I've Loved shark blades for years. I used one this morning, it was the fourth shave, on 3 days growth. I was very surprised, it did a great job. Certainly not like the first shave, but completely acceptable. I might just push it for a fifth and see how we do tomorrow. 💈

Just a suggestion from a professional engineer: I would strongly recommend a proper DOE (Design of Experiments). I would strongly suggest keeping everything else constant (brush, shaving soap, razor, etc...) and only change the blade to truly see how the different blades compare.

I bought a pack of 100 of these for like $10. Tried it in my dads Merkur 33c (ordered my own DE89) and it was a nice shave, I was impressed with the Shark Super Chromes, and my dad switched to them too 👍.

I used them today in a fatip wood testina gentile with a week long beard and I got your same reaction:wow 😮 I have a very sensitive skin and with other blades I had always nicks and cuts, but with these blades absolutely not!Thank you for your reviews, I’ve discovered them recently but you’re one of the best! Cheers from Italy 🇮🇹!

I like them too ..... fortunately for us there are so many good blades in production ......everyone is sure to find at least a few that will work for them - your reviews help us in determining which to try - Thanks!

    Hey Nick,
I am new to wet shaving and got these blades with my first sampler pack, I think these are my favorites too... very smooth and I usually don't have irritation the next day (still refining my technique) I use them paired with the Merkur 180 long handle safety razor.
I really enjoy your videos and they have been super helpful in getting started in the world of DE shaving, thank you so much.
    Steve

I'm in total agreement about these blades. I've only been DE shaving for a month or so and was an astra and gillette guy, but now after trying these sharks, they are my new favorite. Not one nick and no irritation.

Thanks Nick. My brother and I both love Sharks and we both find feathers too aggressive. Again it will depend on the individual, but I think anyone who problems with Feathers should try these. Also like persona blue and wilkinson. 👍👍👍

Loving the blade reviews, and anxiously awaiting much more! I'd love to see Vokshod, Astra SP, Sputnik, and other russians. Also, maybe high ends like Kai DE blades as compared to Feather, if you have them......
One comment. On the first of the vids you mentioned you would use the same gear and the same soap. I think tongive the blades a fair shake, only variable that should change, from shave to shave, is the blade. Changing soaps and preps will naturally change the 'feel' from one blade to another. A basic soap and prep, that does not change, would be much more helpful, IMHO. But it's your channel, and I still enjoy your content. I wish I could do and try what you have done! Thank you very much!

The Shark blade pairs very nice with the Parker 99r too.

A decade ago they came with Parker razors and the reviews were terrible so I went 3 years without using them. I finally tried them and boy was I wrong. They are sharp enough but they absolutely shine in the smoothness. I have sensitive skin with coarse hair and shave every 324 days so by the time I shave my hair is already a bit thick. I get 3 close comfortable shaves out of this blade and encourage everyone to try them out. No they are not a sharp as feather but they do not to be. And the value is fantastic I bought a 100 for under $9. I understand that they may not be as sexy as feather or persona or the Gillette blades made in Russia but boy do they perform well

Decided to try the Shark double edge razor blades back in November. Blades are useless. 😂 Most of my hair sticks to my face and wasting shaving crème. I have been using Derby blades for the last five years and going back to them. Never had any problems with them. Package from Amazon arriving in a couple hours. Can’t wait for them to use them again!

I bought the Baxter of California razor a few weeks ago. It was before I started researching these wet shaving videos. I’ve been a fan of their skin supplies, soaps, and shaving creams for a while, so I figured it was a good place to start. Not cheap, either. Their razors come with Derby blades, so, not thinking anything of it, I bought 100 pack of Derby’s on Amazon. Little did I know that all these different brands existed, all having their own unique feel, advantages and performance, and people seem to have strong opinions on sharpness, hardness, and beard growth. Very interesting. I commented on one of Kirby Allison’s shaving videos, and a person replied to try out Astra blades, and that Feather was super sharp, and to be careful. He also said his favorite blade was Bolzano (which I think you’ve yet to review). I went ahead and bought all 3 to test out. You seem to like most of the blades you test, so I gather these brands are all fairly good, it just depends on the feel you want. Also, I’ve been using a Baxter travel badger brush (not their full one), and I’ve been using their cream shave. I’m sure you have videos about those specific things, as well. I’m looking forward to diving into you recommendations for badger brushes and shave soaps. Live your videos, like your in depth reviews, like your vibe...only constructive criticism: Try a 2 camera setup. This angle is fine, it’s your trademark, it’s great. But set up another one for the close up. You can alternate between shots easily on any editing program, and it wouldn’t be much more time consuming to edit, really. And I think it could add a lot of dimension to your reviews, and channel.

I don't have a very thick beard, and yet my first shave with one of these Shark chrome blades was not close. After five passes, I was not completely satisfied. This was using the same razor that you used, albeit with C.O. Bigelow shave cream, which is made by Prorazo. The Shark blade was smooth though, and I don't think my technique is slipping. I will have to see what a second shave with the same blade will do.

I found Shark to be somewhat similar to Derby, very smooth but not quite sharp enough to work for me. I found Voskhod gives just the right balance of smoothness and sharpness for my facial hair and skin. Less sharp would be too dull, but sharper than that isn't beneficial for me and would likely increase the likelihood of getting cuts. The only other blade I've found to give a similar balance with no irritation was Polsilver, but they are quite a bit sharper than what I actually need to get down to the skin and cost over 5x more per blade than Voskhod.

