These blades are awesome! One great thing about it is that there's no glue securing the blade on the package. It's great because your razor stays free of glue.
Dorco was one of the blades included in a 16 brand sample pack that I tried about a year ago. In looking back at my notes…Feather, Nacet, Astra SP Greens, and Voskhod were my top tier blades. Next down were Gillette Platinum, Silver Blue, 7 O’clock, and Bics. The worst of the groups were Derby, Sharks, and Treets. The last group was in the middle and all got similar grades….Dorco, Bolzano,Persona, Wilkinson,Merkur and a couple of others. They were all OK….but not as good as group 2 and way below my top group. After doing my blade ranking, I’m now rotating between Nacet, Astra SP, and Voskhod to determine my best everyday blade for my two razors….Rockwell 6C and Gillette Slim. The Feather blade I keep for special occasions when I want a super BBS shave. They are too aggressive, though, to use every day. Having gone through this recommended selection process, I’m a lot more knowledgeable about blades and comfortable with my choices.
I got a pack of these free with a razor and I loved them. They felt very similar to Gillette Silver Blues and seemed a little sharper than Astra SPs. Overall, they're definitely what I would put in the premium category, especially compared to Dorco 301STs, which are good but not nearly as sharp. These are very impressive blades for my tough beard. I'll definitely buy more soon.
long time viewer Nick and another great vid. Nick there's two blades that I have tried and just been amazed with. they are now my go to blades and would love to see a review from you for them. one is ASCO blades any of them and SHARK SUPER CHROME, just FREAKING amazing and price wise. GODSPEED and good shaves.
dorko sometimes get a bad rap. They are not very sharp but that is good, SOMETIMES, for guys fighting ingrown hairs. Because you want to get close without cutting below skin level. Excellent review.
I am new to DE shaving and tried a Dorco Prime butterfly safety razor and Dorco prime platinum blades for the first time today. Still learning and trying to figure wet shaving out, but I did like the razor and the blades. Got a decent shave in 2 passes.
"Lather Management Control Issues?!!" HAHAHA! Love it, Nick! I had the same LMCI with the larger of the two Stirling synthetic brushes and the PAA "Douglas Fir" soap!!!
+Brian Jacobson Aren't the knots (and handles) for many of these brushes made by the same factory in China for very little, with the brand logo stamped on by the factory, and sold at a very, very large markup here? Do a search for synthetic brushes on Alibaba.com.
+Shave- a-thon Yes, several retailers found out the source for the Plisson knots and all had their own brushes made with the Italian Barber Plissoft being the cheapest priced one out of them all. It is $10 for the small handle vs $20-25+ elsewhere.
Just bought 350 blades from dorko for $18 shipped. Great blade. Not quite as smooth as an Astra SP, But equivalent in every other way. It’s still pretty smooth
wow I was shocked to see you doing a Dorco review! for a brief time I was into the dollar shave club and dorco makes their razors if you didn't know, anyway it was a month after that I got into DE razors and couldn't find one positive review on dorco blades - I have some I never tried that were rebranded for a dollar store so I'm anxious to see your reviews of their other blades! thanks for what you do I always enjoy your vids! :-)
Thanks Nick, Great review. The synthetics do drip because they don't really hold water but with the many advantages drying, not having to soak etc. they are great. I have been following your links and purchasing too. Gonna definitely check out the DORCO blades. Happy Holidays to you and your family!!
Hi Nick. I`m a little late responding to this video. ha I won a razor in a giveaway recently and they came with Dorco Primes. What great blades. For $9.25 shipping included I ordered 100 more blades. Great blades at a great price.
My two year old got a toy shave set for christmass last year. I decided I wanted to switch from can shaving cream to shave soap and a brush, so I've been using the toy brush while I wait for my new brush to show up. It doesn't work very well, there's no bloom to it.
Was using your videos to gauge what 100 pack of blades to go for (I don't shave as often as yourself so 100 will last quite a while) and it was between this and the Gillette 7 O Clock, went for these just because they were a bit cheaper and like what I've read/heard.
You should give the dollar store brand a try and review. I recently bought a 5 pack of Personna blades (white and red package) from the 99 cent store, I haven't tried them out yet though. They also have a generic brand at the Dollar General.
A lot of guys will just use the blade bank in the back of the blade pack if the blades are packaged like the Primes or Feathers. For me, I just use prescription bottles with childproof lids and toss them in the steel recycling bin at our local landfill when full. Another thing I've seen is little wooden "piggy bank" style boxes with a slot in the top and a lock to keep the kids out. You just put a small cardboard box inside and toss when full.
I came to the same conclusion that they were similar in sharpness to Astra SP but smoother. Irritation from daily shaving was noticeable with Astra SP but seems barely noticeable with Gillette Platinum. However, Gillette Platinum is quite a bit more expensive than Astra SP. Both are a bit sharper than what I personally need for daily shaving, though.
