place, though. Great video, Carrie!
Yes! Erase the stigma of squishing about on your breasts to keep yourself safe! (Some people might feel there's not a stigma... but I certainly have felt that in the past!) Love you, Carrie! Xxx
Coppafeel did some promo at my university and it was what caused me to have a squeeze and discover a lump in my breast. I was sent for a scan and diagnosed with breast pain, thank the lord. (Basically where some ladies get more dense breast tissue in areas and it can be painful) I still keep a close eye on it and this campaign potentially saved my life.
I want to donate but the website asks which us state I live in. I'm not from the us. I'm probably just being stupid right now but can someone pls help me? :) Also, can you only pay by credit card? Thanks hopefuls x
Boob-Ninja! Awesome :) thanks for raising awareness! Too many women (and men!) have to suffer and even die because of breast cancer and it's so important to check yourself and get checked regularly!
Hey Carrie, sorry to post something non-content related, but I noticed you still link Carrie's Book Club in the description to your videos. I thought you said a while back it had come to an end :/ Is that just an oversight, or did I miss something? Have a lovely day :)
After watching this video I checked my breasts and found a significant lump on my right breast, I'm going to go and get it checked now, very nervous though :(
Ugh, I know how you feel. :/ I found a lump in Autumn 2015 and I was terrified. :( Definitely get it checked because if it is something serious it's easier to treat if it's found quickly, but try not to stress out about it too much (which I know is far easier said than done!!!). We often jump straight from "breast lump" to "OMG cancer" because it's the most serious outcome, but only 1 in 10 lumps are cancerous. People can get breast lumps for a wide variety of reasons. It could be a cyst or an abscess, a benign (non-cancerous) tumour, a fatty lump, or something similar. Mine turned out to be a benign fibroadenoma tumour, as did my sister's. :) I actually bought one of those adult colouring books to stop me from stressing out between my doctor's appointment and my ultrasound appointment. You could try something similar, or anything else that you personally find helpful for stressbusting. Talking to family or friends about it can help too. I was lucky enough to have my medical student friend as a flatmate, and she kept reminding me how unlikely it was to actually be cancer.
I've never understood why there separate charities to raise awareness for testicular and breast cancer. Check your unmentionables people - tits important :)
I guess I clicked on the wrong video. I expected you to talk about books, and was surprised to read the video title "Check your boobs". But I kept on watching because I thought it might be spelling error. I said to myself, 'Carrie probably meant to write "Check your books" but accidentally typed another b instead of the k'.
will you remind me in about a week? my boobs are so sore and swollen cause i'm about to get my period, no hands are going anywhere near these girls any time soon!
Thank you for raising awareness about this Carrie! Recently I've had an early form (Stage 2) of cancer removed and I'm okay now but it is Vital that people do detect the early signs and are aware if something's not right.. Thank you again xx
So glad to hear that everything's alright!
As am I!! It was quite terrifying during the waiting period to determine what it was. Naw shucks, I will. Thank you for replying

Honestly, Carrie's videos are the best things. I find it hard to 'get in' to RUclipsrs sometimes, but Carrie is the best! Thank you Carrie x
I love that you use your influence and your audience to talk about something so important! You are amazing!

I really hope "boob ninja" is in Carrie's list of titles in regular use, like, "Hi, I'm Carrie Hope Fletcher, West End actress and Boob Ninja."
I found out about Coppafeel through Gi and since she started talking about it I definitely check myself regularly, whereas it never really occurred to me to do so beforehand. this means so much, carrie. both my aunt and grandmother passed away from breast cancer so this is near to my heart

Send her well wishes from me, a random internet stranger! I know it must've hurt and suck, but I hope she is in good spirits.
pianopaws88 I will and thanks a lot! It still hurts like hell, but she's slowly getting better.

Your charity isn't on the Project for Awesome's page, I looked for it, and it's not there. :/

snippitsofhols Not ridiculous, I had no idea either! You can google it :)
It took me 9 days to realise that the elf in the intro is supposed to be Carrie.... Huge facepalm 🙈
How awesome is the title "boob ninja"? I wanna be a boob ninja!
I am so bad at remembering to check my boobs, thank you for reminding me!
❤️❤️❤️
I've never understood why there separate charities to raise awareness for testicular and breast cancer. Check your unmentionables people - tits important :)

Are you referring to your gender? Because anyone with breast tissue can get breast cancer...which is everyone!!! Always good to check! xxx
yeah, just making a joke. Thanks for the info.
Petar Menger
Gave mine a good squeeze, feels like I'm healthy.

Christmas puds...like puddings!
***** Ah! That makes sense