Why I watch these video`s when I don`t need a shave I do not know, they always make me wanna go shave, but I`m a every second day max guy, because my skin hates me lol..
Been using shark super stainless a while now and I really like them, sharp, but not too aggressive, smooth shaves, kind to my neck, lasts me a good 3 shaves before noticing a degradation in performance, and no weepers :)
My scandinavian fluff and sensitive skin are very happy with sharks in a 42c, gonna give these a try for sure ;)

Wet shaving has ironically become expensive for me. I changed to wet shaving because the blades are dirt cheap and that I wanted to try straight razors to. I purchased a BlueBeards Revenge Shavette, 100 pack of Derby SE blades and Arko Soap. Since then I've purchased more shaving products I now have a Muhle R89 DE razor with 100 pack DE Astra blades and soaps and creams like
Taylor of old bond street sandlewood, coconut and St James creams. Cella soap , proraso sandlewood, eucalyptus and menthol and Mitchell wool fat soap I also purchased BlueBeard Revenge shaving cream but smells terrible. I've also purchased an alum block, a synthetic wilkinson sword brush ( that broke after a month) an Omega boar brush and a mixed badger and boar brush. I dread to think how much I've spent on wet shaving.

totalanthony Don't feel bad, I did the same exact thing. I went into this thinking that I would save money, but the addiction got the best of me and watching youtube sure doesn't help. In fact, due to my obsessive compulsive personality, I purchased doubles of the Muhle R41 Grande and the Muhle R89 Grande because I love them so much. I quit drinking and smoking, at least this is a harmless hobby.

I am new to DE shaving and these are my favorite so far. I have only tried 7 different blades, but I have found these smoother than Feathers, Derbys, Astras, Merkers, Perssona Blues, and Dorcos so far. I have a new Maggard MR1in the mail along with more blades to try, so I will see what works for me the best in the MR1.

I just tried them for the first time today... and now I have a new association to the name Shark... cause the sound it makes during shaving goes "shrrrrk, shrrrrk...", lol. Maybe due to the 3 day beard, but anyway, for me it seemed like a forgiving, rough, beginners blade. You dont have to worry too much about nicks or burns - you just go at it. But I actually like that.

I agree, the Shark Super Chrome blades are excellent.
In my experience, they are sharp, smooth, and non-irritating.

New to de shaving and have only used the dollar tree blades that came with the razor haaha and the astras. The astra's work well and I heard good things about shark so i got 100 from amazon for $6.60 total.. .06 per blade wow.. I have 20 of the astras. Cant wait to try them, i would think all blades are similar seems that isnt the case. Guess I could have gotten the sampler packs but either way any blade will do the trick if needed for a lot less than cartridges.

These didn't work too good for me in my Edwin Jagger DE89. I already found my "go to" DE blades which are the Perma-Sharps. I use them in my Phoenix Double Open Comb razor and nothing has even came close to surpassing those blades since. In fact I just got a 100 pack of them in today and the only other blade that I've ordered in bulk was the Gillette Silver Blues. Unfortunately those blades no longer work for me due to my beard getting tougher with age and genetics.

Not about blades but how would you compare the merkur 34c vs the wet shave club razor? Wondering if the 34 is worth getting or wait to get a more advanced razor.

Hey Nick, Nick here and I am very new to wet shaving. (Wish I would have discovered this for years ago before I got out of the the Marine Corps having to shave every single day) but I was wondering what you think is the most important component of the wet shave to give best results. Do you believe its the brush, soap/cream, blade or the razor. I have a very sensitive neck and am getting a little razor burn still but I think a little of that is technique. Thanks

Also I want to mention that I am using very cheep gear. I have the micro touch one and the van Dan hagen deluxe set with brush bowl and soap. I wanted to make sure I like the type of shaving before I really invested more then $35. Thanks

How much time do you spend a day shaving your face? I do one pass and I'm off. By the time your on your last pass hair is probably already growing back where you started 10 minutes ago.

In terms of aggressiveness, How do the 33C (which I have) and 34C compare? I have a pretty thick and coarse beard. BTW, I'll be trying the Shark blade next from my variety pack. I am a DE nube.

I own 33C and i think, 33c and 34c are practically the same. Only difference is that 34 is 2 piece and 33 is 3 piece.
      Cheers.

the heads are the same, so same aggressiveness. all Merkur heads are the same unless it's a slant.

are there types of soaps that you don't recommend blooming with?

    • @andyhedin4893
      @andyhedin4893 9 лет назад

***** Personally, I don't bother blooming really soft soaps ("croaps") or creams. Harder soaps seem to benefit the most from blooming, IMHO.

what's the difference between the stainless and the chrome blades?

    • @rayr5950
      @rayr5950 6 лет назад +1

Stainless Steel is an alloy of Carbon Steel and Chromium. Most blades out there also have a thin plating of another metal like Platinum, Titanium, Iridium or Chrome to harden the blade edge and smooth out the roughness from honing. A blade may also have an additional spray on coating of Teflon or other polymer to increase the smoothness of blade glide against the skin.

its sped up but even at normal speed he shaves a bit faster than I do. I rotate and rinse on every stroke
