All time ranking based on time. Cole Hocker is the best 1500M runner in the world this year based on his Olympic performance alone. His 3:27.65 probably puts him in the top 10 all time now.
Kerr will be past his prime in LA 2028 and there will be younger athletes in their prime, he is Cram v2.0. JI will never win another World 1500M title, the rest of the world has caught up to him and he doesn’t have a great last 100M close needed to win. If JI is smart he moves on to the 5K and 10K where he would probably be the greatest of all time and double Gold Medalist at the WC and Olympics.
Kerr ran a personal best. On another day it would have been good enough. Obviously neither he nor Ingebritsen thought Hocker would be in contention and still have a sprint in him at that kind of pace...but he did.
@@cynnajackson4556And why do you believe that,he is the same age as Jacob who has becoming better and better each year at every distances he run,and Hocker? He was nr 6 in the last Olympic, and nr 7 in the last World Championship in Budapest, and with a personal best of over 3,30 set up against Jacob with his 3,26,73 from Monaco this year, and you still thought Hocker could win this.I think nobody could predict that a man with a 3,30 personal best could suddenly run down his personal best 3 second and win the whole eventh, that is not normal,it it so abnormal, that it give me a bad feeling that this is more than suspicious.
Anyone who didn't know Hocker was a big factor prerace shows little knowledge of current 1,500 meter scene, as for Jakob and Josh all the bravado before was embarrassing, Kerr saying UK had best 1,500-meter runners laughable with USA having 3 in top 5.
The Americans slipped up on everybody who thought only of Josh and Jakob. Heck, placing first, third, and fifth shows they knew how to peak at the right time.
Very much a team race. Those guys were drafting each other for the entire mid section of the race. Kerr and Ing were so concerned with each other the left a relatively fresh Hocker too much daylight, especially the way he can kick late.
@@johnohrstrom5112 if that is what you need to tell yourself to cope. The Americans are the very best milers in the world now and they are only getting better.
Both Cole and Yared are better “kickers” than Josh and Jakob. If they stay close, they are always a threat. Beamish from New Zealand is another dangerous “kicker.” Running strategy at this level is key.
Pretty sure Hocker was the beonze favorite I believe. What makes this special is that it was very much a USA Team race. Through the mid section of the race the US team was on each other's butts and the way the last 200m broke out the leaders were too concerned with each other and Hocker turned on the jets. He was the best late kicker in the race and the Kerr and Ing got caught sleeping.
@@johnohrstrom5112 It looked like Kerr was giving it all he had and was aware of who was behind him but Jakob completely ran out of gas the last 20m and I agree that he was unaware. And yes: both of them hadn't been paying enough attention to the Americans throughout the season!
The comment that Hocker was ranked 100th is a joke. No way he is ranked 100th, ask Josh Kerr if he thought Hocker was the 100th best 1500 meter runner. Overall these guys know what they are talking about, but comments like this make them look stupid.
That means that his time from before the olympic, ranked hime as nummer 100 through all time, and most of the times better than his is from before this time, that did not means that it is 99 runner who run today, that has run better than him.
If Ingebrigtsen didn't run wide to block Kerr then Hocker wouldn't have been able to come up the inside. Hocker should thank Kerr. Such an awesome race
Ingebrigsten also badly blocked Hocker and destroyed his momentum and amazingly Hocker was able to restart his motor and attack again. Without that first block Hocker runs a 26 something showing a clean set of heels. He was inevitable
@@tychmcswain8643 I think Jacob who admitted he ran the first lap two second too fast,so he didn't have gas in the tank to set in a kick,so I think he made the decision to let Hocker in,it was better he won than Kerr.
I love sports, but all the chit-chat behind those two made me upset. For God sake none of them won gold. I feel very, very happy Hocker got the price. Lovely sprint!!!
You must have some inside information to say emphatically that they are doped. What athletes are doped and which ones are not? And how do you know they are doped? What dope are they taking that eludes drug testing? Inquiring minds want to know.
@@markpatceg5582 Yep, we were. Our skate boards back then were only about 3" wide because the trucks we used were from boot skates and if the boards were any wider, the top of the wheel would dig into the board. The wheels were wooden and would wear down in about a week or so and provided hardly any traction. A wider board with modern wheels would have been nice....still fun, but moved on.
Kerr was the target everyone was aimed at he has to walk away proud that was an amazing race, just amazing.
Cole Hocker ranked 100 in the world? He won our Trials with a 3:30 race.... really 99 people rated higher? I think Mr Cushing is full of beans.
He was ranked about 8th in the world, not 100th
They act ike he won gold because he bear jakob as did 2 others
