1500m Beef: Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen

- This video chronicles the growing tension between two of the best 1500m runners in the world:
2021 Olympic Champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR) and 2023 World Champion Josh Kerr (GB).
In a sport where politeness and modesty are the norm, it's very rare to have two athletes openly criticize each other. Especially in distance running!
The focus here is on interviews but race footage and other information is included to provide the full context.
Enjoy :)
Jakob ingebrigtsen is a special athlete once in a lifetime, can't wait to see him race again😀
Wishing you good training and health
This is gonna be a great rivalry for the Olympics this summer. Definitely the most entertaining distance running has been in a long time
Great video!! Keep posting
Thanks! Yes, I plan to!
Both of these guys are hilarious and fantastic runners. Both decent deep down I think.
Heyo, where did you get the audio from @3:22? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks!
It's a LetsRun audio-only interview. On RUclips, search "Jakob Ingebrigtsen says he was a little bit sick in men's 1500 final where he ended up 2nd". It's a 6 min video.
It's a shame the interview got no attention. I think it would change people's perspective a bit.
Btw, I really appreciate your channel. Few people research athletics in such depth! All the best!
@@RunLuppa Thanks! I like the full storyline aggregation here, but couldn't seem to locate the one clip for the life of me for some reason haha. Appreciate the kind words as well!
Yeah, I should probably link all the videos in the description. I don't want people thinking it's AI or something haha. Thanks for watching.
I love ur channel
Awesome video.
Very underrated video
Josh says things in a way Jakob would never do. He makes projections on Jakob.
Yeah it’s like Jakob is clearly joking and Kerr has no sense of humor and is being serious
Josh says things like a man, he’s honest. Jakob plays games like a middle school girl, his cute earrings are a nice touch.
@@andrew9067990Bro Jacob lives just as rent free in your head as he does in Kerr's
Jakob is better and that’s a fact!
Kerr talks too much. It's a shame this all happened because it all seems to have started from the media twisting what Ingebrigtsen said about Kerr being the "next guy". What he said made sense and everything else in the interview was giving respect to Josh for running well. Media twisted it and created a beef. It doesn't help that Josh bites every time and has to have a dig. I feel for Jakob a bit because he never wanted this. He actually seems like a shy guy who just loves to win.
It’s great for the sport. They’ve got people like you typing paragraphs. Fun rivalry that’s reviving the 1500 as a must watch event
@@chiefhardy6312 they're both just really bad at trash-talk. Their rivalry is great for the sport but they've got no craic.
Yeah I don't believe the "next guy" comment was intended to be an insult. But it was definitely taken as such!
Kerr is obsessed with Jakob
To be fair, he gets asked about Jakob in every interview 😄
Kerrs a god
@@kevinmolloy9134---Kerr has zero manners, marginal intelligence & not much education....... he can't even do math:
Jakob 10 wins
Kerr 2.
@@RunLuppa tbf he also goes on Jakob rants completely unprovoked by questions. Jakob living rent free up there.
@@dbo4506 This is true. I definitely think he's studied Jakob more than Jakob has studied him haha.
Two great athletes and two great ego's. It's similar to Ovett and Coe, except that Coe was the obvious lesser liked of the two. I'm not to sure who's winning the popularity stakes between Josh and Jakob .
The record shows Jakob is the better and more committed athlete.
A lot of 800 and 1500 meter runners dread longer distances, but Jakob embraces them like a true runner.
I am looking forward to see them run in the Olympics.
Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners.
nice vid! you might want to make things more concise by only keeping key parts of interviews and some voiceovers to summarize long-winded info. just some suggestions!
I really appreciate this feedback! I wanted to provide all the context to this story but there's definitely ways to make it more concise. I'm experimenting with voiceover/video. Thanks for watching anyway! 😁
Math don't lie :
Victorias en la Liga Diamante: Kerr: 1, Jakob: 13
Podios de la Liga Diamante: Kerr: 3, Jakob: 21
(Si solo contamos 1500m/milla) And the only two times Jacob lost against Josh You can see clear he was sick and the last time he was recovering from an injury. If Jacob is completely well, Josh lost again for sure. Thanks for the video. Agree with you @candiceverpaelst-ud3kk Jakob ingebrigtsen is a special athlete once in a lifetime
I mean if I was verbal and physically abused by my father I probably wouldn’t like talking to one of his pupils either….
It is very nice that Jakob has someone to push him to run even faster. I think we might even see a 3.26 this year. With good pacemakers that can hold 1200m and Nuguse on his heels I can see them both doing it. Not sure about Kerr. He might reach 3.27 on his peak.
I think those 3 guys will be a cut above the rest this year. I can't see anyone else running 3:27.
3.25.9
Josh needs to run better PBs to be able to say he is a better athlete than Jakob. I mean, other than 800m, Jakob's PBs are better than Josh's.
pbs dont matter, they are soon forgotten, it is the championship racing that counts for athletes, and the medals, they keep forever, i recall Dave Bedford absolute tough of the track who could run world records but not crack it at championships, i know these guys have done both, and many others are close on their heels, so should be a good championship year,
@@jensmith3719 World records go down in history, there's a new world champion every year.
Jakob is way better than Kerr
Reality check.
After injury & lost vital winter training blocks, still...... In his very 1st race in a whole year, runs 1 step off the win @ Pre. 3:45 for his season OPENER!!!!
If Kerr is smart ( that's a big IF) how can he deal w a fully fit Jakob when's he's back to 100%?
Easy answer:::: he can't & won't be able to. His cocoon of self aggrandizement & ego inflation won't matter 1 outta.
Jakob will quietly be doing what he's always doing.......
Rising like a Phoenix.
Paris 2024: 2 Gold medals ( again) for Jakob ingebrigtsen.
The end.
I completely agree with this. I know he didn’t win the first race, but I think it’s clear that he’s gonna win the rest of them.!
of course you're gonna disappear when Jacko loses in Paris
@@roidster4401 he’s not gonna lose in Paris. And that’s a fact, Bobby.
@@roidster4401 Jakob will win in Paris just like he does every other race. You can count them up Bobby. Jakob has way more wins 🥇
His voice is much British then english
Kerr's the better man 👍😁
Josh Kerr is so much cooler than Jakob.
Is he though? Seems a bit desperate imo
@@seag1492 he speaking his mind while Jakob plays games like a middle school girl.
@@andrew9067990 Idk Jakob seems just confident, Kerr seems to have an axe to grind
