- Looking for a used BMW for sale in South Africa? We have over 4200 to choose from!

Only 210 of these were ever made, ensuring that this car remains one of the rarest cars ever made. And its a car that South Africa can be proud of; it was developed, built and only ever sold in South Africa.
With help from Alpina, BMW South Africa set about building something unique. With the E30 M3 absent from our market (largely due to sky high import duties and the fact that it was only ever going to be a left-hand-drive model), the local arm of the German car giant decided to go big.
Adding displacement was the answer and the 3.2-litre inline-6 engine from the BMW 733i was squeezed into the relatively tiny engine bay of the 323i Coupe.
A significant list of modifications and customisations were made to help the 333i stand out from its more pedestrian stablemates, and it worked.
With an original price of just R41,000 back in 1985, these cars easily fetch R2million nowadays.
For our video guy Ciro De Siena, driving one was always a dream. Heck, seeing one was always a dream. And so when a collector up in Gauteng invited us to drive and film the car, we were quite simply over the moon.
We hope you enjoy this as much as Ciro did. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

I remember as a child growing up in Soweto there's was a gangster who had this, he actually hid this car from the community because he knew one day its value would be crazy.
He’s still around if your referring too the grey 333 that rolls around Naledi , Tladi and Moletsane but you’ll see him once in a blue moon
Ain't that guy from Glenridge?
The guy I'm referring is late, he used to live in Moletsane. Maybe we referring to different cars gents
@@mohaumokhethi8625 that guy wasn't hiding it from the community because it's value would rise, homie was hiding it because he didn't want the owner to find his ride. Lol, only kidding fam, these cars are special as hell.
Hiding something in soweto 😑
By far one of the best E30 series ever built. Big Up BMW SA 🇿🇦
I've been telling people for years that in the 333i you had to choose between the aircon and powersteering because of the engine size and that was because I was told that and never really got down to checking up that fact lol. Thanks top video
Can confirm - I’ve got the slightly bigger 3.5L version of the M30 engine in my E30.
Had to give up air con in favour of power steering. The engine doesn’t really ‘fit’ ha- barely 5mm gap from the bulk head and 5mm gap from the radiator. You have to shoe horn it in
Greetings from the UK - thanks for sharing this rare beauty ❤️
Can we have a comparison test between the 333i and 325is evo... Awesome review Ciro🌿🙌
The mom of one of my sisters friends when she was in school, drove a 333i, so I was lucky enough to see one almost every day. What a thing!
I work at BMW and they would bring it around during stuff addresses and that was a sight I am forever grateful for
I had the privilege to see one in the flesh in 1987 when I was 20, since a friend at the time took me to his dad's BMW Dealership. They had one on order which arrived the previous day. I thought it was awesome and fast, but did not cherish the moment since we never realised what it would become. Good to see one in this pristine condition as collector's item.
I had the pleasure of driving one of these beauties back in the 90's. It was henna red in colour. Ill never forget the dog leg first gear and infinite ability to spin its rear wheels at a moments notice. This is a real BMW... they dont make them like this anymore. One needed to have skill and balls to drive this analogue beast @ 10/10ths.
A family friend had a red with tan interior 333i from new and I remember having drives in it. Was awesome. Eventually they sold it about 12 years ago. Was a great car
That introduction to the booklet. Photograph was taken in front of my step dad's house. Which they still own. Amazing.
Hey David where is the house?
Very Nice. I still have my 1990 BMW e30 318i , Much to my wife's dismay, I refuse to sell it. She still runs and is in pretty good condition. I cannot go anywhere in it without getting a guy walking up to me. You can tell right away what they want. I give them the same line - it is not for sale. I have had it 22 years now (I'm now 43 ) So basically half my life.
I park her right next to my 2001 BMW E46 325 I 😃
I remember that time well.At that time I lived in South Africa.
In 1986 a new 333 i cost around
R 55 000.Which was incredible value.
Car Magazine did a road test for the January 1986 issue.
0-100 km/h in 7,2 seconds.
Top end true 231 km/h.
Ciro your car tests are absolutely awesome , so interesting and entertaining , your humour is fantastic 😄
Fantastic car, you’re very luck to have driven it. Very well presented. Love the editing\production of this video as well. It was on point, I could feel the emotion.
Third!! Ciro I am such a big fan of the page. I am a Camera Operator,Editor and Drone Pilot would love to be on set when you guys are in Pretoria.
Good luck
this shot in Pta ,Mnandi (Copperfield)
i know someone who had one standing cause he needed a clutch. It stood for a few years and when i asked about the car he said he had sold it for 40k !!! He regrets that sale to this day.
Thanks Ciro! Excellent review as usual
Ciro , now that’s a proper car! Shew , what a privilege to get to experience it 🙌
36 years old and that body is dead straight. Well loved and looked after car.
Brings back memories, these there were atleast 3 in my town, 333i magic
Thanks from Australia for sharing this with the rest of the world
I always heard about the 333i this is the first time seing one even on RUclips still looks magnificent 👌 thanks for the info as well never knew there were only a few made 👍
Hi I'm from Mozambique living in Portugal, watching this video's made me go back in time 90s
I'm not a BMW fan, however, the box shape BMW brings back beautiful memories.
The car is legendary 👌
So you are a fan......of ....BMW......period
@@Dogmandziddy yes, of the old box shape (BMW). The new ones are nice but I'm not sure about them. Maybe if I can afford the new BMW car, and drive it, I might make up my mind.
Master piece,Thank you.
The content on this channel is brilliant . Keep up the good work.
Wow, thank you so much! Thanks so much for you support
Dope video, love the camera shots wow
Awesome video and I agree, I love the box shape.
Love the e30.... 320i 6cyl'engine is awesome good. I miss her everyday... Very nice memory... Thank you
Thanks for the video, never knew about this model!
Everything about this video has made me feel like I want to get my own BMW Gusheshe and tune it to be a complete work of art in future. I feel so, inspired... In the most nostalgic way.
Great review 😊…what an icon from BMW 🙌
My 1st job after school in 2002 in Joburg, My Boss let me take his red 333i for a drive on my own. stopped at the robots. got ready to let rip. slammed it into "1st" and dropped the clutch... it was in reverse... just got my foot on the break to stop an inch before slamming into the car behind me. Drove slowly back to the office.
what an incredible car, grandad had one which burnt out after fan stopped working. was very lucky to have driven it for a bit before then
Thank you for this video. I wish to one own one of these legends. My childhood dream.
Oh man how i would love to own one in prestine condition.
Brings a tear to my eye
I love the e28 MLE video that you did and absolutely love this too
E28 or E12?
@@richardohaletse7396 Its definetly the E12
What an amazing car, that color is clean af and I had no idea BMW ever made a 333i.
Love that Alpine deck..
The ultimate driving machine, brilliant !
Lekker sound from the engine and exhaust system
Absolutely phenomenal car! Brilliant video Ciro
Absolute legend of a car
Most car journalists today have alot of good and emotional memories about bmw's ,and this is why I'm a bmw fan boy
Hey. We're the same age. :-)
Love the sound of an old six cylinder engine.
Man oh man!!! You don't see this one everyday!
Loving the South African content
Awesome video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lovely car, it's been well maintained... Thumps up bmw
Simply beautiful 😍
Gorgeous car
Awesome video
Back when BMW sounds were all real
Sound is one of a kind it's like a Bassey 325is
What a BEAUTY
The ultimate driving machine 💪🇩🇪
One day bomb production that curatered yizo yizo should create a series about this e30 bmw and the notorious gangters of the 90s
Legend!
Very nice. Do one on the 325is and how it compares to the trip 3
Mercedes never had such a close relationship with South africa, to the point that they made special performance cars exclusively for SA.
There was a C63 Legacy edition only 10 made for our market
And then VW came with Polo vivo Mswenko....😂😂😂😂😃
@@madikgetlakagiso1525 Lol
BMW SA did a number on this icon 😍 333i
I have only seen one in my life. It was red one. 2010 in Kempton Park 👌🏻
Wonder if its the same car I saw at one of the Angela''s Picnic events. I saw one years ago driving in Krugersdorp as well, also a pristine example
Love your commentary. Love your videos.
The functionality of your App. when searching for vehicles to purchase is sadly very poor.
Hi there, sorry to hear you're not having a great experience. How would you suggest we improve it? We're always happy for feedback. Thank you for supporting us
The 325is was actually quicker than the 333i...I suppose the 333i was more aimed at grand touring, rather than racing per sé...I personally think the 2.7L sounds better than the 3.2L used in this car.
They are 2 different animals and so is their production years. But you are right indeed

