The Ultimate EVO Anti-Lag & Launch Control Movie

For some it's only annoying noise, for others it's music to their ears...
Rally EVO Generation 6 to 10 (Group N), Launch Control & Anti-Lag sound a gogo...
Captured during Rally of Lebanon 2011. Some cars run Fuel race while others run on station gas. I probably got lung cancer and half-deafness while filming this, so please be gentle with me and give this vid a thumbs-up :)
Also, if you are a Subie owner/fan, please don't give it a dislike as i love both cars but subies are getting rare nowadays in Lebanese rallying :)

An anti-lag system ignites air and fuel after the engine but before the turbo. ignition is caused by the high temperatures in the exhaust manifold. The anti-lag system keeps the turbo spooling when there is a low amount of exhaust gases. So basically it allows the turbo to build boost very quickly, without any turbo lag… and it also sounds awesome

I discussed with some of the drivers, on why they tend to be soft on the launch, they explained me that getting brutal on the revs and/or the clutch will send the huge amount of torque (500 N.m to be exact, equivalent to a big V8) on the rear diff, resulting of an unevitable diff failure during the 3 days event, this is a way to preserve the diff, as they said :)

@ApexIXMR I agree, i must add that some of the shots were taken during the testing day thus a soft launch for some, and during the night stage you can see the difference between the experts and less experts, honestly it seems that some are disturbed(not at ease) with the launch control, my two cents :)

I think it's a turbo after each rally and an exhaust manifold each two rallies :)

the turbo is spinning as youre on the gas. as you let off the gas, exhaust gases that spin the turbine comes out less, so the turbo doesnt spin as fast. what anti lag does is ignites the gases in the exhaust as you let off so the turbo remains spinning at speed giving you the same boost at lets say 4500rpm as at 7500rpm

My 08 Evo X MR has launch control set at 5500rpm and in supersport mode its tuned to shift gears at 7500rpm. If you sit still in park or neutral and rev it like you don't care it will hit 8500rpm though you would be asking for problems if you do.

I see lots of "bogging" on a lot of these launches. Way to conservative on the RPMs. They need to set higher launch points on them to generate some wheel spin so the revs are held.

For APEXIXMR :They idile at 2000rpm ,restrictions in grp.n allow it to go up to 5500rpm ,and how do you think to start with higher rpm ,and why would they have wheel spin in rally ?

But isn't the point of launching the car like they do to get out of the hole as fast as they can? I mean, this IS a race isn't it? In that case, they might as well just take off without launching the car at all.
