Thank you for a great tutorial. I have been repairing stuff like this for 40+ years, but without your help this one would have been very difficult to do without breaking a clip. Really appreciate that you show the entire reassembly including wire colors and connector orientation. Very helpful, especially for beginners.
Thanks mate, this helped a lot and my speaker is working now! Side note. At 21:30 you mention that the blue side of the plugs have to face upwards. For me it was the other way around. Luckily I made a picture of the motherboard before pulling everything. And by the way, it's ridiculous that JBL makes you go through all this trouble just to change the battery😑
This video was perfect, thank you Tino. I took my time and replaced the battery and it's back:) FYI, the screw driver that came with my battery was not small enough for the 3 screws way back attaching the mother board. Ended up by a $6 off set screwdriver at the harwarde store and that was the key for me. Cheers, Ernesto

Excellent video! At 34:20 you mentioned that the battery indicator LED's were not working. After I replaced the battery and reassembled the boombox per your instructions, my battery indicator LED's and the indoor/outdoor switch lights were not working either. I took it back apart on the right side and flipped the 2 ribbon cables on the bottom right side of the mother board over and all was good! Otherwise, thank you for making this video!

Hey just replaced my battery, thanks for straight forward video. Just one question, do you know why the battery indicator lights at the bottom front is no longer working after battery replacement?
You have to take it apart again, because what happened is you connect the cable for the light incorrectly, just flip it and will work perfectly again .
I ended up with no bass any recommendations.? I followed every step 🤣... also doesn't show me battery charge is it because it's an aftermarket battery.?
Hello! This is a copy a paste response. Please read fully if you are still searching for an answer to this solution. I am currently having this problem. First, let's check the serial number located in the port section of the JBL Boombox. If it starts with ND, most likely the process in the video will not help. For this model you will need to pry it off. Consumer discretion is advised as I have not done this process yet and am unfamiliar with how it will feels/looks like. I highly recommend more research before committing to the act. For those without the ND model, the process is not clearly described in the video. Your goal is to remove the opposite ring side using friction from the "normal force" of the surface of your choosing. Choose your surface wisely, it should be flat, grippy and dry. NOW, you can clearly visualize what the videos instructions are. You are not trying to remove the ring facing you but the one underneath. With the JBL Boombox upright, sitting on the subwoofer side you will need to apply pressure and rotate it anti-clockwise. BE WARNED. This requires quite an amount force. Hope this helps you in your endeavor internet stranger.
Thank you so much for this Great explanation video , just a question : i want to replace my boombox battery and want to upgrad it to 20000 mah. What would you recommand for a battery brand ? Thank you, you can get it from ebay or amazon, the brand from iFixit or cameron, to be honest most of the batteries are about the same, they’re only like two or three main manufacturers in China, just make sure that you select the one with the correct plug for your speaker.
Hi,, after dismantling the speaker, i realized the new battery terminal doesn't fit on to the motherboard (as in its too big,, the original battery has 8 slots and the new battery has 10), is there a way to make the new battery fit on to the motherboard or i'll have to look for another battery that fits

Problem I have with mine is, it charges but only plays connected. When you take off the charger it stops playing. Either a wire has come off, a solder joint snapped or something else.