Hi Nick you must try BOLZANO blades if you can find them. Me and some friends believe that these blades are very good. I know many people using them but few talk about them. We need your opinion too.
Hey Nick, I've been following your videos for several years now. Your videos are the reason I started wet shaving. Which brush is your go-to brush? I currently own a Parker brush and Satin Tip synthetic
*Now this has caught my attention, seeing as I use the Astra Superior Platinum's.* *Just as sharp as the SP's, but smoother shaving? Very interesting indeed. o________O*
Are you in radiology? seems like you have plenty of free time. By the way, great review, here in South America the easiest DE blade you can find is the Dorco Platinum, the ones with the red packaging, they sucks. I have to order the persona blades from USA via courier.
+Julian Mejia I got Gillette super thin Mejoradas, made Brasil. Brought to me as a gift from the Dom. Rep.. I like them. Sharp, smooth, clean. Can't get them here in Europe. Try them out!
+Björn Mundt, Here in Colombia the only blades you can get are dorco platinum and minora. They are the worst blades ever made. I wish I can try gillete blades. Im going to europe (spain) where you can get astra easily, but I can't change the personna, they just work great.
Julian Mejia I had a conversation with a guy from Argentina and he said, you get Gillette super thin mejoradas all over Southern America. OK, i believe you. The only blades you can get all over Germany in most shops are Wilkenson. Nick made a video about those horrible blades. Only some shops have home brands. Double edge blades give to less profit. I can get all the other brands only via Internet. Same problem. Products like Personna Blue and Astra were unknown by me. So i must say thanks to such videos! Can get a lot of knowledge there.
+Björn Mundt Yes my friend, I also find Nick's reviews very informative and I could say he is very accurate with his comments. I order my products through amazon USA based pretty much on his comments.
I agree that these are as sharp as Astra SP, but a bit smoother. If you think $10-13 per hundred is a deal, go to dorcoprime.com. There they list for around $65 for 1,000 shipped. I started my order, but decided to try one more shave to be sure. The next day I received an email offering me a 10% off coupon. Tomorrow my $56 per 1,000 order should arrive. If they are not as good as expected from previous smaller orders, I'll let you know. Have you ever used/reviewed a Star DE razor. They are available on the Bay for around $10. For me they compare favorably with the Gillette Tech. A bit more aggressive, but about as smooth. And, very versatile. Almost all decent blades give a great shave.
Wow, that should last almost a lifetime. I'm going through their ST301s and it seems like these primes are more like GSBs. Guess I'll try a few after said GSBs.
Soft, cutting, long. For that read mild, sharp, long lasting edge. How much is lost in translation between far eastern and the English languages. How many instruction booklets have I thrown away........
I love these blades they are smooth like voskhods but sharper imo. Winners!
These blades are awesome! One great thing about it is that there's no glue securing the blade on the package. It's great because your razor stays free of glue.
I believe what the box is saying is smooth, sharp and long lasting.
Dorco was one of the blades included in a 16 brand sample pack that I tried about a year ago. In looking back at my notes…Feather, Nacet, Astra SP Greens, and Voskhod were my top tier blades. Thank you Nick for all of these blade reviews, they are very helpful and we really appreciate them.
The blades are really very good! I bought 100 pieces for 7,50 € in Germany. A very good price for a very good blade! 👍🏼
Thank you Nick! 🙂
I got a pack of these free with a razor and I loved them. They felt very similar to Gillette Silver Blues and seemed a little sharper than Astra SPs. I'm guessing the "Soft" "Cutting" "Long" can be interpreted as "Smooth" "Sharp" "Long lasting"?
These dorco plats are all Ive used since this video. Best in all categories esp price!$$
long time viewer Nick and another great vid. Great video series Nick. These and Muhle blades are very smooth for me, and you can not beat the price point. Thanks for doing these series.
"Lather management control issues!" I laughed out loud.., thanks Nick.
I bought 1 pack of 10 just to try, and went back for the $11 pack of 10. I was highly impressed and a fan.
hey Nick, do you still use these blades ? they weren't on your recent "best blades" video.
Should check out the RazoRock Plissoft. Super high value and an excellent brush.
I have one on the way!
You're going to like it! Like a plisson but has backbone. Builds lather like crazy.
+Brian Jacobson Aren't the knots (and handles) for many of these brushes made by the same factory in China for very little, with the brand logo stamped on by the factory, and sold at a very, very large markup here? Do a search for synthetic brushes on Alibaba.com.
It's probable. The RazoRock Plissoft is only $10 so I'm not sure if there's much of a mark up.
+Shave- a-thon Yes, several retailers found out the source for the Plisson knots and all had their own brushes made with the Italian Barber Plissoft being the cheapest priced one out of them all. It is $10 for the small handle vs $20-25+ elsewhere.

