I love when the stars align and we start calling the things to us that we need.

Exactly! I wish the stars would align more often to give us exactly what we need exactly when we need it!

Hey Mary Fran, at first I was thinking that this book was written by the person who wrote the book "Life Like a Girl" but nope that's Nia Shanks. I have watched some of Mindy Pelz' videos in the past so it came back to me, when you mentioned that she was on RUclips. 👌

I think it’s hard to trust yourself to stop tracking after years of doing it. I think if you make a plan to break your fasts with protein and veggies, it will fill you up and you might be less likely to eat a whole chocolate cake. Plus the added benefit that protein will help maintain your muscle mass, which you don’t want to lose. In other words, if you don’t look at it as just losing weight, but what you can do to maintain muscle mass and energy, it might reframe your thoughts on what you want to primarily eat.
Oh wow, I’ve been in perimenopause for 10 years already. I’ve gone as long as 6 months multiple times. 😂

I think you are right...it's hard to trust and so hard to give up control to not track!

Yes could be control to why, but most of us like some kind of control in life and the only true control we can have is stuff about ourselves and even that can be hard. Loved the review, have a great day!

Yes, true! Control is definitely a sticky subject! When I was in my previous marriage I would say that I have no control over anything but the food I put into my mouth!

I took this book out from the library but didn’t get to it before it had to go back 😅 I like that she takes female hormones into account. I admire that you are willing to try the longer fasts - and agree that I still need to track in an eating window. WHAT we eat still matters imo!

I agree. What we eat still matters a LOT! doesn't matter how and when, what plays a part! I Think that for me I need to get everything balanced and working together. I can do one or two things great but the other things are way out of line. So I need balance!

Love this review! I mentioned 'Fast Like a Girl' a few months ago on one of your vlogs and found the book really good. I am so happy for you that you have found a way of eating that gets you so excited, when I first discovered fasting and cutting out ultra processed foods I was like 'why are doctors not promoting this to their patients'. I too am like you in that I have to log calories and think you are right about it being down to control. I guess control stems from fear and I am the the same in that I could inhale a large amount of calories in my eating window. I figure if it works for you then go with it, good luck with your journey. xx

You are right...why are doctors not promoting exercise, fasting, healthier foods! I personally think that they don't want us to be healthy...if we are healthy we don't visit them..which means no money for them!

@@noexcuses_beliefinmyself I think you are spot on. The pharmaceutical / medical industries are all about treating rather than curing, there is no money in providing cures. I've also come to the conclusion that most of our health issues come from the foods we eat.

I usually fast for around 13 hours but maybe I'll try to fast for longer periods

I think for me the magic where I am comfortable and not thinking about food and whatnot is the 16 hours.