All you have to do, after end caps, handle, the main grille panel, only the end speaker with the exclamation point, needs to be removed. Then replace battery which is right there.....You made WAY to much workfor yourself...trust me. My way, you dont have to remove and unplug any speakers except the one...Also, never use a power driver to remove screws and don't remove screws at an angle.
Is posible the dc jack is bad, you can try a different charger, make sure the flex cables are connected in the right way because sometimes you can flip the by accident.
Works perfectly fine, my only mistake was to flip the cable for the led lights , but I wanted to show live with out editing , you can hear the Bluetooth sound in the video.
You put the 4 strips of wire that have blue on the end wrong. It doesn't show you the battery amount because those are the light wires and they are flipped upside down and therefore not connected. Theres 3 at the bottom and 1 at the top. The top one is blue down. From left to right, the bottom ones are Blue Up, Blue Down, Blue Down. ✌️ Awesome Tutorial. My boombox actually lives longer than before now. I got a battery from China that has a 25,000 mAh battery ... which is 5,000 more than the original (Same watts). The one's on Amazon are only 10,000 mAh (Half the original 20,000 battery)
I had the boombox 1 and opened it up and read the battery it's only a 10,000mah. It never was a 20,000mah. It's just marketing saying 20,000ah, Jbl will say anything to sell their products and exaggerate like 24hour battery life, it gets nowhere near 24hours of battery life.
When he removed the cables around the 11:11-11:32 mark of the video, all three at the bottom were blue facing up and top one blue facing down. Did I miss something? Definitely want to get this right as I plan to do this tomorrow. I appreciate any guidance, thanks
@BrettK-xe8pg He likely opened it before the video at some point to practice for the video. He acknowledges in other comments that he put it back wrong, tho, so follow the order I said.
Just finished this job, not too bad. Definitely need a short Phillips screwdriver, can't stress that enough. You are 100% correct as you stated above on the cables, works perfectly. My original battery has 10,000 mAH all over it, just fyi. Thanks! @@501Labs
No, it’s complicated to put your hand inside and find the connectors and if you want to protect your speaker from water, it’s better to do it like the video.
Please sacrifise 5 minutes of yours, to edit your tutorial video with editor. Write text on screen, where you should have connected two smallest cables with blue sticker (on the bottom right of the motherboard) upside down, and about that not crucial screw. Not informing people that you forgot one screw and mixed up the blue sticker wires, ends up with many people wasting their time disassambling boombox once again 😂
@sharwil63 the video is great but @MrDekalz is right the cables are upside down I had to take mine apart 3 times and flip each cable to make sure it was correct

😎👌🏾💪🏾🙏🏾
Problem I have with mine is, it charges but only plays connected. When you take off the charger it stops playing. Either a wire has come off, a solder joint snapped or something else.
Did you already replace the battery?
@@TinoPerez No, I haven't replaced anything as of yet.
What’s the part number?

This battery is for Boombox 1?..
Where can u buy the battery? And how much?
You can get it from ebay , they’re about $80
How many mah is it you never said anything about battery specs?
où puis-je trouver la batterie d'origine pour ma jbl boombox 1
in amazon amzn.to/3xnEsqL
I could see the seal getting damaged after doing this.
Not if you get it done properly
All you have to do, after end caps, handle, the main grille panel, only the end speaker with the exclamation point, needs to be removed. Then replace battery which is right there.....You made WAY to much workfor yourself...trust me. My way, you dont have to remove and unplug any speakers except the one...Also, never use a power driver to remove screws and don't remove screws at an angle.
Source: "Trust me, Bro. Im some guy in a youtube comment section who has an opinion"
@@501Labs Whatever that means, just trying to help.
That only works for the boombox 2 not the original as the original boombox doesn’t have exclamation points
How much is the price of the battery
amzn.to/4azBygT
3:32 it doesn't work, do you have any other instructions?
Is posible the dc jack is bad, you can try a different charger, make sure the flex cables are connected in the right way because sometimes you can flip the by accident.
Where can I order battery from?

Cómo sé si mi JBL es 1 o 2?
My motherboard is blue inside
I cant get thw motherboard off
Nvm
A little bit of pressure did not work lol
Works perfectly fine, my only mistake was to flip the cable for the led lights , but I wanted to show live with out editing , you can hear the Bluetooth sound in the video.
your dam bro
you take everything out you only need to replace the battery 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks!
@@501Labs
JBL Boombox 2 and JBL Boombox 3 are so much easier.
Could you just cut it open from the bottom ????
No, it’s complicated to put your hand inside and find the connectors and if you want to protect your speaker from water, it’s better to do it like the video.
@@TinoPerezI’d never be able to do that without damaging it somehow 😢
I ain't doing that , no more JBL
why you make so hard man? That's not the way how they do it. You take everything out.OMG
He did an excellent job on this video. If you ask me, I'm glad he didn't edit it at all. Leave your comment for the pro's!
@sharwil63 the video is great but @MrDekalz is right the cables are upside down I had to take mine apart 3 times and flip each cable to make sure it was correct
All that crap to replace the battery. Makes me wanna just throw it in the trash and go with another company.
Horrorible
I cant Open the Rings lmao
