Can you please explain how to fix the Printer Failure error? I am getting the same thing you are illustrating. You mention linking to an article so we can follow along but I do not see the link. Thanks

I was looking for a *blocked* or *broken* sensor and noticed that every time I checked the print head, it was in the same place. Talked to the owner and they said that they haven't printed in a while so the head was stuck so I manually moved it back and forth on the guide and restarted and the issue went away. 3 years later and it's still working because I told them to print at least one document a month.

@@StevePringle Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am unable to move the ink cartridge assembly at all. It doesn't travel to the middle when I open the printer and I can't get it to move manually. I was thinking of removing the cover over this part of the printer to see if I can free it up. Any other ideas?

That is what happened here. It's normally on the right and may run to the center with the lid up. Some printers are "smart" and will actually hide it to the side with the lid up as they expect you to clear a paper jam. You then have to use the "change ink" feature to get it to center but with the error massage, that may not work so I let it cool and placed my finger in and hooked it so it could move. Not sure what OfficeJet model you are on so see their white paper to see if it is okay to do so.

I missed the part where you fixed it.

Slide (carefully) the printhead. It was stuck on this unit from sitting too long.

@@StevePringle OK. Mine is moving freely. I tried the HP prescribed way of unplugging then removing cartridges turn on and reinsert cartridges. I have about 4 or 5 of these same printers that have the same problem. I'm about to try the sledgehammer fix.

Manually move the printhead. It was stuck.

It's the print head. It was stuck in place due to low/no use. Moving manually and carefully restored the functionality.

You're actually milking these videos by stitching two useless videos together. No solution, no verbal walk through, you just jam your fingers in the printer and pray for views. 😭🤣🤷‍♂️

ruclips.net/video/iOf73Z2j9X4/видео.html I recorded the video for the client to show how long it took for billing purposes. Sorry. This isn't a how to break it down and out it back together video. Those take time and since I'm without an assistant, I have to do the recording and fixing at the same time. This is why I also link to a text/article version of what was done so anyone can try to follow along.

Never said this was a tutorial.
Recorded as the customer left for a meeting and I need proof it was fixed and was the same issue I warned them would happen if they let the printer sit for long.