Wrong steering wheel if I remember correctly. I love the gearbox.
It doesn't need a new name, 333i is special enough.
Steering wheel is 100% original..
Ko kasi we call it the cripple 3
I would like to know how this 3.2-litre sounds with a set of individual throttle bodies on.
We just love the Beamer in SA
My dream car 😍
Love the E30 had a coupe 325i 👍
A true SA classic
Beast
One can only dream this is a dream car for me.
What color is that? Looks beautiful
The name for the 333 is Botsotso... The Gusheshe refers to the 325is.
Hello everyone!!! From Limpopo South Africa!!!
Another one.....brilliant.
Hope that dreaded short radiator hose is in good condition...
They don't make them like this anymore, such a shame that to most South African's that only 210 where built plus these where the last real makoya beamers. All time favorite 3 series fan, box shape masters the 325is Evo and 333i
Still miss my e30🥲
Ciro was getting emotional here!!
Please do a review of BMW M440I
Me and my brother recently
ly built one of these in cape town.
Good day where can I buy the front loader please ? Mine was stolen at a mechanic
King of 3series
SA got all the good cars 😁👍🇬🇧
It was called "Trip 3" and the most sought after . A real hens tooth.
I will own this car one day
My dream Bmw E30.😭
she's a beauty
The 333i was like the m3 to us
Our M3 (333i) was the best M3!
Igusheshe, ithemba lamahumusha
There's one for sale in Sutherland
Makulu gusheshe!
What exactly code of that colour, I loved, please could u help om that?
Polaris silver
...an older gentleman once mentioned these E30's came out in a "Shadow-line" version, does anyone have knowledge of this?
it was called 333i shadowline.. but mostly because you would get in this special white colour then we made 325is and 327is Schnitzer
devo ser dos poucos portugueses a ter conduzido um :D (lucky me)
The days when BMW had real performance cars ‼️
When it comes to performance, BMW is still doing well. Better than their closest rivals
