Ostro uses a proprietary design, frame material, their own factory etc. the SL8 is got Specialized’s design but is still essentially a Chinese factory build and a lot of marketing money. Once up to speed all the aero bikes will be faster than the SL8. Which is much more like a Willier Filante. A mild aero bike that great all around. My 2 cents.
Thanks for feedback! From my experience owning a madone, system six, s5, ostro, and now sl8, the sl8 is the liveliest and damn near close to all the aero heavy hitters. The aero bikes are dogs to accelerate. Sl8 perceived feel over the ostro is that it’s more aero. Wind tunnels don’t lie, but out on the road with all varying conditions, it punches above its aero wind tunnel tests. Idk how they did it, but it’s pretty incredible. This is my first tarmac. I never bought into the S hype but this bike changed my mind completely.
Specialized SL6 and Sl8 (and prob sl7 too) are designed by Denk engeneering, not Specialized. Specialized don’t design and make any bikes. It’s marketing company. True bike manufacturer is Giant, have own R&D, factory, and they made own carbon sheets
I've was a little let down by the SL8 coming from a pinarello. I have a paris, and i felt like that bike holds speed better. I've since bought a Pinarello F5. I dont need the higher grade carbon b/c my bike is 43 and the bike would be to stiff. I have both the F5 and SL8 at 15 pounds. I agree the SL8 is very snappy and absorbs road buzz well. The F5 also absorbs the road buzz well, but like you say it still has that weighty feeling in the back. I prefer the F5, but I appreciating the SL8 more now that I put super narrow bars on it. It has totally transformed the way the bike corners and holds speed. Looking forward to your fast ride review. I feel like the SL8 begins to sutter once it goes above 23mph. I have to put out an unjustified amount of power to keep it above that speed
Thanks for the feedback! I had the sl8 going 30 today and felt it wanted to go even faster! Narrow bars definitely helped. We will see how it goes this weekend
You're not the only one that feel the SL8 like that. I've a mate from SL7 swap to SL8 than swap back to SL7. He said the SL7 hold speeds better than SL8. Overall not the latest is greatest only for posers.
@@addictcyclist hi im 5'11 - 86cm inseam. should i go for size 54 or 56 on ostro? no bike fits in our city and i have a scott foil 54TT 50ST with 38cm dropbar and 120 stem somehow ok but looks small as my friends tell me
I was thinking about sl8 but it is a spaghetti not stiff. I have been riding pinarello f12 and pinarello over 12 years now. Not going to other bikes as pinarello is stiffer, fits me, and no need to change if the bike works for me.
Gotta go with what works and what you like! If something is working for you, no need to look elsewhere. The Dogma is a stiff bike. It was between dogma f and sl8. I know I would have been happy with either. I could not find the talon bars and frame at a discount. I don’t pay retail 😂
Same here, TPU all day, I've gotten 2 flats in 2 years and both times was a 2 1/2" stem that went through the tire, nothing would have stopped that and tubeless wouldn't of sealed it. TPU all day!
Sweet, sweet ride man, you're gonna love it I'm sure... Enjoy it to the fullest 💪🏽

@@addictcyclistwhen you must braking and accelerate often that lightweight bike with lightweight wheels outperform heavy typical aero bike
You must try Giant TCR - You probably prefer TCR over any other bike in accelerate and lightweight departament 👍☝️💪

I came here for the bikes. Got distracted by the termi 😂
Love my Ostro Vam. Had the SL7. Great bike and comparable to my Ostro
All great frames!
Should use same tires and wheels to test out the ride feel. I wonder tarmac would still be noticeably more comfortable
I did I used the Roval clx 2 on both bikes

@@departurexx1520someone tells that sl7 is more uncomfortable so suits only for short training intervals, sl8 for longer ride. SL8 is also lighter
Ya i think this makes sense - at this level its really just different vibes vs one being better
nice video! thank you for the info. for sizing what is your height and inseam and size of your tarmac and ostro?
Thanks! 5’9” and 31. Both are 54cm

54 would be too small in my opinion. 56 and get dialed in with stem seems to be best option to consider
@@addictcyclist however its an integrated bar so probably just a ballpark with the stem?
Not sure. Would need to compare your current bike and geometry. Www.geometrygeeks.com
Is this the pro or expert trim?
Love the sl7 and sl8s but I still love more my terminator twin turbo! 😅
Why not Hellion Hellraiser and keep the blower too 🤣
I don’t know if it’s just me but every times at the light and then take off my foot hits the front wheel and I almost fall off!
I did notice that it hits my foot really bad when wheel turned. Short wheelbase

@@addictcyclist SL8 have less trail value so handling is better, more responsive and agile
which size 54 feels bigger: Tarmac SL8 or Factor Ostro ?
Ostro. Its a 55cm top tube.
@@addictcyclist Thanks! Horizontal top tube length is not on Ostro Vam website.. how did you get it? Just measured it ?
what is the cost of the Factor you have versus this tarmac?
Tarmac build was less due to my parts sourcing. 6200 sl8 vs 8500 factor
I put my roval rim brake wheels in my pinarella dogma The comfort was much better on my rim brake tarmac .sl6
Tarmac is a good overall bike but not the fastest. Depends of your needs.
But have superb handling
Clean so much bike for the money.
Tubeless??
No way lol TPU.
