Absolutely. This game is honestly incredible. A platformer that was way ahead of its time, especially considering that it came with an incredible level editor.
Good God, I was absolutely obsessed with this game back then. Next to Boulderdash, this game arguably has the best sound design of any. I loved using the constructor to blissfully exploit the level build sounds.
Wow, I did the same thing back in the day. I actually made levels with teleporters that didn't need to be there (and designed them to be inaccessible and invisible) just so the sound of the level build could be heard. This was an insanely creative and expansive game for its time.
Oh the memories… played it about 35yrs ago and was too dumb back then (I‘m 42 now). Thought it was about getting all the gold and jewelry and died a lot. Seeing you plow through the levels brings a great relief. And the sound effects during level build-up are just epic. Sehr geil 👍🏼
The sound FX are so good and when the Levels set up its just too fuckin cool. I remember making my own levels on this and you could make a infinite loop of Treasures appearing on one spot (Treasure matrix) and if you stood on the spot it made the weirdest warbling sound real loud
Although this game is very... _VERY_ ... similar to 'Jumpman', it's one of my all-time favorite C64 games. It was released by a different company than Jumpman (Epyx), and programmed by a different guy (Randy Glover), but both games were released in 1983 (I believe). Strange. Both good games, though.
Interesting--I don't know that I ever thought about it that much--but when I was young Jumpman seemed so much simpler I would have thought it came sooner. Looking back on it and when I think about playing them, Jumpman was a lot more "visceral" in it's ergonomics... and the levels were more clever. Nowadays I'd say wizard seems the easier game to write.
@@bxlawless100 Wow, I said that 4 years ago? Yikes! Anyways, it seems this was released in 1984, one year after Jumpman. A funny little detail I discovered is that in Europe it was released by "AriolaSoft" which sounds a LOT like ArEola...which is the dark colored area around a nipple!
This game is easy-ish if you concentrate only on getting the key and bringing it to the door. But if you decide to go for all the treasure, THAT'S when greed gets the better of you and you get killed. Still fun as heck even today.
This is still an excellent game. Getting the key and getting to the exit is usually pretty fast, but getting all the jewels is FAR trickier. The stages evolving and changing color is still a really fun mechanic even today. A modern update of this game would be so fun.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the epic death animation in this video, where the wizard’s hat falls off and he tumbles and bounces all the way to the bottom 😂
Ladder land. That orb at the top center surrounded by skulls and crossbones would give you nearly limitless points (and thereby limitless extra lives) if you could get up there. The downside is that you'd eventually die for reasons, but there was nothing stopping you from going back up there on your next life.
Or you could climb up the side ladder, wiggle sideways a bit to get more height, and fire a magic missile at the invisible thief there. that stops the noise, and then you can safely jump up and stay there. :)
The same game I saw on the amiga or early pc. could someone help me in remembering as I am looking for that game very long. There was also a level editor available...
this is probably the most underrated c64 game
Can any game be cooler than this? No.
Absolutely. This game is honestly incredible. A platformer that was way ahead of its time, especially considering that it came with an incredible level editor.
@@Skkra This was just a rip off of Jumpman.. I mean, it's fine, but I think Jumpman was a better version.
Well one of my favorite childhood games just made to look incredibly easy.
he made it look easy by missing all the jewels....
@@tjackson76c Some levels are not even remotely fair if you try to get all gems. greed is not always best in this game.
@@zaphod77 yes it is, you get more points
"tool assisted" = cheating! LOL.
This is an excellent game. I love the level builder so much too.
The sounds took me right back a good 40 years or so.
Wizard was one of my favorites during childhood times, changed my life in different ways xD
this game was EXTREMELY creative! I loved it!
When I was a kid I had it and it even had a CONSTRUCTION program where you could make your own levels!!!!

One of my favorite C64 games!!! Thanks for this!!!
Great game. It took me almost a month to understand the spell mechanics.

@@worsethanhitlerpt.2539Yes likewise!!! Especially the teleport, key and locks!
I had the same problem, trying to maximize points when I should have been sticking to the task at hand!

At 0:13 the copyright year is 1984. Was it actually released in 1983?

Jesus! Jump man. A blast from the past

Most UNDERRATED game of all time

I used to play this game when I was four years old and I loved it.
I played this game so much as a kid, loved it! I was never near this good, though.
One of the coolest c64 games. Loved it.
1St game i ever played, i will never forget it

Amazing game i was 8/9 years old when ill' buy this cassette.

Bit of a Jumpman Junior clone this one. Never heard of it but it looks decent enough for the time.
Reminds very much of Jump Man
I was never this good at this game.
so there is not an end? isn't it?
I hope gog gets this so I can play it again
My brother and I would create our own levels...we played this too much 😆
oh yeahh ... nice game !!!
Wonderful game. How many total levels were there? I never found out.
40.
Ist das eines der besseren Basic-Games mit Maschinenspracheunterstürzung ?
You don't have to collect any of the guff? XD
Is there a download of this for a C64 Emulator?
Google it. There are a few
hmmm I don't remember the game being so simple

Eden Films Necromancer?
Nein, das ist es nicht, aber danke trotzdem!
Eden Films - COSPLAY & ANIME vielleicht bards tale
I'm so grateful for DerSchmu's longplays, I've used a couple in this episode of mine: ruclips.net/video/wxKQoP3rglo/видео.html
Looks like Jumpman Jr
Was about to say exactly the same. It's Jumpman all over, but with slightly better graphics. :)
Definitely much better graphics and sound a superior version in just about every way to Jumpman Junior.
nice finish only too bad it skips most of the cool things of each level!
You rushed it! That's not fun!