Order a safety razor in China a week ago came with these dorco blade they are pretty sharp.
My two year old got a toy shave set for christmass last year. I decided I wanted to switch from can shaving cream to shave soap and a brush, so I've been using the toy brush while I wait for my new brush to show up. It doesn't work very well, there's no bloom to it.
Just got a pack in a selection box looking forward to trying them thanks too you 👍
Thanks Nick, these look like they might be worth checking out!
Thanks for another great review. I absolutely love and appreciate the blade series. I think you're going to love the Gillette Silver Blues!
Was using your videos to gauge what 100 pack of blades to go for (I don't shave as often as yourself so 100 will last quite a while) and it was between this and the Gillette 7 O Clock, went for these just because they were a bit cheaper and like what I've read/heard.
I think people confuse sharpness with smoothness. For me these are one of the best. Top 2 tío now
A veritable meringue of a lather :) blades sound really good, I'm very tempted to try them !
these are my go to blades.

question is there a special way to throw out the razor blades? if there is what's the special way and tnx for the awesome vids!

How long do you take to put shaving cream on
There’s dorco, dorco red, and dorco prime. I have no idea what the differences are between the three aside from being made in different places.
did you ever try there razor its self?
i knicked my self to hell with thos blades had to use rubbing acuhal (sp)
Sounds like a good blade, will have to pick them up...then stack them next to the hundreds of other blades I have yet to try lol. I Great review Nick.
My best blades!
I have tried the otherb2 kinds of dorcos and are horrible blades. will have to try this.
I came to the same conclusion that they were similar in sharpness to Astra SP but smoother. Irritation from daily shaving was noticeable with Astra SP but seems barely noticeable with Gillette Platinum. However, Gillette Platinum is quite a bit more expensive than Astra SP. can you review Big Ben blades?
thanks for the review my friend

+Armando Higuera his omega boar seems to be his fav from the 20 or so videos I've watched!
Nick, is this the "checkmate brush"?

why did you randomly lick your finger at 2:19 ?
Review the Sharp durablade next.
any tips for under the nose area? i cut myself last week trying lol
It's an amazing brush.
You should try Ladas blades
*Now this has caught my attention, seeing as I use the Astra Superior Platinum's.*
*Just as sharp as the SP's, but smoother shaving? Very interesting indeed. o________O*
+Danmandingo so did you try the dorcos? would be interested to hear someone else's comparison, particularly if ASP's are your go to blade.
Rapid D
I have tried the Astra SP, The Dorco Prime Platinum, but have now settled with the Permasharp Super.
I'm telling you guys. You can't beat the Dorco platinum blades. $8 for 100 blades
+Rob G Ive got a draw full of blades, most everyone available and the dorco 300/301 bang for buck are terrific
Steve, I just checked out your videos and you sir have gained a subscriber.
Im getting better, learning as i go! Come join RMS@ facebook.com/groups/RealMenShave/ too

next up....Lapas blades please
and there speaks the orthopedic resident ;)
the only ones i use
It's probably just poor english translation. soft, cut, and long. The three actual words they mean are probably: smooth, sharp, and long lasting

Whata dork
